Last Night, Obama posted landslide wins in the Nebraska and Washington state caucuses, and in the Louisiana primary. He also won the Virgin Islands caucuses. Obama added many more delegates in his historic run for the presidential nomination.
While Senator Obama had been expected to win the contests on Saturday, the margin of victories were surprising, particularly in Nebraska and Washington, which offered the day’s biggest pool of delegates. In both states, he captured 68 percent of the vote in caucuses, compared with Clinton’s roughly 32 percent.
Obama celebrated his victories in a rousing speech to his supporters at the the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Richmond, Virginia. “We won in Louisiana, we won in Nebraska, we won in Washington state,” Mr. Obama proclaimed. “We won North, we won South, we won in between. And I believe that we can win in Virginia on Tuesday if you’re ready to stand for change.”
Photographs, a photo-gallery (with music audio) and videos (Obama's 2008 Jefferson-Jackson speech and the "Yes We Can" celebrity music video) are included.Last Night, Obama posted landslide wins in the Nebraska and Washington state caucuses,... more

The music video "Yes We Can" is a multi-cultural, viral moment that began riding the wave of Obama excitement right on time for Super Tuesday. The music video features a diverse group of celebrities, which includes will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Scarlett Johansson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, echoing key Obama phrases in English, Spanish and Hebrew.
It concludes with celebrity faces and voices chanting "Yes We Can" in an emotional crescendo. Designed to uplift, it indirectly calls up comparisons to Martin Luther King Jr.

The Yes We Can Song
by will.i.am
...
Martin Luther King didn't have experience to lead...
Kennedy didn't have experience to lead...
Susan B. Anthony...
Nelson Mandella...
Rosa Parks...
Gandhi...
Anne Frank...
and everyone else who has had a hand in molding the freedoms we have and take for granted today...
no one truly has experience to deal with the world today...
they just need "desire, strength, courage ability, and passion" to change...
and to stand for something even when people say it's not possible...
America would not be here "today" if we didn’t stand and fight for
change "yesterday"...
Everything we have as a "people" is because of the "people" who fought for
change...
and whoever is the President has to realize we have a lot of changing to do
I'm not trying to convince people to see things how i do...
I produced this song to share my new found inspiration and how I've been moved...
I hope this song will make you feel...
love...
and think...
and be inspired just like the speech inspired me...
that’s all...
Let's all come together like America is supposed to...
Like Japan did after Hiroshima...
that was less than 65 years ago...
and look at Japan now...
they did it together...
they did it...
"We can't?...
Are you serious..?..
WE CAN!!!
Yes we can...
A United "America"
Democrats, Republicans and Independents together...
Building a new America
We can do it...
"TOGETHER"

I was sent a link tonight (Feb. 2, 2008) from Esthero, who appeared in the original video and song. This project inspired me beyond words. I decided to figure out the guitar chords, print out the lyrics and record this version live, in one take on my laptop. I did this all within an hour or so of seeing the clip for the first time. This was a completely improvised musical performance; I did the best I could.
I am a singer-songwriter from New York; I hope you enjoy my version of this song and can take something away from the intention behind the project. I am going to post more about the song and the chords for anyone looking to learn and perform it.

I used G, Bm, Em and C.
Bridge is Am, C, G - Cm at the end of the bridge.
Lyrics:
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.
Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.
We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics...they will only grow louder and more dissonant ........... We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea --

Apparently, buying into the whole "everyone must love Daft Punk" trend, the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am remixed "I Got It From My Mama" with Daft's classic "Around The World," shot a video, and then asked permission which was then denied. Looks like even big-time hip-hop stars can get the slap in the face, despite how many times he warns that "this is a remix" in the opening to the vid. My take: this was rejected on grounds of being a lame-ass track.Apparently, buying into the whole "everyone must love Daft Punk" trend, the... more
