People often ask me what my favorite restaurant is, or my favorite meal, and that's always hard to answer. To me, eating is all about the energy - who you're dining with, how the staff treats you, the strangers in the restaurant, and how you feel during and after consuming the food.
My experience at Carousel hit all the marks - the energy was great, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the food was outstanding. And it definitely helped that I had some great company - I went as a guest of Sam Khalaf from Cruzer Pizza, as he's a big fan of their food. While I won't call this my favorite restaurant, this was definitely one of the best meals I've had in L.A., and I've been raving about it ever since I left.
Coincidentally, that very day the owner (Mike Tcholakian) of the restaurant was working on the vegan menu, so he brought us out a ton of food to try. While the lentils were my favorite, everything was very fresh and flavorful. The falafel was the best I've ever had - crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The Mousaaka (eggplant) was also fantastic. It was extremely authentic Middle Eastern food - Sam said it reminds him of what his family makes.
Our feast included:
* Hammos
* Tabbuleh
* Mutabbal (Baba Rannuj)
* Sarma (grape leaves)
* Lentil soup
* Falafel
* Mousaaka (eggplant)
* Kebbeh Aadas (red lentils)

“Carousel” is a short film directed by Adam Berg, which won the Cannes-Lions 2009 Film Grand Prix. The film offers viewers an exploration into one single frozen moment of time in a robbery gone terribly wrong, presented in one continuous tracking shot. “Carousel” makes you feel as if you’re traveling through a single photograph, with a narrative developing as the camera roams around the scene, returning to the opening shot at the end. The film is about a tumultuous heist set in a hospital, with the police facing off against a gang of criminals wearing clown masks and boiler suits. On its own, it clocks in at (a totally coincidental) two minutes and 19 seconds, but Berg conceived it to work as a loop, which is how it’s shown here.
This piece includes a number of high-resolution photographs, as well as the award-winning short film, “Carousel.”

Well, this is a very melancholy picture. I'd say that the carousel horse is yearning for the laughing children of summer and waits for them behind a veil of tears. A truly poetic photograph. It's accompanied here by an enchanting 3-min. animated musical short film, “A Ride on a Magical Carousel.”

What happens when you cross two jet engines and a carousel? Watch the video to find out.....
"This jet powered carousel is brought to you by the Madagascar Institute. They convene, or collide, to create large scale art, sculptures, and rides. This one seems to fit the last definition. The two gentlemen are strapped to a jet powered carousel. It actually looks pretty fun, but we would have been needing some fresh shorts after the jet bursts into flames near the end. He didn’t seem too concerned, he wasn’t screaming and flailing his arms at least."

This is not your ordinary viral video. It’s an impossible time-slice one-shot of the biggest, most destructive cops vs. clowns battle you’ll ever see (this side of the last Batman movie). And it’s called Carousel, because Adam designed it to be watched in an endless loop.This is not your ordinary viral video. It’s an impossible time-slice one-shot of... more
