Religion has no placed in Modern Society. By Brava
I am certain that modern society will benefit from an environment of education and diversity and that religion will only continue to regress it citizens.
Can you imagine? A world without Religion!
According to The Journal of Religion and Society; prosperous societies with higher rates of belief in and worship of a creator correlate with higher rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, STD infection rates, Drug used, inequality, teen pregnancy and abortion.
The question I ask is how religion has affected your life? When you think of an answer I can tell you that no matter if you practice any form of organized religion or not, somehow your life has been affected either positive or in a negative way.
My purpose today is to encourage you to open your mind to new information and to understand the negative effect of religion throughout history. After you read my article I would have establish evidence to convince you to open your mind and to understand that religion is a personal choice and it has not place in Modern Society.
Because the topic of religion is so controversial it has a great deal of opposition to my view.
For example, many religious organizations’ argue that religion and morals go hand and hand and a society without religion is more likely to fail and because United State has always been a religious country why should be any different now.
I defend my point by showing you how our country is falling behind, in education, technology, social diversity, equality, and economics. How many societies had failed because the base their government on religion, ex. Spain, Germany, Russia, etc… It is a fact that throughout history religion has been the cause of many crimes committed against humanity. Great example to that is, the holocaust, the inquisition, and the crusade, also there is a large list of dictators who were completely religious and the outcome of their government does not need to be explain, they are responsible for over 20,000,000 millions of death and few examples come to mind.
Francisco Franco Spain 1939-1975 Fascist died in office
Joseph Stalin USSR 1924-1953 Communist Revolutionary regime died in office
Adolph Hitler Germany 1933-1945 Fascist World War II, Jewish Holocaust committed suicide
Mao Tse-Tung China 1945-1976 Communist Revolutionary regime died in office
Moreover, United State had eight years of President George Walker Bush who is consider to be one of the most religious President of our time and he left behind a country full of disgrace, failing economic, two wars, inequality, and the worst education rate in history.
When are we going to learn? How many people have to continue dying before we realize that our country should be complete secular? Education and equality should be our most important priority.
Another important point is the examples of many secular countries that are prosperous like France, Sweden, etc…. There is an article in time magazine by Iva Skoch title Least Religious countries were he explain how non-religious countries are strongly correlated with high levels of societal health, such as low homicide rates, low poverty rates, low infant mortality rates, and low illiteracy rates, as well as high levels of educational attainment, per capita income, and gender equality. Most nations characterized by high degrees of individual and societal security have the highest rates of organic atheism. Also According to Richard Dawkins author’ of the bestseller “God Delusion” he explain how secular societies show advancement and are not less moral that those religious society.
Religion should be a personal choice and should not have any part on our government and society as a whole.
The problem with our society is that it dedicates too much time worrying about personal believes, who is sleeping with who, is this person gay or straight and is failing to get the new generation adapt to the new world of diversity and understanding, at the same time our children are not finishing their schools well educated and competitive with the rest of the world.
The controversy around religion and society has been a part of our lives for generations and it has always been a important factor to human development and growth; however it is time to open our mind and to find a common ground were people worship whoever they want in the privacy of their home and allow the government to go on with its business without interference of any type of influence by religion. Separation of church and state is my favorite amendment in the constitution I hope it becomes yours.

Being bad in Italy is no longer a shame. This is the main result of the last 15 years of politics and television. Before the desert sands close over its luxury follies, lessons should be learned – number one, don't believe the hype.
Was anywhere heading for a fall so obviously as Dubai? Yet why did no one ever scream? Why did everyone just marvel?
When I first visited the place three years ago, it was already the most dangerous speculative bubble on earth. Breakneck building – using reputedly a quarter of the world's cranes – was sustained on hysterical public relations and $80bn of debt.
By last March the signs of impending doom were everywhere. Property and stock market prices were falling and only the PR firms were still sustaining morale, witness a cringing ITV documentary by Piers Morgan and grovelling coverage of Sol Kerzner's "world's biggest" hotel launch. Building projects worth a reported $300bn were stopping work overnight.
Yet anyone who wrote a word of the impending doom was excoriated. The Guardian was subjected to a campaign of abusive emails when I reflected on the clear parallel with Shelley's Ozymandias and his trunkless legs of stone: "Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair." What had I against Dubai, they complained. Why could I not recognise the future in Dubai's glorious confidence and its open welcome to the world? The enclave's dictator, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, told critics simply: "Shut up."

