‘THE PEACE-FOR-ALL-PRAYER’ – THE YAJURVAEDA VERSE
[A].THE INTRODUCTION:
Today, we get dismayed when we notice the mindless killing of the fellow human by a fellow human in different parts of the globe.
Then, we read and see reports about the thousands of innocent people, animals, birds and other creatures being killed by the non-human disasters like the earthquake in different parts of the Earth. Your heart gets disturbed on seeing the visuals of the helpless people being drown in the flood-waters or the mangled bits of a crashed-aeroplane with the body parts of the dead human-passengers strewn all around and so on.
It seems the whole world has become restless and consequently the peaceless. Then, we quietly switch off our TV sets, Laptops, PCs, Transistors, FMs and put the newspaper away so as not to get our blood pressure increased due to all these tension-giving media reports about the seemingly a lack of the peace in our otherwise beautiful serene world.
Being persons with a conscience, we start praying for the peace for our human race on this planet Earth. But, should we stop at praying for the peace for the humans only?
[B].THE DISCUSSION:
Thousands of years back, the Indian spiritual-scientists called the Reshhes taught the human race to pray for the peace not only for the human race but all other entities in our world. This is shown amply by the following Verse Number 36/17 in the Yajurvaeda, through which the Reshhes prayed for the peace for all the entities in the cosmos:
“Dhouuha ShanteRaAntreksham Shanteha Prthevee Shanteraapha Shanteroshhadhayha Shanteha I
Vanaspatayha ShanteRaVeshvae Daevaaha ShanteRaBrhma Shanteha Sarvm Shanteha Shanteraeva Shanteha Saa Maa Shanteraedhe II”
The meaning of the above-stated Verse is as under:
“The Peace for the Dhuloka [Heavens], the Peace for the Antreksha [Universe], the Peace for the Prthevee [Earth], the Peace for the Jala [Water], the Peace for the Auushhadhee [Herbal Medicines], the Peace for the Vanaspate [Plants], the Peace for the Daevataa [Gods/Goddesses/Deities], the Peace for the Brhma [Absolute], the Peace for the Sarva [Everything/Everyone], the Peace for the Shaante [Peace] and my this Peace may exist forever.”
This Vaedika Peace-Verse shows clearly that the ancient Indian Reshhes considered everything like the Earth, Water, Plants, Universe, etc in this world as possessing the consciousness and accordingly an identity of its own.
THE BRIEF EXPLANATION:
1. If the peace for the Heavens [the abode of the Divine Entities] exists, we humans are benefitted, too because then these Divine Entities could help us much better instead of rather being busy solving their own peaceless state of affairs.
2. If the peace for the Universe exists, we humans stand to gain because then it would mean no need to worry about things like the meteors or the asteroids hitting our Earth and harming us or the Sun losing its heat, thereby causing loss of the precious insolation on the Earth and so on.
3. If the peace for the Earth exists, we would be spared of the calamities like the earthquake, etc.
4. If the peace for the Water exists, we would without doubt remain peaceful because this would mean surety of the drinking-water for everyone, the rainwater for our crops and consequently no peaceless problems like the Famine caused by a shortage of the food-grains, etc. and we would further be spared of the terrible problems like the furious floods.
5. If the peace for the Herbal Medicines exists, the herbal medicines would not die out and always would remain effective in wiping out the diseases from our life.
6. If the peace for the Plants exists, the plants always would live a normal life. The Plants would give us plenty of useful products and the greenery to enrich our life.
7. If the peace for the Gods/Goddesses/Deities exists, the world shall be ridden of the harmful bad astral entities and the negative energy around because then the Gods/Goddesses/Deiies would be able to focus their whole energy in fighting out these aforesaid evil forces.
8. If the peace for the Brhma [Absolute] exists, it would still be more beneficial for the whole world.
9. If the peace for Everyone in this world exists, there would be no humans-induced conflicts, skirmishes, battles, wars, killings, lootings or non-human calamities like earthquake, etc.
10. If the peace for the concept of ‘the Peace’ exists, this concept of the Peace always shall remain the prime in our life and the world. This would ensure that each and every particle or bit of the energy emitted the peace only in the world.
[C].THE CONCLUSION:
Dear Readers, you are requested earnestly to display the above-mentioned Peace-Verse in your Drawing Room, Dining Hall, Kitchen, Study Room, Bed Room, Halls, Classrooms, Conference-rooms, Office and public places prominently. Yours this big noble gesture may help usher in the positive vibrations for the Peace on this beautiful planet earth and in rest of the world around…!‘THE PEACE-FOR-ALL-PRAYER’ – THE YAJURVAEDA VERSE

