I don’t disagree with either the statement of the problem (although there’s more at work than CEO pay), nor do I have any moral or ethical problems with the solution, in concept. At some point the accumulation of material wealth becomes a pathology, and no society that hopes to thrive can allow itself to be held captive to the sickness of its elite minority.
But this petition is a waste of time. Two reasons....I don’t disagree with either the statement of the problem (although... more
All the talk of Sweetbay Supermarket closings in the Tampa Bay area reminded me of this story from a happier time for the company, when it had just rebranded from Kash n Karry. New CEO Shelly Broader personally took me around a store pointing out all the cool new stuff. It was a fun cover story, although after it ran, we heard she hated the "Food Fight" cover line and the allusion to 'Animal House.' Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein Wants Seniors to Get Less
The hypocrisy of Lloyd Blankfein, a Wall Street banker, and other corporate leaders who have inserted themselves into the debate over major tax and spending decisions under consideration in Congress is nothing short of repugnant. Blankfein's Goldman Sachs got billions from the federal government during the Wall Street bailouts, enabling him to hold a job that paid him $16.1 million in 2011, and now he wants the rest of us to take a pay cut -- now and in the future. Referring to Social Security, he told CBS, "You're going to have to do something, undoubtedly, to lower people's expectations of what they're going to get." That's a second-rate vision for a first world country, and we just voted for a lot better than that.
Blankfein is one of many Fortune 500 CEOs who joined together under the name "Fix the Debt," a campaign to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to address the federal deficit during the fiscal showdown. This group of more than 90 CEOs is pushing cuts to middle-class programs while shielding millionaires, billionaires and big corporations from tax increases.
Each of these executives has amassed retirement assets averaging more than $9.1 million, according to a report released today by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS). Of the more than 90 CEOs involved in Fix the Debt, 41 run companies with pension programs, but only two of those plans are fully funded, IPS said. It's the second impressive IPS report in the last week, and it lays bare the flagrant hypocrisy of these captains of finance and industry.

Americans don't like lawyers. They aren't too hot on reporters either. And when it comes to politicians Congress can't get any lower than their 12% approval rating. And right up there in the Pantheon of the Hated are CEOs. Your average citizen thinks they are arogant, greedy, out of touch, and completely devoid of morals. Yet, Mitt Romney wants to be a CEO President in the worst way.Americans don't like lawyers. They aren't too hot on reporters either. And... more

There is a reason we refer to government as the “Ship of State” and not “Government Inc.” That’s why ship captains make much better templates for President than CEOs and Mittgate shows it. When a ship runs aground the captain is ALWAYS responsible. There is no ducking responsibility by saying, “Someone else was piloting the boat.” The ship ran aground. It happened on your watch. You are responsible, regardless of the bone-headed mistakes your crew may have made. It’s called the “responsibility of command”.There is a reason we refer to government as the “Ship of State” and not... more

Under fire from President Barack Obama and some members of Congress, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan said he is “incensed” by the public criticism of his company and argued that critics are ignoring the good work his employees do.
“I, like you, get a little incensed when you think about how much good all of you do, whether it’s volunteer hours, charitable giving we do, serving clients and customers well,” Moynihan said to BoA employees in a “global town hall” meeting last week, Bloomberg reports.
The CEO said that critics should consider the bank’s positive contributions before rushing to criticism.
“You ought to think a little about that before you start yelling at us,” he said, adding that critics ““usually quiet down pretty quickly when they start to understand the facts and figures.”

THEY have no understanding of the real world... the "good all you do" - serving clients & customers well.. THAT IS YOUR FU@KING JOB! Don't act as if you are a do-gooder cause of that! My friend wrote once on a very cynical day for her, but it applies here and to the Koch's involvement with PBS & Ballet, and with donated POCKET CHANGE to foundations/think tanks that support the issues that help make them richer!!!!

After the coming global collapse - the big wake-up call - classical economics will be exposed as a fraud sabotaging investors, destroying America.
Yes, new rules. Why? Because everything you know about economics is wrong. Everything. The old economics is a rigged game in a Wall Street casino. Worse, America is losing. After the coming global collapse - the big wake-up call - classical economics will be... more

Eric Schmidt a former CEO of Google analysis its positions and think that during last year company released many products such as Google +, Google Voice and so on but it isn’t enough. Nowadays companies move even faster and Google has to follow them.
“With Google's plans to purchase Motorola Mobility and with its Android operation system already on around 50% of smart phones it's a big growth area for the company,” says Schmidt.
CEO highlights the power of “mobile revolution.” But Google services are not so popular as Facebook and Twitter. But if we are talking about search engines, Google poses one of the leading positions. And if they continue to become more accessible for every person, they will success in modern community.

n a tragic moment for Steve Jobs, there is a bright spot: Tim Cook, who will succeed Jobs as Apple's CEO, is an incredibly thorough and detail oriented boss who has revolutionized the way computers are assembled and steadily held the confidence of Apple's employees and partners. He is also, as we reported in January, destined to become an icon for gay advancement.
As chief operating officer, Cook has been running day to day operations since Jobs's most recent medical leave began in January, deferring strategic decisions and other CEO prerogatives to Jobs. Apple's growth and stellar financial performance have continued unabated under his watch.
Today, Cook has graduated from a high profile tech executive serving as caretaker of the world's biggest tech company to the head of what, on some days, is now the biggest company in the world, period. He's also gone from being the most powerful gay man in Silicon Valley to the most powerful gay man in the world, bar none.
