When the Wachowski brothers were writing their first film Bound, they based the characters and social situations (although not the murders!) on Susie Bright's book, Susie Sexpert's Lesbian Sex World -- so how better to pay the writer back than by offering her a part in the film?

"I got a letter from the Wachowskis" offering a cameo, Bright told Current. So she sat down with the script, and took a look at the role offered to her -- a woman who Gina Gershon's character Corky attempts to pick up in a lesbian bar.
Bright, author of the upcoming book Big Sex, Little Death, liked that she knew the bar they would be shooting in, but she also knew that since the film was shooting in Los Angeles, they wouldn't be getting the types of extras they would need. "If you go to the casting agency, you're going to get the closeted LA crowd/ L Word vibe, where everyone must be femme," she said. So Bright suggested they stock the bar with "the dykes we need," ones who represented a mix of butch and femme, and recruited friends from San Francisco. For instance, the woman in the next booth over to Bright's was her ex-girlfriend, photographer Honey Lee Cottrell.
"She gives Corky a dirty look," Bright said. "Corky's just come back from prison and she's not very well-liked, so everyone's in a 'you again? we all hate you' mode. And when she shot her that look, the Wachowskis were like, 'That's great! Can you do that again?' They called it giving the mustard. 'Yeah, give us more mustard.'"
In addition to providing additional extras, Bright also supplied her own wardrobe -- a custom-made outfit made by a friend, Kathy Andrews, who did erotic leather tailoring for fetish wear. "I had that made for me a couple years before," Bright said, "and I knew it looked fantastic. I wore it because they needed me to be a sexpot!"
A sexpot who attracts Gina Gershon, who then walks over and hits on her, only to be interrupted by a cop -- and Bright's character's girlfriend. "She was wonderful," Bright said. "She made me feel like an abused woman who wasn't allowed to speak."
Had she not been in character, Bright said, she would have flirted back -- but Gershon still wouldn't have gotten lucky, since their sexual attraction was all in the acting. "This wasn't about the real me," Bright laughed. "I was just acting like a deer caught in the headlights, a pretty girl for a big tough girlfriend."When the Wachowski brothers were writing their first film Bound, they based the... more

There are no words to prepare you for this. But as a bit of background: the Wachowski Brothers' next film is Ninja Assassin, which is about CGI and doing really awesome fight sequences featuring Korean pop star Rain. They previously worked together on Speed Racer. Also, it doesn't hurt that having him in your movie suddenly promises that you'll have thousands of screaming girls flock to your movie if he's shirtless.
And apparently, at some point, Rain mentioned there were Korean Ninjas.
Let's begin:
Listen me carefully, Mr.Wachowski brothers;
I am not japanese,
I am Turkish,
I am not racist or ethnocentrist too,
but;
I am very angry about yours and your actor's(rain) descriptions about Ninja culture!
I am sorry,We never watch this movie!...Never!
let me explain it why?
Rain said in his latest interview:'Ninja is not just part of Japanese culture there is also Korean Ninjas'
'''Korean Ninjas!'''...what a shameful statement!...what a big lie!
Firstly; In Japanese history, a ninja is a warrior specially trained in a variety of unorthodox arts of war. These include assassination, illusion, espionage, and various martial arts.
There is no connection between Korean culture and Ninjas!...
do you understand that!
You have to show your respects for Japan's historicity...

You have to show your respects for Japan's historicity...
Secondly;Mr.Waschowski brothers, your Matrix series,Speed Racer and Ninja assassin are based on the Japanese animes and mangas.
so that is why you have to respect to Japanese culture,Mr.Wachowskis,
So Tell me;why you use a Korean actor(rain) in this Japanese named movie...!!!
ok,you prefer a korean rather than a japanese actor...I did not like this choice though I accept your decision...
But Mr.Wachowskis,Why your actor RAIN explains that Ninja is not Japan culture!
did you believe that,he said 'Ninja is not japan culture',
Oh my god,
I said before,I am not japanese but I hurt so much...
I am really very angry,
Wachowski brothers know how to earn money on the Japanese culture, that is ok,but
why they could not control their actor's wrong statements!
what is this irreverence!
please,please,please
Do not touch the historical truths,
Respect the soul of Ninja, because Ninja is spirits of Japan!
and,
do not forget,Ninja is the very important part of japan culture,
there is no interest and connections between Ninja and korean culture...!
And my last words is to Mr.Rain;
'Mr.Rain, please do not speak about Japanese culture!'
SUMMARY OF THIS BOARD
1-Japanese market is one of the biggest market for Hollywood, and Japanese watch the movie illegal very rarely. So if I am the person in charge for the promotion, I'll let Rain correct his statement. With just a simple correction they can avoid the damage (nobody knows how serious or how slight it is).
2-We have strong Ninjutsu comminities and very active, impressive cinema club!
We have enough power to starting very powerful boycotting and effectual protesting action against this movie!
3-Me and all my friends will protest this movie,
we will not watch until to hearing about their correction,
if you don't care about us,
if you laugh us,
if you think that we are unimportant,
if you underestimate us,
ok,no problem...
Because we will fight for our case until the end of our abilities.
and I am not Japanese,
I just fight for that what I believe...
4-if they CORRECT THEIR STATEMENTS everything will be ok.
5-I think you don't have an idea about 'the box office power of Japan',
ok let me remind yo again,
did you know the box office of The Last Samurai was 140.000.000 dollar in Japan!
and,
did you know the box office of the last Samurai was 110.000.000 dollar in USA!
CAN YOU SEE THE DANGER FOR PRODUCERS OF NINJA ASSASSIN,
CAN YOU SEE THE POWER OF JAPAN AUIDENCES?
OK,let me remind you again about box office of 'speed racer'in japan,
JUST 3million dollars,
can you see big difference between the box office of 'Last Samurai' and 'Speed Racer'...Can you really see it?...are you sure?
AND,
also I have a very big boycott plan for Turkey,my country,
Turkey has very big box office potential too,
JUST,
I hope, the producers will read this message board and correct their actor's statements!...I just hope for them not for us!