Is the luminous 'DIVINE MOTHER' the supreme entity in this universe?
The "Daevee Puraanna" the ancient Indian spiritual text, says that the DIVINE MOTHER JAGADAMBAA is the source of the whole creation, including Goddessess/Gods like Sheva-Shevaa/Gauree, Veshnnu-Lakshmee, Brhmaa- Saavetree. Raadhaa-Krshnna.
After having written all the 18 Puraannas, Vaeda Vyaasa was still doubtful. He thought that how could a mortal like him understand the DAEVEE TATTVA when Mahaa Eeshawara [Mahaeshawara] Sheva himself could not understand it properly?
So, Vaeda Vyaasa went to the Himalayas and meditated there for 1000 years upon which a divine broadcast called ‘the AAKAASHAWAANNEE’ was heard by him asking him to visit the Brhmaloka [the abode of the Lord Brhmaa].
He went to the Brhmaloka, where the Indian spiritual texts called the 4 Vaedas appeared in the form of four different human beings and told him that the JYOTEESWARUUPAA [luminous] BHAGAWATEE JAGADAMBAA herself only is the PARAMA/PARAMAA TATTVA [ PARABRHMA].
The 4 Vaedas propitiated [did STUTE] the DIVINE MOTHER
JAGADAMBAA, whereupon pleased , she appeared . Still, Vaeda Vyaasa seemed to be confused. To remove his confusion, she showed him by transforming herself into different Goddesses/Gods that it is only she [the DIVINE MOTHER JAGADAMBAA herself] who is getting manifested in the form of the above mentioned Goddesses/Gods.
The doubts of Vaeda Vyaasa were cleared.
Then, the DIVINE MOTHER JAGADAMBAA showed him the DAEVEE PURAANNA which was inscribed in divine letters on the petals of the 1000-petals Lotus at her feet. He saw this and subsequently wrote this DAEVEE PURAANNA.
The DAEVEE PURAANNA shows clearly that it was only KAALEE, a manifestation of the DIVINE MOTHER herself who had been born as the Lord Krshnna on this Earth.
This epic text describes also in detail the LOKA [abode] of the MAHAADURGAA [the entity which is higher than the DURGAA].It describes other LOKAs [abodes], too like the LOKAs of the 10 MAHAAVEDHYAA.
THE NOTE:
Spiritually speaking, the BRHMALOKA as described above can be taken to be as corresponding to the top of the human head [Crown Lotus -1000 Petals Lotus]. Thus, it would mean that the BRHMALOKA [1000-petas Lotus] is under the feet of the DIVINE MOTHER. The spiritual-seeker must advance spiritually to the Crown Chakra to be able to have a glimpse of the luminous DIVINE MOTHER [in other words, to be able to further merge into the supreme consciousness/ocean of the white light]!
Thus, the luminous DIVINE MOTHER is the supreme entity in this universe as per the DAEVEE PURAANNA.Is the luminous 'DIVINE MOTHER' the supreme entity in this universe?

President Obama is expected to sign into law sweeping legislation aimed at addressing the truly troubling statistics on violent crime throughout Indian country. It provides access to federal databases for Tribal Police conducting investigations into violent crime. It mandates standards and institutes training for Tribal Police and Indian Health Centers in how to properly address cases of sexual assault, and for the first time forces the federal government to disclose cases it doesn't pursue. In receiving the legislation, President Obama made a marked admonission of the status of violent crime in Indian communities which stands at rates ten times higher than the national average and talked of the Federal responsibility for it. One objection to the law is that much of the new costs of law enforcement will be Bourne out by tribal governments. However support for this legislation came from both democrats and republicans in large part and from advocacy groups such as Amnesty International, Fort Hall Business Council, Friends Committee on National Legislation, National American Indian Court Judges Association and the National Congress of American Indians.

