There’s two bits of Thor casting news in my in-tray but they’re of such completely completely different scales - think a Smurf sitting on the shoulder of a Na’vi.
The movie’s story sees the god of thunder Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth. There’s two bits of Thor casting news in my in-tray but they’re of such completely... more
The Marvel Heroes have come and gone over the past few years; some have successfully had multiple movies, while others were finished after their first.
Here is the ultimate face-off between heroes, as reviewed by Total Film.
"What is it in France they say? 'America contributed three things to culture: jazz, musical comedy and comic books.'" You can already buy two on iTunes. And if things pan out, you'll be get the third on the Apple tablet.
It's an easy presumption for comic book fans. The Sun Times' Andy Inhatko is betting that LongBox, a digital distribution platform for comic books, will make an appearance on Apple's upcoming tablet. More than just an appearance, really:
I'm pretty sure that Apple is entering into a formal alliance with LongBox. When I asked [LongBox CEO Rantz] Hoseley about what kind of partnerships the company is forming, he spoke vaguely of what was taking up most of his time at the moment: a lengthy and complicated agreement with a seriously large company operating in the media space.
One problem: Several sources I spoke to over the last couple of weeks, including top-level executives at giants like Marvel and DC, have said they've not heard a whisper from Apple—despite a nearly desperate hope that Apple would come a-courtin'. One executive said to me, when I mentioned the possibility of putting his comic books on the Apple tablet, "If you've heard anything from Apple, please tell them I'm ready to do it.""What is it in France they say? When Disney bought Marvel Comics two months ago, it capped an astonishing turnaround for a company that had been in bankruptcy just over a decade ago. Marvel Comics editor-in-chief and Big Apple Comic-Con guest of honor Joe Quesada hosted his very own question-and-answer panel at the New York City-based convention this past weekend, with Wizard Magazine's managing editor Casey Seijas assisting the discussion.
"I love doing these Q&A's," Quesada said at the panel's outset. "This is your time to ask questions about what it's like working at Marvel and what it's like to be editor-in-chief--all that sort of stuff. This is as good a time as you guys make it."Marvel Comics editor-in-chief and Big Apple Comic-Con guest of honor Joe Quesada... more
There's actually more to his quote than just that, but we'll get to that. As a reminder, Joe Quesada is the Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics. Essentially, he's the head honcho of the comics division who has a good say on the movie side of things as well (since he knows all of the characters so well). Quesada recently appeared at a panel at the Big Apple Comic-Con and Comic Book Resources(http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=23365) was there to cover his talk. If you're a fan of comics as well, the entire update is worth reading, but I'm specifically pulling out his small update on The First Avenger: Captain America. He doesn't say anything new, but it's a good quote. There's actually more to his quote than just that, but we'll get to that. As a... more

When MTV News caught up with "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau at the "Couples Retreat" junket a few weeks ago in Bora Bora, we were determined to get the filmmaker's take on how his much-anticipated sequel would connect with "The Avengers"—even if it took a bumpy ride in a golf cart to make the conversation happen. When MTV News caught up with "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau at the "Couples... more
t's always great to hear updates from Sir Ian McKellen on anything and everything. Empire(http://www.empireonline.com/news/feed.asp?NID=26035) just caught up with him at the San Sebastian Film Festival recently and asked him about two big projects: The Hobbit and X-Men Origins: Magneto. Before we get on to Hobbit, where he had more to say, McKellen said this about Magneto: “There's meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I've not read it, so I suspect it wouldn't involve me." McKellen also joked that "they can't have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer" since it'll focus on a young Magneto, as we already know. Let's move on to his other big project!t's always great to hear updates from Sir Ian McKellen on anything and everything.... more

Mid-Ohio-Con has just released a preview image of Fred Hembeck’s exclusive Mid-Ohio-Con poster, an homage to the cover of Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #1, as originally done by Mike Zeck. Two more actors have joined Thor. Jaimie Alexander (Kyle XY) and Colm Feore (Riddick, Face/Off) have joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s Marvel comic book adaptation. Alexander will play Sif, who is skilled Asgardian warrior who can hold her own, and is a love interest of Thor. However, the identity of Feore’s character is being kept tightly under wraps, and THR claims “the studio isn’t even sending the actors the script — though it is known to be a villain.”Two more actors have joined Thor. Super Hero Squad is Cartoon Network’s most recent jump into the super-hero genre. Based on the toy miniatures collection of Marvel heroes and villains by Hasbro, Super Hero Squad replicates the over-the-top feel of the “us vs. them” toy-based cartoons of the 80s with the wit and malevolent glee of the Warner Bros. renaissance cartoons of the 90s.Super Hero Squad is Cartoon Network’s most recent jump into the super-hero genre.... more
