An LDS ward in Sandy, Utah, came out with a policy for its Halloween party that there would be no "cross-dressing" costumes allowed for the children.
That means that not only would boys not be allowed to dress as Dr. Frankenfurter, girls couldn't even dress as Harry Potter! And girls couldn't dress up as cowboys -- they'd have to be wearing a skirt, I guess.
And what about kids dressing up as ghosts? How can you tell if they are a boy ghost or a girl ghost -- by peeking under their sheets.
I don't mean to pick on the LDS, but this is pretty darned silly, and pretty obviously some sort of idiotic anti-gay statement.
Look at those girls above! Don't they look absolutely immoral!

She claims that Americans don't care if their gay brother or sister can't have families or serve in the military. She says America isn't concerned. I think she is wrong. Americans do care. She is asked specific questions and doesn't have answers. She clearly doesn't know why she believes what she believes.
Bachmann stutters through this interview. What about gay employees, cousins, sisters, brothers, soldiers, court personnel, and others who are gay? Her views are clear because she surrounds herself with people who agree with her. That is not a good idea especially if you are wrong and your peers are afraid to have a different opinion than yours. She claims that Americans don't care if their gay brother or sister can't... more

Why place a non-severability clause in something as basic and ordinary as marriage? You don't see a non-severability clause in the world of straight marriage do you? That means that if any part of this law is deemed to be unlawful or is challenged in a court and the court rules in favor of the challenge, then ALL OF THIS MARRIAGE ACT IS VOID.Why place a non-severability clause in something as basic and ordinary as marriage?... more

1. George Rekers
George Rekers belongs at the top of this list. He's not the most recent, but dear Lord did he get caught the most red-handed. Not only this, but he had the absolute worst excuse.
Here's the story:
George Rekers, a man who helped start one of the most powerful anti-gay lobbying groups in the US during the 80s and has written published papers such as "Growing Up Straight: What Families Should Know About Homosexuality", had a recent surgery so during a lecture tour and was unable to lift his own luggage, so he hired some help -- which is perfectly reasonable.
Where did he go to get this help? Rentboy-com, baby.
He there found a young, ripped, hairless, vampire-from-a-young-adult-book-looking boy named Lucien (pictured to the left) who he brought on his trip to "lift his luggage"(which is now an awesome euphemism for hiring a male prostitute and/or having sex with a male).
Rekers denies having a sexual relationship with the boy or even knowing that he was a gay male or prostitute. There is no way to stumble upon a profile on rentboy-com, as they are all private. So obviously, Rekers had an account there. He found Lucien, whose profile bragged about his "smooth, sweet, tight ass" and "perfectly built 8 inch cock (uncut.)" His profile also said that he'd be "up for anything" as long as the person paid... which Rekers was MORE than happy to do.
UPDATE: a few months later, Lucien admitted to having sex with George Rekers, understandably, as it would take anyone quite a while to admit that; even to themselves.
2. Pastor Eddie Long
Georgia Pastor Eddie Long, a Baptist and famed televangelist in his area. In 2004, he led a march to Dr. Martin Luther King's grave in the name of defining marriage as between a man and a woman. He has also been quoted as saying that his church can "deliver" people from homosexuality.
He is currently being sued by four young men (ages 21, 20, 23 and 22) for using his fame and influence to coerce them into sexual relationships. The relationships lasted months and occurred during the boys' late teens. The age of consent in Georgia is 16, so it was legal, but it was still wrong of him to use his power to get the boys to do sexual favors for him. Here are some examples of what he did...
The pastor of New Birth Missionary (*snicker*) Baptist Church, Eddie Long used his influence to take the boys places such as Kenya, paid for their hotel rooms and gave them gifts such as cars, cash and jewelry in exchange for mutual masturbation, oral sex and sensual massaging.
Click on the image to the left to see a gallery of the kind of text messages the (admittedly in-shape) Pastor sent his accusors.
3. Troy King
This amazing entry, starring Alabama Attorney General Troy King, plays itself out in beautiful symmetry.
Known for his vocal opposition to gay rights and for his attempt to outlaw sex toys, King was caught by his wife while having sex with a local homecoming King (see what we did there?) from--wait for it--Troy University.
Someone get the mascot over here and have it do a little dance.
4. Richard Curtis
This Washington State Representative has an anti-gay rights voting record--he voted against domestic partnerships for gays and opposed a bill prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Oh really now? Well, it wasn't before long that Mr. Mega-Compensation resigned from the House due to reports of his sexual encounter with a male escort being made, you know, "public" and all.
The reputed male prostitute, Cody Castagna, with whom he was cavorting, told police that Curtis offered him $1,000 to have sex with him and that Curtis purchased two gay pornographic films from the hotel for them to watch in his room.
Even more, this all went down with Curtis wearing a red negligee and Castagna has pictures to prove it. Pictures he only took as revenge when it was discovered that Curtis only had $200 in his wallet.
That's something to smile about. For us.
5. Ted Haggard
Known as Pastor Ted to his congregation at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ted Haggard was outed by prostitute, and professional masseur, Mike Jones in November 2006 for paying him to engage in sex with him for three years.
He was also purchasing, then using, crystal methamphetamine ("Crystal Meth", for all the kids out there) with his pay-for-play partner.
Haggard had supported Colorado Amendment 43, which bans same-sex marriage in the state.
In his own words, he's not a homosexual, he's just a "heterosexual with issues."
6. Glenn Murphy Jr.
Glenn Murphy Jr., former head of the Young Republicans and one of the (former) leading Republicans of Indiana, always advocated "straight" family values and straight forward sexual orientation views.
He was caught (finally, the second time he did it) performing fellatio on another Young Republican while that man slept, without that man's consent.
He was later jailed in 2008 and as of March of 2010, has been forced to register as a sex offender.
7. David Dreier
David Dreier is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives who has voted against gay marriage rights, gay legal rights and gay adoption rights and was part of an organization called "Californians for Bush" in 2004.
He's been accused of having sex with members of his staff and even paying his alleged boyfriend a high salary (like any politically-corrupt, good boyfriend should.)
Hypocritical as always, he has since denied any mentions of his homosexuality altogether.
When he almost became the majority leader of the House in 2005, he was denied the position by the most right-wing republicans because they said his views were "too moderate."
When asked if David Dreier was passed over for the job due to his "moderate" views, openly-gay Democratic Congressman Barney Frank told the press "Yes, in the sense that I marched in the moderate pride parade last summer and went to a moderate bar.”
8. Bruce Barclay
Bruce Barclay, the Republican commissioner of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, is practically the gay porn star of politics. Due to an allegation of rape by 20-year-old male Marshall McCurdy, police obtained a warrant to search Barclay's home on March 31st.
They didn't find evidence of rape.
Instead, they found videotapes of hundreds of sexual encounters with men that Barclay filmed on high-tech surveillance cameras. It was apparent that Barclay and McCurdy had consensual sex.
It was also apparent that his personal Republican stance was not as right-wing as he'd led people to believe.

