This week's Indie Music Show takes you to a Goth fashion show at Crash Mansion in New York City. While Goth may be considered to be an alternative lifestyle there are a lot of interesting designs on display.
Providing music for the event were three bands; Pillow Theory, One False Move and Swear On Your Life. All three bands rocked and it is worth watching the show just for the music even if you aren't particularly drawn to tattooed girls in latex.
Unfortunately technical difficulties prevented me from getting good footage of One False Move, so I apologize to them and will be sure to do a shoot with them in the near future to make up for it.
Here are the web links for those involved in the show:

"It sounds like something out of science fiction: zombie fire ants. But it's all too real.
Fire ants wander aimlessly away from the mound.
Eventually their heads fall off, and they die.
The strange part is that researchers at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M's AgriLife Extension Service say making "zombies" out of fire ants is a good thing.
"It's a tool — they're not going to completely wipe out the fire ant, but it's a way to control their population," said Scott Ludwig , an integrated pest management specialist with the AgriLife Extension Service in Overton , in East Texas .
The tool is the tiny phorid fly, native to a region of South America where the fire ants in Texas originated. Researchers have learned that there are as many as 23 phorid species along with pathogens that attack fire ants to keep their population and movements under control.
So far, four phorid species have been introduced in Texas .
The flies "dive-bomb" the fire ants and lay eggs. The maggot that hatches inside the ant eats away at the brain, and the ant starts exhibiting what some might say is zombie-like behavior.
"At some point, the ant gets up and starts wandering," said Rob Plowes, a research associate at UT.
The maggot eventually migrates into the ant's head, but Plowes said he "wouldn't use the word 'control' to describe what is happening. There is no brain left in the ant, and the ant just starts wandering aimlessly. This wandering stage goes on for about two weeks.""It sounds like something out of science fiction: zombie fire ants. I got a friend request from Stever this week and my first visual impression of her, based on the design of her myspace page, was a chick version of Marylin Manson. I'm not real big on the goth/emo/industrial creatures that roam the dark, misty fringes of the music world but I usually listen to what it put in front of me.
This video was the first thing from her that I watched/listened to and I got to sort of like Stever through it because the weirdly psychotic chick she portrays in it reminded me a lot of my ex wife. Too much maybe... It was sort of fun to see the corpse of the whole substance of 16 years of my life reanimated in a music video lol

As so many people have wrongly been calling so many things Goth these days.I thought I'd set the record straight on just what Goth is & how it even started in the first place!
Firstly I have to start off with the most common misconceptions! : Goth has NEVER been a mainstream genre! Goth artist NEVER make mainstream pop hits! Goth musicans have wrote popular songs, but the songs are usually only popular with certain groups of people! Thus Evenessence & Lancuna Coil are not any where close to Goth!!!
Goths actually don't wear black all the time! In fact many like to wear bright pink!
Goths don't like hanging in grave yards! Most goths actually are freaked out by grave yards, but do enjoy old buildings & often like the looks of old stone.
Goths are actually not vampires! (No Duh!)
Goths are actually very nice friendly caring people!
Okay now! Now that we debunked the common misconceptions, it's time to get a bit more serious & talk about what Goth is exactly!
Goth came out of a unique combination of punk, new wave,& glam! The term "Goth" was first used in London to describe the kind of sound that post punks started up! Many people thought the music was actually much like Old world gloom in a lot of ways! The singers in Goth bands do often tend to use a slow clam tone when singing, often with a backing of synthesizers played in a slow ,but harsh manner.Oddly enough most Goth songs actually love to pick on what people think Goths are! (Something that the Punks before them loved doing! ) But other songs are kind of slow dark love songs, & then there are even songs that are recreations of much older songs in languages that no longer are spoken! Such languages as classical Latin & even the old Germanic language known as Goth! Bands styles in both dress & music are very vastly different, but share a lot of basic concepts
