The Commuter Bike concept was the winner of the Commuter Bike Design Competition held at Bicycle Design Blog. The bike, if produced, would be lightweight, fashioned from either carbon fiber or flax fiber, contains a rooftop solar panel to charge its LED lamps and would be driven by a rubber belt running throughout its body. The Commuter Bike concept was the winner of the Commuter Bike Design Competition held... more

Well, not literal dancing buildings. That would just be the lamest Transformer ever. Instead, Obscura Digital has used their cutting edge propriety software to create and control a giant HD light show involving seven perfectly mapped projectors and the building façade of downtown San Francisco’s Mint Plaza. The result is seamless 3D graphics that transforms and manipulates the mundane real world into something much more surreal.Well, not literal dancing buildings. There are some things in this weary world of ours that we look at and say ‘that shouldn’t exist’. And then there are others that make us think ‘if only I had been that clever’. I think this is a melding of the two: Air Guitar Strings. Genius and stupidity, side by side. It’s a little known fact but, apparently, air guitar is serious business. And no self-respecting air guitarist can play without their very important air guitar strings. Duh!There are some things in this weary world of ours that we look at and say ‘that... more

Combining the popularity of LED lighting with the primal instinct to keep one’s hair dry has finally made umbrellas kind of cool. Lovingly referred to across the web as the “Light Saber Umbrella”, it’s just like a traditional umbrella but instead of an ordinary, boring handle we get a colorful, glowing handle comprised of LED lights giving it a light saber effect.Combining the popularity of LED lighting with the primal instinct to keep one’s... more

Igor Chak has designed one of the coolest looking motorbike concepts I've ever seen.
The concept is made using a unique 'diamond' shape and constructed out of unibody, a mix oif carbon fiber, aluminum, and titanium. It's powered by a four-cylinder liquid hydrogen engine and even includes an on-board computer located on top of the fuel tank, obviously this being a concept the computer uses a 5" OLED multi-touch display positioned right on the fuel tank and has GPS, Drive and diagnostics mode.
There's a whole host of other cool features on the bike, but apart from all of that, it looks seriously badass!Igor Chak has designed one of the coolest looking motorbike concepts I've ever... more

Amputees and people with difficulty standing could soon move using a ‘wearable transportation device’ that gives the effect of walking.
Exmovere Holdings has unveiled a self-balancing, hands-free concept vehicle called the Chariot, which is controlled by subtle movements of the lower torso and hips.
Sensors inside the cocoon-like shell of the vehicle interpret gentle pressure changes from the wearer’s body to predict their intended motion and carry out the action.Amputees and people with difficulty standing could soon move using a ‘wearable... more

Now this isn't a brand new concept, but it looks like things are getting closer to becoming more than just a pipe dream.
Current user 'YesWeDid' submitted this story five months ago ( http://tinyurl.com/c6lnjk ) with a few pics of the Glassy Glassy Mobile Phone Concept by Tokyo based designer Mac Funamizu.
Well, it seems they're getting a bit more coverage on the internetz again, which given how damned sexy they look, isn't that much of a surprise.
But would you swap your current phone for one of these...?Now this isn't a brand new concept, but it looks like things are getting closer... more

There's not much info on this, all I know is that it looks amazing, would probably kill me within 5 minutes of riding and that, at present, it's only a concept...

Designer Yael Mer’s quirky Evacuation Skirt was conceived after the flooding in New Orleans. She says she wanted to raise the question of whether emergency and beauty can be intertwined. “The skirt keeps its glamorous look when it’s deflated on the one hand, and on the other, it inflates into a kayak with the right amount of volume to carry a grown up woman.”Designer Yael Mer’s quirky Evacuation Skirt was conceived after the flooding in... more

The flying car is no longer science fiction. Terrafugia, a start up in Massachusetts, U.S.A., is currently road and air testing the Transition. "If you think robots might one day control human beings, then you are right, because the process is already underway. The Viking mega-robot “Little Big Man” is controlled by another robot, which makes it believable to think that robots might eventually control humans too. The tinier robot is placed within a neon cave in the bigger Viking’s radio cabinet chest.
Showcased at the San Jose Museum of Art, the robot was built by Nemo Gould. Nemo has also built other robots such as the “Above It All,” which has a tripod-like design and follows the same pattern of having a robot within a robot. The toad, the deer, and the blink, which is made of recycled materials, are some of the other interesting robot models by Nemo Gould..."

"Another unique conceptual city bike by Yirong Yang, called the Rotation. ‘Rotation’ is a city rotating and folding bike concept design which seems to be a combination of unicycle and bicycle. Riders of this road bike can sway on choice as to what he has to ride and accordingly adjust the axis in between to give desired shape. Once you are done with your riding, you can fold it and carry very easily unlike normal bicycle. Let just hope it will come into production soon!...""Another unique conceptual city bike by Yirong Yang, called the Rotation.... more

"Right off the bat the Di-Cycle design is eye-catching. Imagine the looks you would get pedaling this down the road, smashing into cars and bumping old ladies off the sidewalk. Now imagine the looks you would get when you turn sharply toward the neighborhood pool, ride in and mow down all of the swimmers flailing around in the water trying desperately to escape. Apparently that pleasant dream is possible with this bizarre looking contraption. Unfortunately, you are going to have to rein in your bicycle blood lust for now. The Di-Cycle is only in the design phase at the moment...""Right off the bat the Di-Cycle design is eye-catching. Imagine the looks you... more