(CNN) -- An estranged son of anti-gay Kansas pastor Fred Phelps said Wednesday that the spiritual leader of Westboro Baptist Church hit his wife and beat his children with a mattock handle until they bled.
"I think what he does out there is evil," said Nathan "Nate" Phelps, during an appearance on HLN's "Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell."
Nate Phelps is the seventh of the Westboro Baptist minister's 12 children. The younger Phelps severed ties with his family on his 18th birthday and said he hasn't had contact with his father in three decades. Nate Phelps is currently writing a book about his family.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled earlier this month that Westboro's practice of picketing the funerals of fallen soldiers with offensive placards is constitutionally protected free speech. The picketing, which includes chants and placards stating "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God for Dead Soldiers," have enraged supporters of the U.S. military and the families and friends of slain soldiers.
Nate Phelps called his pastor father "one of the best reasons that America has been forced to get off the fence and address this issue (of gay rights)."
"But at the same time you can't ignore the fact that he's done a lot of damage," Phelps said. "He's hurt a lot of families, not only in the gay community, but the families of these soldiers."
The younger Phelps said his father also hurt his own family.
"He used his fists. He used his knees and he used ... the handle of a mattock," said Phelps, referring to a pick-like digging tool. "He used that in such a way that it split the skin on the back of the kid's legs so they bled."
"If they want to call that discipline, that's fine. But I call it abuse," Phelps said.
The son said Fred Phelps also hit his mother, but not with the handle of the mattock.
Phelps has also said his father abused prescription drugs when he was in law school. He didn't back down from the claim during the HLN interview.
Velez-Mitchell read a statement from Nate Phelps' sister, Shirley Phelps-Roper, denying the claim.
"Yikes. Hell no. His (Nate Phelps') imagination goes on and on," Roper wrote "This lie should not have come out of his mouth when he decided to reject the word of God. Nothing he can say will change the fact that God hates (homosexuals) and their enablers and therefore God hates America and America is doomed."
Nate Phelps responded that his sister "just cynically lies about what happened."
Likewise, Phelps said his father manipulates facts and circumstances to reach false conclusions.
"My father can make any connection to anything that anyone has done or hasn't done in their life and point to that to say that that's evidence they're damned and going to hell," Phelps said. "He's convinced that homosexuality is the ultimate sin against God.
"So since the United States is taking steps to move in the direction of equality for gays in America, he says that has doomed America," Phelps said. "So anyone who is connected to America, so anyone who is supporting America in any sense is subject to the wrath of God."
When asked what he would say to his father if he could, Nate Phelps replied, "I've never had a relationship with my father. I wouldn't know what to say to him."
There was no immediate public response from Fred Phelps to his son's televised remarks.

