In this scene from "50 Documentaries to See Before You Die," Errol Morris looks back on interviewing former US Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara for 2003's "The Fog of War." The Academy Award-winning documentary combines military archival footage and recordings with an intimate interview from 85-year-old McNamara. Here, Erroll Morris reveals how he managed to secure so much time with McNamara and why his filmmaking invention, "the Interrotron," helped create the most comfortable shooting environment possible.
Renowned documentarian Morgan Spurlock hosts "50 Documentaries To See Before You Die," a celebration of the most remarkable and moving documentaries released in the past 25 years. It examines how the documentary feature has evolved into an increasingly popular genre, becoming a major box office draw and impacting contemporary American culture in ways never seen before.
"50 Documentaries To See Before You Die" airs Tuesdays at 9/8c throughout August on Current TV.

“The demilitarization of Europe — where large swaths of the general public and political class are averse to military force and the risks that go with it — has gone from a blessing in the 20th century to an impediment to achieving real security and lasting peace in the 21st century.”

I think this pretty much ends the debate on whether governments can control the weather, cause earthquakes or even volcanoes using HAARP type of electro-magnetic waves! Now, can we quit calling it a 'conspiracy' and Chavez is crazy and do something about it?
This is straight from Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen
Others are engaging even in an eco- type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves.
The rest of his speech at the DoD News Briefing can be read at the link above:
Remember the word, HAARP. No, not global warming, not accidental earthquakes, eco-terrorism using electromagnetic waves. This is coming from the freaking SECRETARY OF DEFENSE.
Debate over, hear me, debate over, HAARP can cause earthquakes, alter the climate and even trigger volcanoes. This is crimes against humanity and must be stopped.I think this pretty much ends the debate on whether governments can control the... more

BLACKWATER/XE ACCUSED OF COMPLICITY IN TERRORISM AND WAR AGAINST US TROOPS
TOP TALIBAN MILITANTS RECEIVE MEDICAL CARE AT BAGRAM AIR FORCE BASE
From Sabrina Elkhani & Steve Nelson
Introduction and Editorial note: Gordon Duff, Senior Editor Veterans Today
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has been briefed by the Pakistani Military High Command that they are being overwhelmed by highly trained and extremely well armed militants in the border regions and terrorists operating across the country. We have been told by the highest sources that Blackwater/Xe and other US based mercenary groups have been actively attacking police, military and intelligence organizations in Pakistan as part of operations under employment of the Government of India and their allies in Afghanistan, the drug lords, whose followers make up the key components of the Afghan army.
Investigations referenced in the Pakistan Daily Mail by abrina Elkani and Steve Nelson indicate that, rather than hunt terrorists who have been killing Americans, these groups have actually taken key militant leaders into Afghanistan where they are kept safe and even offered medical treatment by the United States military. Years ago, we all heard the rumor that Osama bin Laden had received care at a US hospital in Qatar after leaving Sudan to take over what we claim was the planning of 9/11. FBI transcripts verify that bin Laden, according to testimony by former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds, was working for the US at that time and had maintained contact with his CIA handlers through the fateful summer of 2001.
The Army of Pakistan has been regularly capturing advanced weapons of Indian manufacture from militants in the border region. India maintains 17 “consular” camps inside Pakistan, near the border, adjacent to Blackwater facilities, falsely designated as CIA or USAID stations. Pakistan claims these operations train Taliban soldiers and terrorists for operations against civilian targets in Pakistan. Thousands have died in Pakistan over recent months during these attacks. Pakistan also contents these same groups are, not only fighting the Pakistan military but the Americans as well.
General Stanley McChrystal had withdrawn American forces from key areas in Afghanistan across from enemy held regions under attack by the Army of Pakistan. We are now told that this allowed those areas to become safe havens for forces formerly operating in Pakistan, who are now enjoying the freedom and hospitality of, not only Afghanistan but are being ignored by the NATO forces in the region.
The untold story is the massive complicity of Americans with their private airline, now suspected in yet another war, not Vietnam, not Central America/Iran Contra but Afghanistan, for a third time, of smuggling narcotics. The pattern is impossible to ignore.
Read the list of accusations. Note that many of them have been corroborated from 5 or more sources already:
Most Wanted Pak militants evacuated to Afghanistan
—Xe-Services, Afghan drug barons, RAW join hands to protect TTP militants
—severely hit by Pak troops, half dead top militants resurface in Afghanistan
—Maulavi Fazalullah, Qari Hussain, evacuated from Pakistan, treated at Bagram military hospital
—Balochistan’s ‘Missing People’ being trained in Afghanistan by RAW, Xe-Services
From Sabrina Elkhani & Steve Nelson
NKabul—While the Pakistan government continues to deny that the infamous private army of the United States, known as the Blackwaters or the Xe Services, Islamabad would defiantly be having no answer if questioned that in that case,