Eagle Rock (Song for the People)
By Drew Nelson
Sun breaks over the Yellow Dog
call the thunder down
feel the wind rush against my face
sound of the children
breaks the stillness of the morning
red tail rises not a mile from this place
all through the night
they kept the fire burning
all through the night they sang
call the directions, put tobacco down
prayers and smoke on the wind
Chorus:
Here at Eagle Rock we will take our stand
Here at Eagle Rock we will pray
for the healing of our people
and the healing of our land
there’s a fire burning in our hearts
Ishkoday (Anishinaabe for sacred fire)
Ishkoday
Ishkoday
For a thousand years
this place has been sacred
it will be for a thousand more
all those who lover her
cry all my relations
see the old ones sing
see the young ones grow
Chorus repeats:
There is a law higher than any government
places more important than a mine
a love that is greater than any corporation
ask the Eagle, ask the Bear, Ask the Pines.
Three brave American Indian women from Baraga, MI started the encampment at sacred Eagle Rock at sunset on April 23, 2010.
They are KBIC members Charlotte Loonsfoot, 37, and Chalsea Smith, 20, and Georgenia Earring of the Cheyenne River Lakota Sioux tribe in South Dakota.
The camp was triggered by mine officials ordering the trespassing arrest three days earlier (April 20) of non-native environmentalist Cynthia Pryor of the Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve
Over the next month campers would build lean-tos, start several campfires including the sacred Grandfather Fire, pitch dozens of tents, pray, plant the Eagle Rock Memorial Garden, host the KBIC Tribal Council meeting (May 10), hear from many healers and elders including popular Native American singer “Bobby Bullet” St. Germaine (Lac Du Flambeau Tribe) and Lee Sprague (Little River Band of Ottawa Indians), and create a kitchen to store tons of food and other supplies donated by supporters.
A massive police raid began about 9 a.m. on May 27 as dozens of heavily armed state and local law enforcement officers swopped down on the camp at the order of officials with Kennecott Eagle Minerals.
Two members of Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve arrived moments before the raid to warn four campers that police were on their way.
Arrested Keweenaw Bay Indian Community members Chris Chosa, 28, and Charlotte Loonsfoot, 37, both of Baraga, Mich.
The other two campers present for the raid were Kalvin Hartwig (Sault Ste. Marie Band of Chippewa), and Catherine Parker of Marquette – were ordered by police and mice security to leave with their vehicles.

The music of TERROR AT THE OPERA doesn't lend itself to modern classification, nor, indeed, to modernity. Toy pianos, diaphanous guitar and a dense, mesmeric accordion, conjured like a ghost of fin de siécle Vienna, betray the instant gratification that pop music proposes. However, the dark matter of absinthe dreams and other worlds made manifest in the music is pure atmosphere. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/world/380-terror-at-the-operaThe music of TERROR AT THE OPERA doesn't lend itself to modern classification,... more

Ancient Indian mathematician Bhaskaracharya, in his book Siddhanta Shriromani, had defined laws of gravity in 12th century, 500 years before Newton defined them for us. The speed of light was known to Indians since Vedic period, centuries before it was calculated by the Western world.
Manjramkar tells, “Very few of us know that speed of light was known to Indians in Vedic period. A shloka says that the speed of light is 2202 yojana per half nimish. Yojana is a unit of distance which equals to 9.06 miles and half a nimish (nimishardha) is one tenth of a second. The figure is very close to the modern measurement of speed of light.”

How did an Atari game from the early 1980s become a trending term? The number one trending term on Google this morning was "Custer's Revenge." It's an Adult Western from 1982 that re-imagines Custer's Last Stand. George Armstrong Custer returns from the grave with bandanna, ten-gallon hat, and erection to rape Native American women.
The term started trending because it was mentioned on Howard Stern's satellite radio show. His show gets 5-15 million listeners daily. Sal the Stockbroker, Stern's resident crank caller, brought it up just before 7:15 AM EST.
(The episode is summarized here)
Ostensibly listeners wanted to investigate the game themselves, so they did quick search queries, they probably found the informative Wikipedia entry, or youtube video.
The internet becomes instant supplementary reading in relation to traditional media. This also evidences how much reach traditional media still has over the internet.
Do you think that as online media develops "power of reach" will be disseminated taking away the authority of traditional media outlets, or will they continue to retain their influence? How did an Atari game from the early 1980s become a trending term? The number one... more

