Playboy Magazine’s “Playmate of the Year 2008″ goes to 22-year-old Jayde Nicole of Scarborough, Ontario.

Playboy announced today the launch of an online search on YouTube for the best video submissions from potential Playboy models:
To commemorate Playboy’s 55th birthday, Playmate editor Holly Madison is making it easy for you to try out for 55th Anniversary Playmate. Just send her your Playmate audition video through YouTube.
Through our YouTube page, simply upload a two-minute video of yourself, showing off your face, your body and your personality (no nudity, please). Submissions are eligible from U.S. residents, 18 or older, only.

In Austin, Texas during the SXSW Festival, the Playboy party is pretty much everything you'd expect. Almost all the drinks involve Jack Daniel's. Everything you sit on is glittery enough for a Mariah Carey video. Bunnies and the men who guard them stroll amongst the common folk (although in this alternate universe the "common folk" look like they were flown in from Los Angeles). Students in Florida and their high school have clashed over a small, bowtie-wearing rabbit. The school kids can no longer wear any items of clothing that depict the Playboy Bunny after school official ruled the logo fell foul of their school rule banning clothing with "offensive, suggestive, or indecent" messages or images.
One student who was given detention defended the iconic branding, saying: "The bunny is just a logo. There's nothing objectionable about that. I was dressed tastefully."

In her new book, "Having a Baby . . . When the Old-Fashioned Way Isn't Working," out this week from Perigee, Playboy pin-up, Cindy Margolis, once feted as the world's most downloaded woman writes that she and Guy Starkman "had two weeks of the most amazing, nonstop sex you could imagine . . . in the hotel room, on the balcony, in the hallway. We had sex on the beach, sex in the ocean, on a beach chair, in our cabana, in the woods, around the coral reef, while swimming with the dolphins, on a swing, in a tree, behind the swim-up bar . . . romantic sex, hot sex, steamy sex, drunk-on-our-love sex, passionate sex, not-so-passionate sex . . . sex in the bathtub, sex in the pool, and even under the snack bar!"
But it didn't work. "I must be going nuts," she recalled thinking. "I thought I was being punished for my past mistakes: I should never have cheated on my first love with that cute actor who turned out to be a jerk!"
Next, she turned to superstition. "I set up a baby shrine next to my bed . . . I wrote letters to my unborn baby. I lit fertility candles, saw a psychic and then a healer, and even had my stomach blessed by a priest, a rabbi and a minister. When all that didn't work, I was convinced it was because God saw through me," Margolis writes.
It got worse. Whenever Margolis thought she was ovulating, she demanded her husband drop everything and rush home to bed her. She relates: "I would call Guy off the basketball court, out of a meeting, away from a family function, and even home early from a business trip . . . I even told him once that if he didn't get home within 10 minutes and have sex with me, I would find someone else who would."
After years of trying, Margolis consulted specialists who recommended in vitro fertilization and surrogacy. In 2002 she gave birth to a son, Nicholas Isaac. Three years later she had twin girls, Sabrina and Sierra, through a surrogate. "Please, never give up the faith," she urges parents.

Hugh Hefner, founder of the Playboy media empire, will donate $2 million for an exhibition space in the school's new headquarters complex, the USC School of Cinematic Arts announced Thursday.
Hefner said in a statement released by USC that he wanted to do all he could to contribute to the education of future professional storytellers.
"I'm proud to support the USC School of Cinematic Arts, which offers dialogue and personal interaction between scholars, educators, industry veterans and students," he said in the statement. Playboy has fallen in love with programming format of Current, the 24/7 network co-owned by Gore, which fills its schedule with shortform items covering trends (technology, fashion, etc.) and issues (the environment, relationships), all of it aimed at young-adult viewers.
The love affair reached a climax this month: Playboy TV, stagnant with a lineup of regularly scheduled half-hour and 60-minute series night after night, has scrapped its entire primetime grid, switching to short films and tapes ranging in length from a minute to 12 minutesApparently...