Weather modification and warfare are a reality. Climate Change theorists that stand to gain off of Climate Change regulation are also connected with the CIA, military, and the White House. Since we know the technology is out there and being used, why don't we use it to reverse Global Warming?
I believe the reason we are not doing this is because exactly the opposite is being done. Yes, I believe that not only is the technology being used as a weapon but also to stoke the flames of fear over Climate Change in order to gain control and money. This may seem outrageous but it is entirely possible and admitted by at least China, Russia and the U.S.
It is illogical to believe that we have this technology and haven't brought that to the table as a possible solution or contribution. Unless, both the technology and the intent are that this is to be used to create crises and perpetuate Global Warming fears.
So, I ask you to watch the video and this one linked here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/AutoActionCam#p/c/64B47E9DBD5B853A/2/WjNDstd1XHM
Then, tell me your opinion, are governments creating Global Warming with weather modification technology to take more of your money and your liberties?
I think the evidence and logic points to yes.
"Others [terrorists] are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves... So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations...It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our [counterterrorism] efforts." Secretary of Defense William Cohen at an April 1997 counterterrorism conference sponsored by former Senator Sam Nunn.

Maybe it's time for us to re-think where the worst terrorism is coming from...?

Do you know someone who has the flu? Have you ever had the flu? If you answered “yes” to any of those questions-Did you or the person you know take Tamiflu? If so, Donald Rumsfield thanks you. Not for preventing the spread of the flu, but for making him rich while stopping the spread of influenza.
Here are the facts. On November 1, 2005, then President George W. Bush went to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland to hold a high profile press conference, to announce a 381-page plan, officially called the Pandemic Influenza Strategic Plan. The President surrounded himself with half his cabinet, including Secretary of State Condi Rice, Secretaries of Homeland Security, Agriculture, Health & Human Services, Transportation and, Veterans Affairs. The White House also invited the Director-General of the World Health Organization, who flew in from Geneva for the occasion. Needless to say this was a big deal. The President’s opening remarks set the tone:
“At this moment, there is no pandemic influenza in the United States or the world. But if history is our guide, there is reason to be concerned. In the last century, our country and the world have been hit by three influenza pandemics — and viruses from birds contributed to all of them. The first, which struck in 1918, killed over half-a-million Americans and more than 20 million people across the globe…Scientists and doctors cannot tell us where or when the next pandemic will strike, or how severe it will be, but most agree: at some point, we are likely to face another pandemic. And the scientific community is increasingly concerned by a new influenza virus known as H5N1 — or avian flu…”
Here is where it gets interesting. Despite the stated absence of a clear and present danger to the American public, the President called on Congress to immediately pass a new $7.1 billion in emergency funding to prepare for possible future danger. The speech was a testament to the Bush Doctrine that President Bush is so well known for. BUT WAIT… The President’s list of emergency measures was a call for Congress to appropriate another $1 billion explicitly for Tamiflu. THATS ONE BILLION.
Tamiflu, made by Gilead Sciences, seems to work, so its no shock that it would be needed to be mass produced…wait, mass produced for an issue that isn’t even an issue. Seems odd. Well..its not only odd but it may have been unethical or illegal.
GUESS WHAT? The Secretary of Defense under President Bush, Donald H. Rumsfeld, was on the board of Gilead Sciences since 1988 and Chairman of the Board of Gilead Sciences from 1997 until early 2001 when he became Defense Secretary. On October 26, 2005, Sec. Rumsfield released a statement that he had “reclused” himself on any Pentagon discussions involving Gilead Sciences. Seems like a good move to remove himself from any “conflict of interest” issues, RIGHT? HOLD ON!!! Before he removed himself from “any further discussions”, Rummy purchased $18 million dollars in additional stock in Gilead Sciences, making him one of its largest if not the largest stock owners. That reclusion came after he had already scored his windfall on the Gilead Science stock price jump. How big was the price jump, you ask?
FACT: In 2001, when Rumsfield became Sec. of Defense and left Gilead Sciences’ board, the stock price went from $7.00 a share to $50.00 a share in 2005. That is a 720% profit from his initial investment 4 years earlier.
On November 15, 2005, Fortune Magazine reported:
“The Defense Secretary decided not to sell his many shares in Gilead so as to ‘avoid being accused of insider trading.’ If true, that means Mr. Rumsfeld, apparently not one to shy away from turning a fast buck, has bagged an eye-popping windfall, as demand for Tamiflu worldwide explodes. Today it is the hottest drug in the world market. On October 6, the Pentagon announced it had stockpiled quantities of Tamiflu for members of the military.”
Congrats to you Mr. Rumsfield.