Happy Thanksgiving to all you turkey heads. With this holiday, you're going to have to spend a lot of time with your family, which means that you'll need some way to pass the time. A good way to do that is by telling jokes. I normally don't condone telling other people's jokes, but these have been proven to work on 5 year-old nieces and 85 year-old grandfathers.
So without further ado, Thanksgiving jokes and witty quotes!
Q: Who isn’t hungry on Thanksgiving?
A: The turkey, because he’s already stuffed!
Q: Can a turkey jump higher than the Empire State Building?
A: Yes - a building can't jump at all.
"May you live all the years of your life." – Jonathan Swift
Q: Which side of the turkey has the most feathers?
A: The outside
Q: If a man wants to eat a turkey on Thanksgiving, what does a turkey want?
A: It simply wants to run away.
Q: Why can’t you take a turkey to church?
A: Because they use such FOWL language

"Hundreds of geometric monuments unearthed deep in the Amazon may have been left behind by a previously unknown society, say scientists.
Archaeologists have found more than 200 earthworks shaped as perfect circles and squares, many connected by straight roads. They have dated one site to 1283AD but say others could be from as early as 200AD.
The earthen foundations were found in a region more than 150miles across, covering northern Bolivia and Brazil's Amazonas state.
The first ones were uncovered in 1999, after large areas of pristine forest was cleared for cattle grazing.
Sculpted from the clay rich soils of Amazonia, the earthworks are made up of 30ft wide and 10ft deep ditches alongside 3ft high walls. The largest ring ditches founds so far are 1,000ft in diameter.
Excavations at some sites have also revealed evidence of permanent habitation, including domestic ceramics, charcoal and grinding stone fragments.
The findings cast serious doubt on previous studies that stated the area could only support small, impermanent villages.
Instead it is likely the Amazon teemed with complex societies. These were probably wiped out by diseases brought to South America by colonists 500 years ago.

http://www.russellmeansfreedom.com/2009/the-united-states-continues-to-steal-land-from-indians/
During the course of this long-running, class-action litigation, it has been documented that the United States owes Indian people more than $137 billion for mismanagement of trust accounts. That was established just by the documents that were presented.
The original federal judge on this case was Royce Lamberth, who held at least three secretaries of the Interior in contempt for not producing thousands of additional documents. Also, during the course of this case, hundreds of relevant documents were found in the trash by Interior Department employees, who reported this to the court and to Interior Department officials.
So basically, now, the U.S. government is saying that it has identified the thief of Indian royalties and resources as itself. It has allowed the thief to determine the value of the settlement and mostly has allowed the thief to keep what has been stolen.
Only in America if you steal something and hold onto it long enough does it becomes yours.http://www.russellmeansfreedom.com/2009/the-united-states-continues-to-steal-land-from-... more

