Hip-hop artist Blue Marley and Done Deal Enterprises are involved in what could be the biggest copy write infringement Lawsuits the music industry has ever seen over Lil Wayne and Young Money’s smash hit “Bedrock.” DDE filed suit against Young Money, Cash Money, Universal Music, and Lil Wayne on July 29th. Marley, who claims to have written the Bedrock song months before Young Money’s version with the exact same title, with various other parts of the song taken word for word from him.

From today two of the UK's biggest music labels are releasing singles for sale as soon as they are played on the radio. In a move to tackle the problem of piracy Universal and Sony Music will start their "On Air, On Sale" policy.Usually songs are played on radio and TV to drum up hype and interest for up to six weeks before they are released for sale. But this practice has gradually become redundant as wen impatient music lovers now go online to listen instantly to new music and often (ehem) illegally download the songs.With this new policy, the record companies hope that fans will be encouraged to buy the song rather than get a pirated copy as they can get hold of a good quality track straight away.This move follows the success of the X factor in selling the winner's single immediately after the final.Universal Music UK Chairman David Joseph said that the changes are being made because "We live in an immediate world."In his statement he said:"On Air, On Sale is good news for any music fan and exciting for our artists who can now go into the studio knowing they don't have to wait weeks or sometimes months to see the music they have created go on sale."

Valley Kingdom Ministries International refuses to pay creative staff for services rendered.
Kingdom Records (Chicago, IL), under the direction of Apostle H. Daniel Wilson, currently owes over $1 million in unpaid royalties for albums distributed during 2002-2010.
When contacted by What Label? Management on behalf of songwriter, Qiana Brock, Kingdom Records representatives stated that since the faith-based business incurs operational costs Ms. Brock will not be paid.

Candid, "reality TV"-style footage of Jimi Hendrix at home, backstage and "hanging out" will soon be released, according to the late musician's sister.
The footage dates from 1969, when a camera crew followed Hendrix for a month, catching him both on and off stage. The Hendrix estate will release the footage in a DVD later this year, as part of a new deal with Universal Music Publishing Group.
Universal is taking over from Sony/ATV Music Publishing, who have represented Hendrix outside of the USA since 1998. Experience Hendrix, a company run by the late guitarist's sister, Janie Hendrix, continues to represent his music within the US.
Experience Hendrix have "10 more years of Hendrix music" in their archives, according to Janie. "Currently I am in the studio transferring tapes of Band of Gypsys performances that have never been released before," she said, referring to Hendrix's final band. This was the first major attempt to monetise peer to peer music sharing, tentatively branded as "Virgin Music Unlimited". But in the end, just as it was moving in to the final stages before launch, Universal and Sony music's 'anti-piracy' demands apparently became too much for Virgin to accommodate.
Universal and Sony allegedly demanded that Virgin block uploads and downloads of songs from subscribers' PCs. Since the system was set up to encourage file sharing, these demands effectively removed Virgin Music Unlimited's key selling point.
