National Public Radio's most recognized name, Ira Glass, known for his This American Life radio series and Television Series here on Current came out swinging in defense of his home radio network.
Glass begged the question of why NPR was just buckling under the pressure of the missleading bias charges charges lobbed by activist blogger, and self proclamed "Investigative Journalist" James O'Keefe instead of defending itself in the media.
"We have nothing to fear from a discussion of what is the news coverage we're doing. As somebody who works in public radio, it is killing me that people on the right are going around trying to basically rebrand us, saying that it's biased news, it's left wing news, when I feel like anybody who listens to the shows knows that it's not. And we are not fighting back, we are not saying anything back. I find it completely annoying, and I don't understand it." Said glass on NPR's On The Media, "Go through this morning's 'Morning Edition' and find me even a sentence that smells like political bias to you..."

Roger Ailes, the Pillsbury Newsboy, hates NPR. Thinks they're a bunch of Nazis. That's no surprise. Most Republicans hate them. This week they hate NPR because they fired Juan Williams for admitting he's a pusillanimous ninny who pisses his Sansabelts at the mere sight of a Muslim, just like Ailes and his stable of the Biggest Gigantic Screeching Heads.Roger Ailes, the Pillsbury Newsboy, hates NPR. NPR fired Juan Williams for saying he's nervous when Muslims board his plane. As expected, conservatives are howling to yank NPR funding and liberals are saying NPR jumped the gun. It's nice to see we've finally achieved bipartisanship by rallying around the notion that NPR sucks - unless, of course, you're an opera fan.NPR fired Juan Williams for saying he's nervous when Muslims board his plane. Let's be honest: although it can be extremely valuable, interning can be one
of the most unpleasant, underappreciated experiences of one's professional
career. Some call it paying your dues, others call it just plain bad luck
when you get saddled with mundane tasks like fetching coffee and walking
dogs.
But there ARE internships out there that at least try to teach you
something. Since we are a small group here at Vanguard, whenever a new
person joins our team, his/her contribution is just as important as someone
who's been working here for years. We are fortunate to have two interns
with us right now--Tania Rashid and Dan Ucko--and the work they've done with
us so far has been immeasurable. From doing research for shows in our new
season--be it Porn 2.0 or Notes From a War on Terror--to helping us spread
the word about Vanguard on Facebook, our interns help keep the train
running.
Their involvement with the Vanguard team reminds me of when I was an intern
not so long ago... only it was in radio, not television. I interned at
National Public Radio for a show that had a good run for a few years but is
no longer on the air. But even so, the experience I got working with
professionals in the broadcast industry gave me the confirmation that
journalism was a field I wanted to pursue, and I have my mentors at NPR to
thank for it. I only hope our interns get something of value out of being
here with us. I know we wouldn't be able to operate the same way without
them!
So, in an ode to interns everywhere, here is a link to the NPR show entirely
produced by interns. It's called Intern Edition.
And here is an archive of Intern Editions past.
During my time at NPR, I too produced a story for Intern Edition...it's
buried somewhere in there...good luck trying to find it!

In an interview on National Public Radio, former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger states Sarah Palin is not ready to be president and he devoutly hopes she would never be tested. Eagleburger, a Republican, served under George H.W. Bush and is supporting McCain, though McCain may be wondering how strong that support is at the moment. McCain regularly cites Eagleburger as an important endorsement.

Let the witch hunt begin. Are you now or have you ever been an illegal immigrant?
Are any of your friends illegal? Relatives?
Michael Savage, who has the third-most-listened-to show in the nation, said the following on his July 2 broadcast:
When I see a woman walking around with a burqa, I see a Nazi. Thats what I see. How do you like that? A hateful Nazi who would like to cut your throat and kill your children.
When a woman wears a burqa, said Mr. Savage, Shes doing it to spit in your face. Shes saying, You white moron, you, Im going to kill you if I can.
Just watching the gardener!