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on this year's anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
"The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism," Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
"If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles," he added.
Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.
The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.

Conservative media figures are blasting Democrats for trying to draw political gain from the death of Senator Ted Kennedy. But on Thursday, it was one of their own -- former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee -- who went there.
The 2008 Republican presidential candidate suggested during his radio show, "The Huckabee Report," on Thursday that, under President Obama's health care plan, Kennedy would have been told to "go home to take pain pills and die" during his last year of life.
"[I]t was President Obama himself who suggested that seniors who don't have as long to live might want to consider just taking a pain pill instead of getting an expensive operation to cure them," said Huckabee. "Yet when Sen. Kennedy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at 77, did he give up on life and go home to take pain pills and die? Of course not. He freely did what most of us would do. He choose an expensive operation and painful follow up treatments. He saw his work as vitally important and so he fought for every minute he could stay on this earth doing it. He would be a very fortunate man if his heroic last few months were what future generations remember him most for."Conservative media figures are blasting Democrats for trying to draw political gain... more
Voight asks, "Is President Obama creating a civil war?"
Actor Jon Voight is on his way to Cincinnati, and Atlanta, in order to participate in Fox News host Sean Hannity's latest "Freedom Concerts." But first, he paused long enough to share some extra nuttiness with the Washington Times.
"There's a real question at stake now. Is President Obama creating a civil war in our own country?" Voight said in an interview with the paper.
He continued:
We are witnessing a slow, steady takeover of our true freedoms. We are becoming a socialist nation, and whoever can't see this is probably hoping it isn't true ...
Do not let the Obama administration fool you with all their cunning Alinsky methods. And if you don't know what that method is, I implore you to get the book "Rules for Radicals," by Saul Alinsky. Mr. Obama is very well trained in these methods.
The real truth is that the Obama administration is professional at bullying, as we have witnessed with ACORN at work during the presidential campaign. It seems to me they are sending down their bullies to create fist fights among average American citizens who don't want a government-run health care plan forced upon them. So I ask again: Is President Obama creating a civil war in our own country?Voight asks, "Is President Obama creating a civil war?"

Monsanto, the world's biggest seed company, said on Wednesday it hoped legal action to end Germany's ban on growing its genetically modified (GMO) maize would allow the variety to be sown for the 2009 harvest.
On Tuesday, Monsanto said it had started legal action against the decision on April 14 by German Agriculture Minister Ilse Aigner to ban cultivation and sale of Monanto's MON 810 GMO maize which stopped it being sown for this year's harvest.
Monsanto hoped a court decision would be available by mid-May which would permit the maize to be sown for this year's harvest, a Monsanto spokesman said.
An application for an urgent hearing had been made in a German district court. German maize is planted in April and May.
The company would contest the ban because it believed the decision damaged its legal rights as the European Union had approved the maize as safe, he said.
Aigner had said she decided to issue the ban as information showed there was a justifiable reason to believe GMO maize presented a danger to the environment.
Such decisions must be based on new scientific information, the Monsanto spokesman said.
"The explanation that we received from the BVL (German federal food safety agency) last Friday contains no new scientific findings and the study that the BVL puts forward has already been examined by the European Food Safety Authority and other agencies," he said.
The EFSA is the EU risk assessment agency for food and animal feed safety.
A spokesperson for Germany's Agriculture Ministry said: "We have taken note of this lawsuit, which is not a surprise." The ministry would not make detailed comment on legal cases.
The ban put Germany alongside France, Austria, Hungary, Greece and Luxembourg, which also banned MON 810 maize despite its approval by the EU as safe for commercial use in the bloc.

