Megan Baumann, 28-year-old former social studies teacher at Clinton High School in Clinton, Tennessee, sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty today to several sex charges involving three male students.
Baumann was convicted on charges of statutory rape by an authority figure, sexual battery by an authority figure, and two counts of displaying sexually explicit material to minors. She agreed with District Attorney General Dave Clark's description of the facts of the case. He said she fondled one outside his clothes, she sent cell phone pics of her nude chest and pubic region to another, and she had sex with a third and sent him nude cell phone pictures.

Felecia Killings, 27-year-old teacher at Angelo Rodriguez High School, Vallejo, California, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a teenage male student.
Killings faces charges of having sex with a minor who is more than three years younger than her, and one count of oral copulation with a person under the age of 18.
Killings allegedly has sex with one of her students in her Vallejo home. According to police, the male student was 16-years-old at the time of the alleged incident. He is now 17. Police are investigating the possibility she had sex with other students as well.
While the students at the Angelo Rodriguez Highs School were shocked when their teacher was arrested, some were not surprised at all. Even they described her as "nice", one student told that "the school allowed her to dress pretty inappropriately. It was crazy; she always wore really low-cut stuff. It’s crazy that we couldn't do that stuff."

Like Michigan high school teacher Jim McDowell, Georgia drama teacher Dave Dixon was just trying to instill some tolerance among his students. So he screened a film about a man who was kidnapped and attacked for being gay, and after a brief suspension was just fired by the school board.

Officially Dixon, who has been teaching at Haralson County High School in Tallapoosa for four years, is in trouble over the curse words used in The Reckoning, a 2007 short film starring Dixon's friend Bruce Hart and described by IMDB thusly:

"An administrator of a (fictitious) Gay and Lesbian Center is abducted by two thugs with intent to harass and humiliate him. He is bound in a chair in a darkened warehouse. As they continue their taunting of the gay man their harassment escalates and quickly turns into a hate crime. This tale of gay bashing and murder turns the corner with a surprise macabre revenge twist as the film takes on the elements of a tgay themed Twilight Zone episode.' Contains strong language and violence." You can watch the whole thing here, where you'll definitely hear lines about "anal" and "You fuck your man in the ass, don't you?" So yes, it's got some pretty graphic language. It's also a film explicitly about a gay man violently attacked for being "proud," so there are certainly some teachable elements in here.
Dixon screened the film for some of his acting students in October — and was slapped with a suspension shortly thereafter pending disciplinary action.
Last night, the school board voted to fire him.
It's unclear how administrators found out about the film, but as is often the case, students tell their parents, and those parents take up the issue with administrators.
"During this time of so many kids hurting themselves over bullying, I thought it would be a good subject," says Dixon to Talk About Equality. "I was wrong. I teach my students about the human condition in my theater classes, and to play a part means to understand the character. Through that understanding, I hope my students will become more tolerant of all types of people, regardless of background, race, orientation or behavior."

Moreover, Dixon says he knows of three students he's personally counseled out of taking their own lives — though Principal Charles Needham (pictured, bottom) says his school has "no more incidents of bullying than any other high school" and doesn't know of any gay students. There is no gay-straight alliance at the school.
And now Dixon has lost his job for screening a film that includes language that students use all the time, and can be found in the movies other teachers have screened. Writes one parent, Amy Baker, in support of Dixon on a Facebook group:

"This is a totally unfair verdict. Mr. Dixon has taught 3 of my children. He goes above and beyond any teacher in this county and teaches real life experiences. Do these people really think our children will never leave Haralson County and need life skills. They need to know whats going on in the world. There will not …be another teacher that is as devoted as Mr. Dixon and his whole family have been to our children. People will regret this. I am having my kids drop drama if Mr. Dixon is not back where he belongs!"
Not that Dixon is a stranger to controversy: After moving to the school district from Michigan, he took issue with the school's custom of having new band camp members be "auctioned off" to upperclassmen and play their servants for the summer; the boosters weren't happy with his interference.

Kellie Ryan, 27-year-old female teacher from St. Louis, Missouri, has pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory sodomy and one count of statutory rape.
Ryan, of the 2000 block of Lakepoint Drive in Maryland Heights, was arrested in June 2010 for allegedly engaging in sex with a 15-year-old male student. According to police, Ryan engaged in a sexual relationship with the young boy from Nov. 1, 2009, to April 16 2010.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 17. Officials said the crimes did not occur during school hours or on the campus, at 1720 Redman Road.

A new online lesson service will allow students to rate the performance of their teachers. The videos that are watched the most and become the highest rated will be awarded lump-sums of cash. Every fortnight from today the highest rated teacher will be awarded £2,000 and a further £2,000 will be given to their school.The online lesson service will be able to stockpile lessons from any secondary school in the country – which can then be accessed by teachers and students anywhere.So far, seven schools have signed up for the scheme – including the private schools Eton and Wellington College. The other five are state schools.The teacher and the school can decide either to be anonymous, to minimise the potential for former pupils making derogatory comments on the website or be named.The website is being run by 02 Learning, part of the communications group 02 UK Ltd, which hopes that the project will – in addition to providing them with beneficial marketing – be an educational resource for pupils and teachers, giving them access to some of the most talented teachers.There will be an awards ceremony at the 02 Arena in east London next autumn, where judges will select the best three teachers.

