I just attended a lecture at the University of Oregon where Researcher Robert Hastings discussed the recent declassification of CIA documents with regard to the numerous UFO sitings for which they have records of. Apparently there is a noticeable pattern. The UFOs most highest frequency of appearances are related to nuclear weapons installations and research facilities, and in many, many cases, the appearance of the UFOs has resulted in the disruption of tests, planned exercises and communications with nuclear missiles. This has been documented in both the USA and Russia.
The lecture was quite interesting as we were given a tour of some of the key documents that Mr. Hastings has collected over his years of research, including excerpts from accounts of UFO incidents from the over 130 personal interviews that Mr. Hastings has conducted with retired military personnel.
Since 1981, Hastings has presented his research findings at more than 500 colleges and universities nationwide, and possesses hundreds of highly favorable letters of recommendation from sponsors. "I am not condemning any government agency for its policy of secrecy regarding UFOs", says Hastings, "but I believe that the public should be given the facts."
Hastings believes that UFOs are piloted by visitors from elsewhere in the universe who, for whatever reason, have taken an interest in our long-term survival. He contends that these beings are occasionally disrupting our nukes to send a message to the American and Soviet/Russian governments that their possession and potential large-scale use of nuclear weapons threatens the future of humanity and the environmental integrity of the planet. In short, Washington and Moscow are being warned that they are "playing with fire."
To suggest that this scenario is the only explanation for widespread UFO sightings during the modern era would be presumptuous, simplistic, and undoubtedly inaccurate. Nevertheless, Hastings believes that the now well-documented nuclear weapons-related incidents are integral to an understanding of the mystery that confronts us.
Sometimes reality is indeed stranger than fiction.I just attended a lecture at the University of Oregon where Researcher Robert Hastings... more

The State of Arizona has passed legislation banning the Mexican American Ethnic Studies curriculum from state primary and secondary schools, and legislators are now targeting the state university system. The list of books banned from the schools includes many of the classics of US Latino literature, and even Shakespeare’s The Tempest. (See a list of banned books, coverage in Daily Beast on the ban and its effects).
A coalition of UO and community groups is coming together to show solidarity with the students and educators of Arizona and raise consciousness about the issue by giving a public reading of the banned works.
This reading is organized by The Department of Romance Languages, and co-sponsored by the Departments of English, Ethnic Studies, Comparative Literature, the Program in Latin American Studies, and the Department of Education Studies of the College of Education, MEChA, and the Eugene Public Library.
All are invited to come hear, first hand, some of the texts that have been censored in Arizona’s schools. Readings will include selections from books by Howard Zinn, Sandra Cisneros, Junot Díaz, Gloria Anzaldúa, William Shakespeare, and others.

No one expects a zombie apocalypse. But the University of Florida is making sure officials are ready for a night of the living dead, just in case.
The school has a plan for responding to the undead on its Web site among outlines for dealing with hurricanes and pandemics.
The exercise lays out how university officials would respond to attacks by "flesh-eating, apparently life impaired individuals." It notes that a zombie outbreak might include "documentation of lots of strange moaning."

Oldest radiocarbon dated human remains in North America found in Oregon
For some 85 years, homesteaders, pot hunters and archaeologists have been digging at Paisley Caves, a string of shallow depressions washed out of an ancient lava flow by the waves of a lake that comes and goes with the changing climate.
Until now, they have found nothing conclusive — arrowheads, baskets, animal bones and sandals made by people who lived thousands of years ago on the shores of what was then a 40-mile-long lake, but is now a sage brush desert on the northern edge of the Great Basin.
But a few years ago, University of Oregon archaeologist Dennis Jenkins and his students started digging where no one had dug before. What the team discovered in an alcove used as a latrine and trash dump has elevated the caves to the site of the oldest radiocarbon dated human remains in North America.

Woody Harrelson leads the industrialized hemp movement in the documentary,“Hempsters”.
Watch Woody get arrested as he fights for old-school tobacco farmers who see hemp as a sustainable crop that could save their family farms.
The break down:
Hemp and marijuana are both varieties of the same plant, Cannabis sativa.
It’s illegal to grow both hemp and marijuana in the U.S, but it is legal to buy and sell hemp products in the U.S.
Smoking marijuana gets you high, smoking hemp doesn’t.
Everything from diapers to carpets can be made from hemp.Woody Harrelson leads the industrialized hemp movement in the... more
