One of the many things that caught my eye on their page was how ADF refers to those who are fighting against our equality laws as "disenfranchised Oregonians." What? No one was deprived of their right to vote here. The did not get enough signatures to stop the laws from going to effect! Who would end up being disenfranchised? The entire GLBT...One of the many things that caught my eye on their page was how ADF refers to those... more

Update on topic of my previous post today with additional info. found at Just Out Blog. In my previous post today, info. from BRO had noted that IP 144 had not been withdrawn--sounds like this new initiative IP 146 is crafted to replace the poorly crafted IP 144. Don't they have anything better to do? If only this were all an "April fools" joke!Update on topic of my previous post today with additional info. found at Just Out... more

Initiative Petition 146. The OR legislators against equality laws have filed a 3rd petition. Late yesterday, the groups seeking to overturn Oregon ’s equality laws filed another initiative petition to repeal the domestic partnership law. How can we change the world? Even just 1 or 2 individuals like these makes a difference! That marriage is "not a legal or civil contract," rather it is solely a "religious covenant."...been to countless weddings, but this...this is a new day in our world. Evidently there is also still a challenge going on over the specific ballot titles for these initiatives... Oregon voters may well face two issues this fall that many people probably think were resolved some time ago: the state's anti-discrimination and domestic-partner laws... organizers who had months to do so were unable to gather even the bare minimum of valid signatures to block the domestic-partner matter in the first place. Call me crazy, but...Oregon voters may well face two issues this fall that many people probably think were... more

I am wondering, what is the fundamental difference between the citizens at large in Washington and the citizens at large in Oregon? Washington not only passed the DP law last year--without attempts to repeal it--but this year are expanding benefits!
In Oregon, we didn't even make it 30 days without opponents pledging to repeal and strip our equality laws. We are so close to Washington, and yet so far in terms of "equality"...I am wondering, what is the fundamental difference between the citizens at large in... more

This is quite possibly the most eloquent article I have read to date (IMHO) about the struggle same-sex couples have faced in Oregon since 2004. "It was just over a month ago that Basic Rights Oregon and GLBT folk in our town were celebrating a rousing legal victory over discrimination, injustice and out-of-town conservative interest groups. ...So it was with a resounding and unsurprising thud that the shoe dropped when two Republican state legislators... The other shoe is dropped and the roller coaster carrying over thirteen hundred hopeful, optimistic couples..." There is much more in between this and throughout this article to take in. Well worth the read! This is quite possibly the most eloquent article I have read to date (IMHO) about the... more

Did you know your domestic partnership is a ruse for the real purpose of the "gay agenda"?
I did not know this either. But these various groups/individuals seek to enlighten their fellow man concerning the real reason we all lined up for our domestic partnerships, the real reason we do not want our equality laws rolled back: purportedly because the "activist homosexual community" is seeking the "destruction of marriage altogether." Further unbelievable assertions excerpted from this article:Did you know your domestic partnership is a ruse for the real purpose of the "gay... more
