Russell T Davies has been quoted as saying that the Torchwood that returns next season may not be the one people are expecting to see... But is that because John Barrowman may be jumping ship to star in Desperate Housewives?
Digital Spy is reporting that Barrowman told Radio 1 listeners in the UK that he's in talks to join the cast of ABC's once-popular soap opera, apparently saying,
I'm off to Los Angeles on Sunday again. I probably shouldn't say this but I've got a meeting with the execs of Desperate Housewives. Can you believe it - I'm going to be a Desperate Housewife!
It's unknown currently what kind of role Barrowman could be meeting about, but should he end up a series regular, that may make his availability for Torchwood much smaller. Would Davies and the BBC make a Torchwood without its core character, or would they delay a fourth season until Barrowman was free? Series creator Marc Cherry let slip Wednesday that he is in talks with ABC about continuing the hit comedy-drama for another two seasons.
"I started recently talks with (ABC Entertainment president) Steve McPherson and (ABC Studios president) Mark Pedowitz about continuing the show for a ninth season," Cherry was quoted saying at a cake-cutting ceremony for the show's 100th episode. “Desperate Housewives” actor Gale Harold has been moved out of intensive care at a Los Angeles hospital and is improving daily after suffering serious injuries in a motorcycle accident last week. A statement from the actor’s representatives says that “a full recovery is expected.”
Harold had suffered swelling on the brain and a fractured shoulder after last week’s accident. He had been under observation in the intensive care unit at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. The statement, released Thursday night, added: “He thanks everyone for their good wishes.”
Harold currently plays “Jackson,” Teri Hatcher’s character’s love interest in the 5th season of “Desperate Housewives.” Gale is previously best well known for playing the sexual lothario, Brian Kinney, in Showtime’s U.S. version of “Queer As Folk.”

Michael Bolton and Desperate Housewives actress Nicollette Sheridan have ended their engagement, they have announced.
The pair first started dating in 1992 and spent five years together. They rekindled their romance in 2005 before getting engaged the following year. A publicist for the singer and Sheridan said the split was amicable. The 44-year-old actress, who plays Edie Britt in Desperate Housewives, was born in Worthing, West Sussex. Bolton, 55, has sold more than 50 million records.
Sheridan got married to LA Law actor Harry Hamlin in 1991 but the relationship ended a year later. Bolton, who was married to Maureen McGuire between 1975 and 1990, started out as the lead singer with hard rock band Blackjack before finding success as a solo artist. He and Sheridan recorded a duet together, The Second Time Around, which appeared on the 2006 album Bolton Swings Sinatra.