Danielle M. Hart, 36-year-old teacher's aide formerly at the Shepard School, Morristown, New Jersey, has been sentenced to five years in prison on each of two counts for sexually assaulting a student.
Hart was n arrested in February 2009 on allegations that she had a sexual relationship with a then 17-year-old male student in 2007. She was charged with sexual assault, child endangerment and aggravated criminal sexual contact with the alleged offenses committed between June 1 and Nov. 4, 2007. It is alleged the offenses where committed in both Hart’s home and the victim’s home.

Virginia Ann Homberg, 46-year-old woman from Detroit, Michigan, has been found guilty by an all-female jury on rape charges for engaging in sex with a teenage boy.
Homberg was arrested in March 2010 when she was accused of engaging in sex with a male student and sending him sexually explicit pictures. She faced one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and a charge of distributing sexual explicit materials to a minor. According to Wayne County Prosecutor, Homberg and her victim engaged in sex from December 2007, when the student was 14 years old, through February 2010.
On Monday, April 19, 2010, Wayne County District Judge Richard Hammer ruled there was sufficient evidence for Virginia Ann Homberg to stand trial on two counts each of first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and one count of disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor. Homberg remained free on $50,000 bond.
On May 21, 2010, Judge Timothy Kenny increased Virginia Homberg’s bond from $50,000 to $100,000 after the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office told the judge that Homberg had violated a no-contact order with students at the school twice. The prosecution claimed she had been in contact with students by phone and text message. Following the hearing, Homberg was taken into custody in lieu of the higher bond amount.
Police were called to Garden City High School on Feb. 9 by school officials after a friend of Homberg alerted authorities of the alleged sexual acts.

Kimberly McClure, 38-year-old science teacher at Marietta High School in Marietta, Oklahoma, has been charged with second-degree rape for allegedly engaging in sex with a male student.
At her court appeared last week McClure waived her right to a preliminary hearing. She is accused of having sex with a male student while she was a science teacher at Marietta High School. A judge ordered that she has no contact with the alleged victim or his family.
McClure is charged with second degree rape. She was arrested back in July, but bonded out of jail. Her next court date is October 26, when she is expected to enter a plea.

Normally it's kids getting kicked out of Catholic schools for having gay parents. But for Christine Judd, the now-former athletic director and dean of students, being forced out of Cathedral High School, part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield, only took marrying her lesbian partner.
The diocese listed her departure as a resignation, but Judd said she is still exploring her legal options. “I was given a choice of termination or resignation,” Judd said. “I’m hurt, but I wish nothing but the best for Cathedral, its students, the parents, the athletic teams, administration and faculty. I bleed purple (the school’s color).”
Judd, a Springfield resident, worked for the Catholic school for 12 years, beginning as a science teacher in 1998. She became dean of students six years ago and was given the added duties of athletic director three years ago. “I married my partner this summer,” Judd said. “I was hoping that my loyalty, my professionalism the last 12 years would supersede the current hypocrisy that has already been shown with the Diocese of Springfield.”
Asked to elaborate on her claim of hypocrisy, Judd said she questions if there are lay persons who work for the Catholic diocese who divorce and remarry without an annulment, or employees who use birth control, or men who have had vasectomies, or individuals who are pro-choice on abortion.

Shelly Christine Fry, 35-year-old former teacher at Hominy High School, Oklahoma, has been accused of raping a male student.
The allegations date back to last year - Had Shelly Fry not been a teacher, she would not have been arrested on second degree felony rape charges. In Oklahoma there’s a law if a teacher has sex with a student between 16and 20 years-old, they will be arrested and charged. The 35-year old teacher surrendered to the Osage County Sheriff's office yesterday afternoon. She was booked into the jail and later bonded out. Fry is scheduled for a court appearance next week.
Fry, who worked as a special education teacher resigned last year; coincidentally around the time she's alleged to have had sex with the victim.

Amanda Goforth, 26-year-old former teacher has been sentenced last week for engaging in sex with a 14-year-old female student.
Goforth was sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison for sexual battery involving a student. She convicted on two of five countsand wasfound not guilty on the three other counts.
Goforth was also fined $10,000, must register as a sex offender, and will have to serve five years probation after she's released from prison.

Patti Kaye Holdship, 42-year-old woman from Cadillac, Michigan,has been accused of multiple counts of child sex abuse and possession of child pornography involving two boys, ages 15 and 16.
The charges involving the 16-year-old span from January 1 to February 5 2010 in Missaukee County and the 10 counts involving the 15-year-old span from around June 2008 to March 2009. All in all she isr facing 27 counts for manufacturing, distributing and possessing child pornography. Holdship was arraigned this week in Missaukee District Court on the felony charges. A judge ordered her held on a $50,000 bond and ruled that she is to have no contact with minors
The allegations came to light last spring when the parents of the 16-year-old approached police with information that Holdship had had sexual contact with their son.
