A cinema projectionist (Kinski) becomes entangled in a dangerous liaison with a silver screen femme fatale (Kirschner). Spanning several cinematic styles and eras, the Secret Adventures of the Projectionist is a tribute to the cinema of yesteryear.
"An expert weaving of movie references, constructed with Pirandellian glee, done with great professionalism and flair. Visually sophisticated and playful, with great use of colour and texture, spinning the viewer into a kaleidoscope of responses. Performed with a nice sense of allusion. Very impressive."

The lobster taser, which looks to me mostly like a lobster photocopier, is supposedly a more humane way of dispatching the delicious bottomfeeders than the normal "stab in the brain" or "boil alive" methods. Also, tasers.
Each stun, of about 110 volts, delivers a shock that immediately and effectively disables the lobster's nervous system, allowing you to brain-stab or boil with no fear that you'll be going to some sort of hell presided over by giant lobsters in which you're boiled alive and served with a delicious lemon-butter-caper sauce and maybe some kind of side salad, even though you know the lobster that ends up eating you is going to ignore the salad because hello, human! Delicious!
The lobster taser is officially, and disappointingly, called the CrustaStun. Opportunity missed, Lobster Taser Inventors.

Over on Independent Eye, Vadim Rizov praises John Woo in lieu of Red Cliff's release this Friday:
"The decade-plus Woo spent in Hollywood had its ups and downs. The ups included the peak violence of "Face/Off"; the downs, according to conventional wisdom, included practically everything else. "Hard Target" is fine for connoisseurs of Van Damme cheese (I dig it), but was not a dignified start to Woo's American career. "Broken Arrow" was a hit but not widely beloved. Throw in a Dolph Lundgren direct-to-video special and the final insult of directing a rejected pilot for a "Lost In Space" update before leaving, and you're sure not looking at the American equivalent of "Hard Boiled."

Sin City 2 has been a project sitting on the horizon for several years. It has started to seem like one of those things that co-director Robert Rodriguez likes to keep on the table because he knows it gets fan attention, while not necessarily being a film he really plans to make.
Now producer Stephen L’Heureux says that Sin City 2 will go into production at the end of 2010, and that Frank Miller will follow it with a film version of Hard Boiled, the uber-detailed and hyper-violent comic written by Miller and drawn by Geoff Darrow.Sin City 2 has been a project sitting on the horizon for several years.