Obama’s campaign promise to withdraw from Iraq is meeting the cold reality of politics on the ground. After an interview with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, George Will write: "Regarding Iraq, Gates is parsimonious with his confidence, noting that 'the multi-sectarian democracy has not sunk very deep roots yet.' He stresses, however, that there is bipartisan congressional support for 'a long-term residual presence' of perhaps 40,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, and that the president elect's recent statements have not precluded that. Such a presence 'for decades' has, he says, followed major U.S. military operations since 1945, other than in Vietnam. And he says, 'Look at how long Britain has had troops in Cyprus.'" Gates also foresees a long stay in Afghanistan.Obama’s campaign promise to withdraw from Iraq is meeting the cold reality of... more

Barring a miracle of epic proportions, less than one week from now the nation will choose Sen. Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. But who will this young Senator choose to serve in his cabinet? His choice for Secretaries of State, Defense and Treasury are key decisions that will shape the “Obama Doctrine” and determine whether he governs as a principled leftist, pragmatic leftist, or centrist. While not a perfect candidate, of the names floated thus far, I believe Republican Senator, Chuck Hagel would make the best Secretary of Defense in an Obama Administration.Barring a miracle of epic proportions, less than one week from now the nation will... more

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates flew into Iraq on Monday to oversee a change of command of American forces.
Gen. Ray Odierno will take over command Tuesday from Gen. David Petraeus, whose 20-month term in Iraq saw a significant decline in violence with the deployment of additional U.S. troops.
U.S. forces are in "mission transition," Gates said Monday, with some troops going home and others backing up Iraqis.
"There is no question we will still be engaged, but the areas in which we are seriously engaged will continue to narrow," Gates said during his flight to Iraq.
"The challenge for Odierno is how do we work with the Iraqis to preserve the gains we've already achieved and expand on them even as the number of U.S. forces are shrinking."
Odierno is expected to set the stage for an eventual U.S. withdrawal.
Petraeus will become the new chief of U.S. Central Command, in charge of American forces in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
Gates, who is making his eighth trip to Iraq, said Petraeus played a "historic role" during his tenure.

Stumbling towards disaster - again
Bush asked for - and received - $400,000,000 to conduct covert military operation against Iran.
A quote from the recent Sy Hersch article in the New Yorker
"Operations outside the knowledge and control of commanders have eroded “the coherence of military strategy,†one general says."
Further, it seems the only people in the government (or military) who favor an attack on Iran are Bush and Cheney:
Americans, help wake up your country! It is not the country we used to know anymore. We need new leadership now.

Tuesday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates sent a second aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf to “remind” Iran the US is ready to strike if sufficiently provoked.
"What the Iranians are doing is killing American servicemen and women inside Iraq," said Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Gates also insisted that Iran continues to back the Taliban.
The recent weeks have seen an increase in criticism toward Iran’s alleged support of the Taliban and efforts to supply militants in Iraq. Military commanders in Baghdad are expected to roll out evidence of that support soon - including date stamps on newly found weapons caches showing that recently made Iranian weapons are flowing into Iraq at a steadily increasing rate.
Gates’ comments contrasted with those from Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who said last week that he had not seen any new signs of Iranian support for the Taliban.
Later this week Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is expected to confront the Iranians with evidence of their meddling and demand a halt. If that doesn't produce results, the State Department has begun drafting an ultimatum that would tell the Iranians to knock it off - or else.