We have all watched in amazement as the defaced photos of President Obama as Hitler held by wild eye'd crazy people screaming loudly with no more of a purpose than to disrupt and to stop the Democratic process. These loud mouth antagonists following their seemingly well distrubuted scripts of Anarchy 101. These people who now claim, to be Blue Dog Democrats or, independents etc.. All also claim to be only wanting a different type of health-care reform? When the truth is self evident by any person that would quickly choose a sign of Hitler and swastikas' to taunt as if these evil signs and symbols had something remotely to do with health care. By their own professed actions they show more to be the apostles of the extremist far right locked in "goose-step" with others like them across the country... following the lead of organizations like: NEWSMAX and Christopher Ruddy, Rush Limbaugh's along with the other hate screaming Neocons and Fascists. It seems rather amazing as after eight years at the helm with Bush, leaving the country on it's knees ruined. Now these over-caffeinated and angry losers, who only want democracy- Only if "they win", are at it again!
We need not forget ~ That some of our goose-stepping colleagues have been assigned to be here.
You can hear some of their voices here among us everyday. They are on a mission... Their own mission to instigate hatred, conflict, discord to disrupt the process and ultimately to destroy Democratic process.
You might ask... Why would they do that? Because, A Democracy is not a "Republic".
You hear their voices twisting the honest need by real people for Obama's Health Care Reform as an "Evil Socialist Plot" to take over the country and the government. These people are deliberately trying to push everyones buttons to cause, a riot and revolt between each other. They want that!!! The truth is, they are nothing more than a group of people with their own agenda that has less to do with Health Care.... and more about their own twisted political beliefs. = > To them.... IT IS ONLY ABOUT THEM!
They want to disrupt this political process by yelling "FIRE" in a crowded movie theatre!
SO NOW.... LETS TALK ABOUT THE REAL ISSUES HERE...
"HEALTH CARE and THE MILKING OF THE CASH COW! "
FIRST.... IT IS NOT ABOUT HEALTH CARE: It is all it about MONEY!
The Huge Money that flows into all these MEGA BUSINESSES. Business like; BlueCross, Blue Sheild and all of the other major health care insurance companies. This is all about keeping that money coming into their pockets! This is huge money!!!! BILLIONS!!!! That these industries are making EVERYDAY, EVERY HOUR, EVERY SECOND. All coming from the wallets and the backs of the hard working people across America.
"ALL THEIR DISCUSSION ABOUT HEALTH CARE THIS IS ONLY ABOUT KEEPING THAT MONEY FLOWING INTO THEIR POCKETS!!!! "
The Obama Health Care Reform Plan, when passed will stop that cash flow and their Milking of the "Cash Cow" and that damages their bottom Line! >> THAT IS WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT!
(2) IT IS NOT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF HEALTH CARE:
Every one of these Paid Government elected Politicians are lying through their teeth about how bad Government run Healthcare is . Because All of them have "Government Run Healthcare" themselves. (AND THEY ALL LOVE IT !)
(3) WAKEUP!!!
Health Insurance Companies have been bleeding all of us with as much money as they can get from our pockets !
(4) THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRIES ARE ADDICTED THAT MONEY:
They are addicted to that cash flow like a drug. Like any addict or Junky... they will: LIE, CHEAT and, STEAL in order to continue that cash flow and keep that (MONEY/DRUG) coming in.
What we are all witnessing on all media everyday are these Addicts doing everything and anything to continue to protect their overcharging of population by Billions and Trillions of Dollars !!!