A tale as old as time: boy abandoned by parents. Boy trains under secret ninja school. Boy becomes an assassin. Boy is betrayed by his secret ninja school. Boy, now a Man, faces secret ninja school to save a woman's life.
Then there are slow-motion fights through fire!
Ninja Assassin stars K-Pop idol Rain, produced by Joel Silver and the Wachowski Brothers and directed by James McTeigue ("V for Vendetta" and 2nd Unit on other Wachowski films.)
Call me crazy, but I could swear that they had some SFX from Mortal Kombat. Oh well, on November 25th we'll find out if Ninjas are still cool.A tale as old as time: boy abandoned by parents. Boy trains under secret ninja school.... more

Those cunning special FX loving brothers, the Wachowskis, have apparently been offered the chance to direct a new Superman trilogy. (I know, even more Superman films...)
According to frequent Wachowski-worker, James McTeigue (V For Vendetta) said at the Berlin Film Festival, that Warner Bros had approached the Matrix-making brothers about the possibility of them directing the next stage of the Superman franchise, a new trilogy of films.
There's no confirmations as yet, but reports say that they are considering it.
I have three questions....
a) Could the Wachowski bros do a new Superman film well?
b) Do we really need another Superman film?
c) Can anything ever live up to the original Superman? Those cunning special FX loving brothers, the Wachowskis, have apparently been offered... more

The English, among other talents, are adept at nurturing their grudges. How else does one explain the enduring enmity toward Guy Fawkes, a conspirator in a plot to blow up Parliament in 1605? Some four centuries after Fawkes was caught, tortured and executed for his role in a scheme that never came to fruition, Britons still celebrate his demise each Nov. 5 by burning his likeness in effigy and setting fireworks ablaze.
One of the ironies of Fawkes' legacy is that he was a late addition to the infamous "Gunpowder Plot." Born a Protestant in 1570, Fawkes enlisted in the Spanish army in the Netherlands around 1593, shortly after converting to Catholicism. Co-conspirators Robert Catesby, Thomas Winter, Thomas Percy and John Wright enlisted Fawkes as a ringer, reasoning that his military skills — he had participated in the 1595 capture of Calais, France — and his anonymity as a foreign soldier made him an ideal candidate to help execute their plan.
Fawkes' henchmen were zealous Catholics who believed that by beheading the government, they might usher in a new era of Catholicism in Protestant England. Led by Catesby, they hatched a plan to explode gunpowder under Parliament during a state opening, when King James I, his queen, and other family members and government leaders were inside. The plot was set for Nov. 5, 1605, and in the preceding days, the conspirators rented a cellar underneath the building, where Fawkes stashed at least 20 barrels of gunpowder.
Things didn't go according to plan. The plotters sought wider support, and, as the story goes, one of the individuals to whom they reached out alerted his brother-in-law, a lord, not to attend Parliament on Nov. 5. The building was searched, and Fawkes was apprehended along with his stockpile of gunpowder. Tortured on the rack, he revealed the names of his co-conspirators. Some of them were killed while resisting arrest; others, including Fawkes, pled not guilty and went to trial, where they were convicted of high treason. In January, 1606, the remaining conspirators were hanged, drawn and quartered. Parliament immediately established Nov. 5 as a day of celebration.
Today, Guy Fawkes Day — also known as Bonfire Night — is marked across the United Kingdom by celebrations. To foot the bill for the traditional fireworks, children roam the streets in the days leading up to the event, brandishing their effigies — known as "Guys" — and ask passers-by for a "penny for the guy." Families gather for food and festivities that might seem incongruous with the event's bloody origins — although perhaps not as incongruous as lighting fireworks and bonfires to celebrate an abortive attempt at arson.
In recent years, Fawkes' legacy has broadened. He provided the inspiration for the tile character in the Wachowski brothers' V for Vendetta, in which a masked crusader embarks on a terrorist campaign against a totalitarian British dystopia. Fawkes also proved an effective fundraising rally cry for onetime U.S. presidential candidate Ron Paul, who garnered more than $4 million on the holiday in 2007 from a website commemorating Fawkes. This year, revelers will gather across Britain — most notably in Lewes, a town once known as a hotbed of anti-Catholicism sentiment that throws one of the British Isles' biggest conflagrations — and in nations ranging from South Africa and Canada to New Zealand and Australia. Guards will also perform the annual search —more pageantry than precaution—of the Houses of Parliament to ensure no would-be Fawkes is lurking. Though the animosity and rituals may merely be symbolic at this point, the celebrations still burn brightly.
