About the book
This book is the self expression counter culture bible of our generation. It's not surprising that traditional publishers find it too controversial to print. But you have the power to make this book be printed. And by doing so, you will get a copy.
Thousands of people have helped and been photographed in order to create this book. All of the photographs were taken at Burning Man over many years. It's time for us to self publish with your help.

With a rocket ship about to land by the Bay, can Starfleet Headquarters be far behind? Help San Francisco build its first space port - and support the arts, too!
The Black Rock Arts Foundation writes:
The 40-foot-tall art piece, The Raygun Gothic Rocketship, offers rococo-futuristic, highly-stylized vision of space travel circa 1930's-1940's science fiction and is the latest in a series of temporary public art exhibitions sponsored by BRAF with the aim of enlivening and activating public spaces. The installation first landed at Burning Man 2009, and has subsequently appeared at NASA Ames for Yuri's Night, and at Maker Faire. The piece is comprised of a single rocketship, poised as if to board passengers for a typical run to a nearby stellar destination. When installed in San Francisco, the sculpture will be accompanied by a descriptive exhibit, a "rocket stop", which tells the story of the rocketship, provides route, schedule and other information. The installation will be illuminated for nighttime viewing. We need your support!!!
Want to donate to the arts, and help build a rocket stop where cosmonauts can grab some lunch before heading back to the stars? Donate here.

"Change is inevitable. Change is constant," as Benjamin Disraeli said, standing on the shoulders of Heraclitus. The Flux Foundation embraces this knowledge as they create the Temple for Burning Man 2010.
The Burning Man Temple is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. It is an institution dedicated to remembrance, catharsis, and rebirth – an essential place of memorial for the over 45,000 participants who attend Burning Man every year. This year, it will also be dedicated to change.
This year's temple, The Temple of Flux, is being built in West Oakland at American Steel by a newly formed group of artists, the Flux Foundation, led by three established artists specializing in large-scale sculptures, Rebecca Anders, Jess Hobbs, and Peter Kimmelman. The Flux Foundation is a collaboration of many Bay Area communities, including the Flaming Lotus Girls, the SpaceCowboys, House of Lotus, the Department of Spontaneous Combustion, Burning Man's Department of Public Works, the Deep End/Distrikt, House of Lotus, Neuroweapon and so many others. The crew are carpenters, artists, metal workers, machinists, pyrotechnicians, and a vast array of other individuals from the Bay Area and beyond. They have a huge range of experience and backgrounds, with one unfying vision: Creating awe-inspiring, memorable art that emerges from the community and inspires change.
The groups draws from a pool of talent and experience that is unique in the Temple's history, and for the first time ever, the project is being lead primarily by women. It is the aim of the Flux Foundation to empower women, in the traditionally male-dominated field of large-scale art, by creating a supportive hands-on educational environment for all genders.
This is the first chapter in the story of this very big art created by amazing minds, hands and hearts in West Oakland, CA. There's much more to come. Be part of making the temple a reality! Visit http://www.temple2010.org or http://kck.st/bvavk2 for more information.

tankwa karoo [za]: afrika burn
the afrika burn experimental arts festival is back on sep 9-13. inspired by burning man in the u.s., it’s in fact a regional equivalent. for each edition creatives to come up with amazing installations, performances, art cars or a different artistic initiative. all works will eventually be burnt according to the event’s principles. afrika burn takes place at a remote spot, the karoo. this is a semi-desert northeast of cape town and participants are required to come well-prepared. location: stonehenge farm, karoo national park.
Brendan Smithers is the prime mover and ”Drill Sergeant” for the Upsetters, who created The Turbine for Africa Burns 2007 and The Wish for 2008, as well as being involved in the creation of the San Clan (Man) itself. As much as anyone else he has made his mark on the Festival, predominantly in his large scale work. So what thoughts lead to such powerful, iconic pieces?tankwa karoo [za]: afrika burn

Pranksters at Burning Man have changed the sign on top of the infamous Thunderdome to read “Hot Topic”. Bravo!
Thunderdome, where epic Mad Max style battles take place between bungee suspended warriors, is run by the San Francisco goth/industrial group Death Guild and of course Hot Topic is where suburban goth kids buy their clothes at the mall.Pranksters at Burning Man have changed the sign on top of the infamous Thunderdome to... more

I live in Portland, Oregon. Many of my friends have been working all year on one of this city's biggest art projects on the playa (2nd to Basura Sagrada, a.k.a. The Temple) by our dear friend Tuk Tuk.
I would love to see a pod on them, as I'm sadly not at Burning Man this year.
They're located at 3:00 & Esplanade.