We all know that the human body requires protein for sustenance and growth. Animal protein such as meat, dairy, fish and eggs contains all the necessary amino acids to constitute a complete protein. Plant groups contain different essential amino acids and need to be combined with other food groups to be rendered a complete protein.
The most popular such combination the world over for a complete protein is legumes and grains. Lentils and rice is the solution and is perhaps the most widely consumed meal combination the world over. In India – it’s called Daal Chawal: Daal being the Hindi term for lentils and chawal being the term for rice. For our vegans, a helping of chawal and a spoonful of delicioius daal is all you need to get the strength and nourishment you need.
The easiest to prepare and most commonly found daal preparation we know is Daal Tadka. This dish is made exclusively with split lentils such as Masoor daal (split red lentils), Yellow daal or Moong daal (split moong beans), Chana daal (split chick peas) or Toor daal (split pigeon peas – the most popular in India). Split lentils, unlike its whole counterparts, cook down quickly and easily and reduce to a homogenous pulp. Its texture varies from that of a thick porridge to a runny soup, depending on the likes and dislikes of the cook.
Tadka is the Hindi word for tempering. The rich flavor is achieved by tempering oil (or ghee if you choose the non vegan route) with spices and flavoring. Adding the aromatics to hot oil causes the volatile oils in them to explode thus imparting its flavor to the dish. The tadka when introduced to boiled lentils adds the wealth of flavor and taste that is sought after.
The following recipe for Daal Tadka calls for Yellow daal (split moong daal) and is easily available at your local Indian store. The step-by-step instructional video will guide you through the process of making Daal Tadka:
Daal:
1 cup yellow split lentils
½ tsp ginger paste
salt to taste
Tadka:
2 tbsp Ghee or oil
½ tsp brown mustard seeds
½ tsp cumin seeds
3 – 4 flakes garlic pounded and roughly chopped
3 – 4 dried red chilies
5 -6 curry leaves
¼ tsp turmeric powder
a pinch of asafetida (hing)
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1 lime (juiced – optional)
¼ cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)
Wash the lentils thoroughly and strain. In a pot, combine with 4 cups of cold water and bring to a boil. A film of foam will start to form on the surface after 5 - 7 minutes of boiling. It's perfectly normal and should be skimmed off and discarded. Season the boiling daal with salt and add a half tsp of ginger paste. Simmer till lentils are cooked and take on the appearance of a pulp like porridge.
In a separate sauté pan on medium heat, add the ghee or the oil. When the ghee/oil is hot and shimmers on the surface, add in the mustard and cumin seeds. The seeds will start crackling as the seeds start to perfume the oil.
Add the chilies, the garlic and curry leaves and sauté for a minute. Add the turmeric powder and the pinch of asafetida and stir quickly for approximately 30 seconds.
Add the tomatoes and cook for a few minutes till the tomatoes break down into a pulp like mass. Your tadka (tempering) is now ready.
Add the tadka to the pot of simmering lentils. Stir and cover for a few minutes to allow the flavors and aromas of the tempering permeate the lentils. If you like citrus flavors in your daal, you may squeeze in the juice of half a lime as per your taste. This is purely optional but it does give the daal a very fresh and tangy flavor.
Serve over Basmati rice, garnished with a sprinkling of chopped cilantro leaves.
Happy eating!!!We all know that the human body requires protein for sustenance and growth. Animal... more

Anyone remotely familiar with Indian food has probably heard of Garam Masala. Garam Masala is the most popular spice blend in India and is synonymous with Indian Moghlai cooking.aram in Hindi means hot and Masala is of course, a spice blend.
Garam Masala traces its roots back to Persia where ‘Garm’ is the Persian word for hot and ‘Masaleh’ is the word for ingredients. Garam Masala made it over to India with invasion of the Islamic Kings. This spice blend adds tremendous flavor and heat to a dish. The heat generated from this masala is unlike the burn you get from chilies. It feels more like warmth being introduced to your body – perfect for now as it starts getting colder.
Garam Masala is used whole as well as in its powdered form. When used whole (khada) the spices are added at the start of the dish preparation. It is crackled in hot oil thereby adding its flavor to it. The food cooked in this medium thus better absorbs the flavors as it simmers. The best example of this is Rice Pilaf, made fragrant and aromatic with the addition of the whole spices. When used as a powder, it is usually sprinkled over the dish right at the end of the preparation just before taking off the flame for service. Garam Masala powder serves the purpose of adding flavor and aroma.
As the flavors are so volatile, the store-bought Garam Masala blends over a short period of time lose their flavor and aroma. A true food aficionado makes his or her own Garam Masala blend and grinds it fresh to ensure maximum flavor. By toasting the spices mildly before grinding, one can guarantee better flavor and aroma. It is well worth the extra effort.
The components of the ‘Classic’ Garam Masala are cinnamon, cardamom (both green and black), cloves, bay leaves and black peppercorns. In terms of proportions, every cook in India has his or her own recipe. Chefs also bolster their Garam Masala blends with the addition of other basic spices such as cumin, coriander seeds, Nutmeg and Mace. Through trial and error, you will arrive at your own Garam Masala blend that works best for you.
The following recipe has a high proportion of peppercorns and is bolstered with cumin. This blend is perfect when making red meat curries.
2 tablespoons cumin seeds
2 tablespoons black peppercorns
1 large stick cinnamon
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 teaspoon cloves
3 - 4 medium dried bay leaves
Toast the ingredients slightly in a skillet till the spices turn a light brown.
Allow to cool and grind to a fine powder in a spice grinder. It is best to grind your spices whenever you need to use it to get the best flavor. Store left over spices in an air tight jar in a cool dark place.
Happy Eating!Anyone remotely familiar with Indian food has probably heard of Garam Masala. Garam... more