If the folks in Ohio pay his salary (they do by attending the games!), then he should show some respect for them. I don't care who he roots for - just don't rub your "employers" nose in it!
Go sit in a skybox and root for the 'enemy' from there - is he so lacking in respect/wisdom that he doesn't know he's going to rile the hometown crowd? Or does he just not care?
It does seem odd that he's a local from Akron and does this - he grew up in football country near the NFL Hall of Fame - he should know how the locals cherish their Browns. If he'd made this mistake at a Browns/Steelers, he'd probably have been put in stocks and pilloried!
As Phillip Morris wrote in his column on Monday :
"I understand that James is not your average local celebrity. He is a citizen of the world. He is the biggest global icon to call Cleveland home since Rockefeller paraded around town.
Nike recently dedicated a museum in James' honor in Shanghai. A movie about his early basketball life headlined over the weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival.
His star eclipsed Cleveland's the moment he walked out of Akron's Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School.
Still, you have to wonder why James, who recently built a palace outside of Akron, demonstrates no love for the teams that continue to hold an iron grip on the region's collective psyche?
More importantly, why does he insist on making it clear that we have very different tastes? It's not easy being in love with a guy who doesn't like any of your friends.
It makes you wonder whether he really likes you.
I suppose it could be worse: He could be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. But that sort of nonsense would make his life difficult in Cleveland.
I guess we have no choice but to count our blessings and simply celebrate our Yankee-loving-Cowboy-hugging-global icon until he divorces us and takes his game somewhere else."
Sports stars don't seem to get it nowadays.

There is no god, or anything else that would qualify as supernatural.
Don't buy the lie. Faith is an excuse for not thinking. Belief in god is intellectual suicide.
Be brave, be strong, face the truth: we are animals here on this planet, mammals that live and die like any other mammal.
There is wonder and mystery and beauty in this world; don't waste this one life believing in some silly, superstitious, non-sense.
The atheist needs to prove nothing. The atheist accepts the natural world as it appears. It is the believer that must prove there is some invisible force, the proverbial old man in a white robe, pushing all the buttons in some magic control room in the sky that no one can see.
In short, the burden of proof is on the believer.
Belief in god is dangerous; belief in god leads to war, death, pain and miserey; belief in god is a tool of oppression.
Be a zealot for the truth. It is a crime that people teach children that there is a god, a heaven and a hell. To force a child to accept such non-sense is an insult to the intelligence and should be treated as child abuse.
Everytime the atheist makes people more aware of the possibility of atheism it is a victory. Anytime the atheist can plant a seed of doubt it is a victory.
The fact that a majority may believe in the supernatural is not an argument for the supernatural. At one time the majority thought blacks inferior, thought the sun revolved around the earth, and even that the earth was flat. The majority has a horrible track record.
The truth: there is no god; jesus is some dead dude, not divine but no doubt charming, and just another bag of rotting flesh.
I encourage all believers to give up the shackles of faith, the bondage of belief, the cursed darkness of religion, and be born again into the sweetness of reason and light.
Be a hero. Be an atheist!

With the Democratic National Convention only three months away, Senator Barack Obama has asked a tight circle of advisers to begin conducting a confidential search for prospective running mates.
Mr. Obama, who intends to wait until the final primaries end on June 3 before declaring victory in the presidential nominating fight with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, has sworn his advisers to secrecy. The search is in its earliest phases, officials said, and Mr. Obama has asked Jim Johnson, a longtime Democratic hand, to lead the process.
Mr. Johnson, who is a vice chairman of the Obama campaign, led the vice presidential search for Senator John Kerry, Democrat of Massachusetts, in 2004 and Walter Mondale in 1984. In recent weeks, officials said, he started to compile information – largely biographical – for a long list of potential running mates.
Democratic officials discussed Mr. Johnson’s role on condition of anonymity because Mr. Obama has demanded that the process be kept secret, and they did not want him to know they were talking about it. Advisers to Mr. Obama declined to discuss the search or any elements of the process.

GARY, Ind. — The standard Barack Obama venue lately has been high schools. Truman High School, Theodore Roosevelt High School, Jefferson High School.
The Democratic presidential candidate has been pitching an audience-pleasing message of economic populism to crowds of a few thousand packed into each gymnasium. But he gets some of his loudest applause when he segues to education _ and a bit of a lecture to mothers and fathers on how to be parents.
Sure, there is the usual critique of current government policies. But the cheering peaks with a dose of tough talk.
"Parents if you don't parent, we can't improve our schools," he said. "You've got to parent. You've got to turn off the television set in your house once in a while, you've got to put the video game away once in a while."
The crowd reacted raucously and Obama laughed. "You know what I say is true, though. Don't blame the teachers, and the government and the schools if you're not doing your job."game away once in a while.". . .GARY, Ind. — The standard Barack Obama venue lately has been high schools.... more
