If you missed the Flaming Lips doing “Dark Side on the Moon” on New Year’s Eve, never fear. Spinner.com reports the band will revive their throwback set at Bonnaroo:
“As of yesterday, we’re gonna do it at Bonnaroo at the midnight slot, the first night,” Coyne says. “We do a Flaming Lips set then starting about 2:30 we do this ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ thing. In that sense, it’s perfect for that. It lets you play a little bit longer.”

The Flaming Lips have finally released their long-awaited film debut, Christmas On Mars: A Fantastical Film Freak-out Featuring The Flaming Lips. The film, which took over 7 years to complete, was directed by lead singer Wayne Coyne and stars members of the band as well as Adam Goldberg.
In this special, Wayne Coyne hosts a half hour of Current Music where he discusses the making of the film and soundtrack as well as giving our audience a look at clips from the movie, behind the scenes footage, and other inside thoughts on the themes of the film.
The New York Times wrote that Christmas On Mars is "destined for cult status. Forget the plot, it's about textures: black and white images with psychedelic bursts; dashes of David Lynch, the '70s midnight movie Dark Star and 2001; an echo of The Wizard of Oz; and in a riff on maternity, maybe an iota of The Matrix."The Flaming Lips have finally released their long-awaited film debut, Christmas On... more

Wayne Coyne got 1,000 people to don skeleton costumes and march through OK City. Wayne Coyne is awesome.
Lots of good clips of this, this is one of the best. Kind of reminds me of Carnival in Spain.

As a veteran of the festival scene, having been to Bonnaroo three times, all five Langerado festivals, as well as plenty of others over the years, I was excited, ready, and aware for what was in store for me at The Echo Project. It was a novel idea, to produce an ecologically friendly and aware music festival on a grand scale in the middle of October in the South. I found it to be brilliant, as did many others.
My friend and I drove through the night Thursday night with my dog from midnight till 8 am. We arrived at our hotel to find our room was given away, after we had confirmed it numerous times including late that night. After searching and finding a new hotel, we checked in and left for the festival. I hadn't forgotten, but certainly was brutally reminded of the intense clouds of thick dirt and dust that fill the air at many festivals.
The thousands of people tracking it all up constantly with their cars, all of the walking and the dancing. It was nearly impossible to breathe, and almost anywhere you walked you would find people with bandannas and handkerchiefs around their nose and mouth. I should have taken influence from these wise individuals, as I am still suffering from severe bronchitis and respiratory problems. The forty degree drop in temperature from getting sunburned and baked at 80 degrees and then trembling through the night at 40 degrees didn't help the situation much either.
While all of this sounds rough, and well, it was; the festival was still magical as all festivals tend to be. It had all of the beauty and character of the many festivals I have been to before. It had its notable performances from The Egg to The Disco Biscuits (kings of the late night festival scene). It had the myth and wonder of the old and faithful in Phil Lesh and Friends closing out the festival, and it had the excitement of the new with mind blowing body slamming electro clash funk outfit MSTRKRFT. The vibe was still invigorating, and the setting was gorgeous on a vast farm with beautiful trees surrounding you. Through my sickness and exhaustion, here is what I captured for everyone as a little smorgasbord montage of the festival and its beauty. As a veteran of the festival scene, having been to Bonnaroo three times, all... more

New Zealand has long been known as the extreme sports capital of the world - those crazy Kiwis are credited with inventing everything from jet boating to bungee jumping. The latest? It's called "zorbing." Participants, called "zorbonauts," are strapped into giant plastic balls called zorbs (which are sometimes loaded with a few gallons of water), and then sent off to roll down hills at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour.New Zealand has long been known as the extreme sports capital of the world - those... more
