Properties in Belfast were raided with reports of a number of victims trafficked rescued in Operation Apsis. It is stated the Operation aims to rescue victims in a number of UK based raids.

Though the Home Secretary Theresa May was accused of abandoning women and victims of trafficking by former HS Alan Johnson. In an interview he said the department opted out of a EU directive which would clamp down on trafficking in Europe.

Shadow home secretary David Davis has resigned as an MP to highlight his opposition to the detention of terror suspects for 42 days without charge.
His resignation will trigger a by-election which he will fight on the grounds that he is against government's increasing intrusion into the public's lives.
In a statement, Mr Davis said the creation of a "database state" could not continue.
"It must be stopped," he said, "and for that reason it is incumbent on me to take a stand.
"I will be resigning my membership of this house and force a by-election.
"I will fight this by-election on the issue of relentless erosion of fundamental British freedoms."

The government should limit the data it collects on citizens for its ID card scheme to avoid creating a surveillance society, a group of MPs has warned.
The home affairs select committee called for proper safeguards on the plans for compulsory ID cards to stop "function creep" threatening privacy. It wants a guarantee the scheme will not be expanded without MPs' approval. The Ministry of Justice said it had to balance protecting the public with protecting a right to privacy.
The Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said that many people welcomed the use of devices such as CCTV cameras.

The future of a ban imposed over a century ago on the UK police forces, which prevents them from taking industrial strike action, is to be voted on later this month. The proposed ballot comes as police management called for the resignation of Jacqui Smith, Home Secretary.