Christian fundamentalist Rev. Grant Storms, 53, protester of the largest gay event in New Orleans, the Southern Decadence festival, was arrested for obscenity at Lafreniere Park, New Orleans.
Mr Storm said he was urinating in a bottle on his lunch break, but two witnesses say they saw him masturbating. His bail was set at $5,000 but he was released due to overcrowding at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center jail.
Southern Decadence organiser, Chuck Robinson, told the Times-Picayune: “He’s done everything through the years to disturb [the festival] and try to make it into something nasty.
“If the Rev. Storms is caught doing that in our city, it is ludicrous and heinous that he would have the nerve to complain about any kind of sexuality.”
According to the Advocate, “Storms has orchestrated counter-events for Southern Decadence in the past, and in 2004, filed a lawsuit against gay rights group Action Wisconsin for defamation, but the suit was thrown out of court. He has also been an advocate for cleaning up the French Quarter, and has gone as far as filming sexual acts that took place during Southern Decadence, and screening his videos to lawmakers as a way to coerce them to stop allowing the annual festival from taking place.”

Every year, the Rev. Grant Storms takes his bullhorn and his anti-gay rhetoric to the Southern Decadence festival in New Orleans. This year, he might not make it -- he was just arrested for masturbating near a children's playground in Metairie.
Storms, 53, was spotted by two different witnesses with his pants unzipped and his eyes trained on kids playing on Friday afternoon.
The women asked a park employee to call the sheriff.
NOLA.com reports that Storms was released without paying bond because of jail overcrowding.

Storms is well-known to many in New Orleans' gay community, since he makes a scene every Labor Day weekend at the gay celebration known as Southern Decadence.
"He's done everything through the years to disturb that and try to make it into something nasty that it's not," Southern Decadence organizer Chuck Robinson told NOLA. "If the Rev. It’s official: A Minnesota disclosure law, enacted in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, was upheld by a federal judge on Monday.
U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank for the District of Minnesota denied a temporary injunction in a lawsuit brought by supporters of Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, including an anti-abortion group and an anti-tax organization. They sued to overturn the law on free speech grounds and had asked Frank to suspend the disclosure requirements immediately.
Frank answered with a firm no.
“Invalidating the election laws at issue here would likely result in corporations making independent expenditures without any reporting or disclosure on the eve of the upcoming general election on November 2, 2010,” his ruling said. “This result so close to the election would clearly harm the state, Minnesota voters, and the general public interest.”
The lawsuit, brought by Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life and Taxpayers League of Minnesota, argued that the disclosure law — which made possible the discovery of political donations made within the state by Target and other companies — was so burdensome that it infringed upon the groups’ first amendment rights. It’s an argument akin to what the National Organization for Marriage has been arguing in its lawsuits against the state of Maine and California — and the ruling today represents another blow to the logic of NOM’s case.
Even in its Citizens United decision, the Supreme Court upheld federal disclosure requirements as constitutional by a vote of 8-1. Some state laws are more rigorous (and therefore perhaps more burdensome), but none seem likely to be overturned wholesale on the grounds that they stifle free speech. It’s official: A Minnesota disclosure law, enacted in the wake of the Supreme... more

Cover your ears, because boy do we have a spoiler for you! Tom Emmer, the Republican who wants to be Minnesota's next governor, and who Target is throwing its weight behind, doesn't just want to keep marriage out of the hands of gays. Emmer also wants to keep bully protection from them too.
The Safe Schools for All bill, vetoed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty last year and opposed by Emmer as a state rep, would also get the ax under an Emmer administration, the candidate told an audience(http://minnesotaindependent.com/64600/advocates-say-anti-bullying-laws-needed-emmer-says-no) at the Minnesota State Fair debate. But what about the three bullying-related student suicides in the Anoka-Hennepin School District alone? And all those allegations of even teachers participating in the ridicule of fey kids?(http://www.queerty.com/there-are-repercussions-when-teachers-make-fun-of-a-high-school-students-sexuality-20090813/)
While the other gubernatorial candidates, including Mark Dayton, said they'd sign it, Emmer insisted, "I would have to see what it looks like. I’ll tell you right now, bullying is a serious issue. You’re talking to the parent of seven kids — Jacquie and I have seven kids — we’re very, we’re very aware of what happens when a child is faced with an uncomfortable situation at school or out in a public place. But tell you what, it’s up to the parents, Jacquie and I, to educate our children, how they handle that situation. We’re the ones who have to be the front line of defense for our children. I don’t want the government doing that for us."

A Florida pastor may have called off his plan to burn Qurans on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. But David Grisham, the leader of a militant evangelical group in Amarillo, tells the local CBS affiliate(http://www.newschannel10.com/global/story.asp?s=13135412) that he plans to publicly burn the Muslim holy book on Saturday. Grisham is the leader of Repent Amarillo, which gained attention in January when it launched a boycott of Houston after the city elected on openly gay mayor, Annise Parker:
> According to Grisham, he has questioned why he should go through with his plan,
> but in the end, he feels it is right.
> “Terrorism was seeded by the ideas in the Quran. It’s the Quran that has put our troops
> in danger. Burning one isn’t going to put our troops in danger. It’s the ideas contained
> in that book that put them in danger,” said Grisham.
Grisham is a security guard at a NUCLEAR-BOMB facility called Pantex, according to media reports. Repent Amarillo goes by the moniker “Army of God” and refers to itself as the “special forces of spiritual warfare.” The group has also gained attention for a campaign to shut down a local swingers club, as well as a “warfare map” posted on its website identifying its enemies in Amarillo.A Florida pastor may have called off his plan to burn Qurans on the anniversary of the... more
