Martin Bashir just painted Joe Walsh as the shyster he is in real time on Tuesday's show. After setting up the conversation about tax rates, and getting Walsh to say outright that he doesn't want debt placed on his children, which leads to the key question. Bashir asks him whether or not he has a problem shorting his child support and placing that burden on his children now.
The only defense Walsh mounts is to say he's innocent until proven guilty, and gets Bashir to agree to apologize if the court outcome shows he doesn't owe all that. Of course, these are pretty easy charges to prove. There hasn't been a dispute that he owed support that wasn't paid. Walsh is simply claiming that he doesn't owe as much as they claim.
Of course, this is the Republican party line, this idea that because the money is income from investments where the corporations have already paid taxes, dividends should not be taxable to individuals receiving them. Except we all know that the corporations, particularly those paying dividends, are paying very little, if any corporate tax. So it really hasn't been taxed at all.
Bashir did a terrific job in what follows of tying Walsh's tax attitudes into the morality of his child support attitudes. Child support is a pretty quantifiable thing. You take the earnings of each spouse, figure out the time the children spend with each spouse, and apply the formula to arrive at the support amount. In California, that's not negotiable. It is what it is, and isn't negotiated away in settlements or any other way. Today, Walsh seemed to claim he doesn't owe what's been alleged. But last year, he didn't deny he owed support payments. He simply claimed he didn't have the money to pay them, despite his rather hefty Congressional salary.
Something doesn't add up, as CREW notes while awarding him the title of Most Corrupt. But despite Rep. Walsh's vehement denials, the question was valid whether it's one hundred dollars owed or one hundred thousand dollars owed. If Rep. Walsh is such a believer in not placing debt on his children, he should pay his child support and quit posturing about it on television.

I love it when elected officials engage in hilarious political theater like this:
A bill clearly inspired by U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh's child support issues would forbid people owing more than $10,000 in back child support from running for office in Illinois.
House Bill 3932, filed Tuesday by state Rep. Jack Franks, D-Marengo, would require statements of candidacy to include a statement that the person running for office is not delinquent by $10,000 or more.
Walsh, a tea party Republican freshman representing the 8th Congressional District, is facing allegations in court by his ex-wife that he owes her more than $100,000 in back child support. Walsh has not been found delinquent or in contempt of court in the ongoing dispute.

It was a real pain searching for this guy and waiting for him. He we’re out there for more than 4 hours, I remember! As the chief of security, Al usually isn’t that clumsy. While chasing Manny he tripped over a very large crack, fell and chipped his tooth. We got so many e-mails from concerned people, but Al is totally fine. He’s a warrior. For that night, Tata had gotten away from Al after their confrontation. Our team the next day reassemble and confronted the Jones at his job. The owner of the gym was furious and came after us once he saw our lights and cameras. We believe that Manny had tipped of the owner of our presents. It was then that Manny stood behind the owner and actually tried to fend us off with his notebook planner. The dead beat actually threw his planner at our camera man. None of the footage was recorded because one, the camera was destroyed and two the gym owner threaten to call the cops on us for recording inside. Manny had his day his way. However, we’re surprised at what happened next. Three days after gym confrontation, we received a call from Diana praising us. It turns out Manny had finally came to his senses and delivered her a down payment of $2500 . Manny still doesn’t see his child Jason. However, Diana is dating another man now who treats Jason like his own son. We tried getting in touch with Manny Jones via telephone, but he proved to be unavailable with every try.
Personally, I didn’t like this guy. He threw a daily planner at the camera man destroying some good footage we took…spying on him!! What a broke jerk!It was a real pain searching for this guy and waiting for him. He we’re out... more

South Carolina dosen't seem to understand it takes a women and a man to have a child . One of the results of this lack of holding the fathers responsabale as much as the mother for the children they have .
South Carolina has one of the highest teen birth rates in the nation. Each of these pregnancies --- among girls as young as 10 and 11 years-old --- create substantial social, health-related and economic consequences for the individuals involved, as well as for every taxpayer in South Carolina. . Between 1995 and 2000, the state incurred nearly $51 million in direct costs due to teen pregnancies in the form of economic and housing assistance, foster care and juvenile justice issues
In 2004 According to the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs' 2004 Statistical Profile, 31 percent of all children in South Carolina under the age of 18 live in single-parent families .Of all females in the state who give birth, 40.1 percent are single;
In 2006 South Carolina Kids Count Project Director Baron Holmes : Stated "In order for young children to reach their potential, their health, family, economics, and safety would have to improve by at least 20% on the Kids Count indicators." The required reduction to reach the national average would be: Single-Parent Families by 22%;
In all of my reserch I have only found only one thing that turns the the tide of single parent births by this high of number . The paper is titled "The Impact of Child Support Enforcement Policy on Nonmarital Childbearing." The research was supported by the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology at the University of Washington and a grant from the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Researchers studying the factors behind out-of-wedlock births have found a significant variable that often is overlooked: child support. States that are strict in enforcing child support have up to 20 percent fewer unmarried bi rths than states that are lax about getting unmarried dads to pay, the researchers found.
