CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - The SPCA and area cat lovers are horrified at a Cheektowaga man's behavior. Police say he was planning to make a meal of his pet cat.

Unfortunately, nothing surprises the SPCA anymore when it comes to what people are capable of doing to their pets in abusive situations. And after covering this case, it never gets easy.

4-year More..-old Navarro is a star patient. His eyes no longer water. He's playful again. There are no visible signs of the alleged abuse he suffered this past weekend.

Gina Browning, Director of Public Relations for the SPCA, said, "He claimed that he was going to cook the cat. He claimed he was marinating the cat, according to Buffalo Police."

Browning says Navarro was brought in early Sunday night, shortly after his 51-year-old owner, Gary Korkuc, was arrested on one count of cruelty to animals. Ferry-Fillmore District officers pulled him over for allegedly passing a stop sign on Broadway. What they discovered in the trunk would leave any animal lover in shock.

"He was covered in oil, salt, different kinds of pepper, hot peppers. His eyes were watering. Eyes of staff were watering. Who knows what this cat was facing. Had the Buffalo police not had the wherewithal to not only stop the man, but do something about hearing the cat in the car," shuddered Browning.

Korkuc adopted the cat in May from the SPCA. News 4 had hoped to hear his side and stopped by his Cheektowaga apartment. He wasn't home. The allegations came as a shock to Willie Jones, a neighbor. Korkuc's friend, David White Eagle, was also stunned. He claims he saw the cat in Korkuc's backseat over the weekend, and was told he was taking him to the SPCA.

White said, "He said because it made a mess in the apartment. He said, "I can't take this anymore." I said, "Why?" He said, "I can't take care of cats.""

Workers gave Navarro a few baths to clean off the spices, which is stressful enough. To their surprise, he calmed down quickly. The word "danger" is now stamped in red on Korkuc's SPCA file, with orders that he never be allowed to adopt a pet again. As for Navarro? He has a new family, and his new name is "Oliver."

Cat lovers were quick to respond in this case with adoption inquiries. Now, Oliver is home with his new family.

Even if you ask the nice people behind the bar to give you a small portion of chips, they'll still load you up with a Sunday supplement's worth of the oily blighters. Pizza Metro 64 Battersea Rise SW11 1EQ Pizza Metro has the bold claim that it serves the longest pizza in all of London town. It was, in fact, the first place in the city to whip up a 100cm of doughy goodness, from their wood burning oven and they've got one called the CicCioBoMba, which sounds pretty funny doesn't it? If you could eat one of these big bastards all on your own, then I'd imagine that you'd be a pretty hefty lummox yourself. Fox & Anchor 115 Charterhouse Square London Smithfield EC1M 6AA This cheery place in Clerkenwell actually won an award for its big portions. Yep - Olive Magazine's alternative award for them. So the proof is somewhere in the Yorkshire pudding there. It does exactly what you'd expect from an award winning foodie pub - meat. Meat with things - that's what you'll get here. Which may lead to cancer of the colon if you eat a lot of it.
