The last time that Cal was ranked in any poll was the 10th week of 2007 when they were ranked 24th on the AP poll. It was November 4, 2007, ironically they'd just beaten Washington State by the score of 20-17. After that, they'd go on to lose to USC...The last time that Cal was ranked in any poll was the 10th week of 2007 when they were... more

When I wrote my game preview titled 'A pummeling in Pullman,' I wrote it with a questionmark at the end of it. Little did I know that the title I wrote as a question would've been a better title for the recap, with an exclamation. Just my luck I guess, but how could I have known that Cal would put a beatdown on the Cougars like they did on Saturday?...When I wrote my game preview titled 'A pummeling in Pullman,' I wrote it... more

The Cal Bears travel to Pullman, Washington for their Pac-10 opener on Saturday, September 6, at 3:30pm PST. Coming off of a thrilling victory last Saturday at home against Michigan State, the Bears will hope to put this one away early, but those types of victories within the conference are rare gems...The Cal Bears travel to Pullman, Washington for their Pac-10 opener on Saturday,... more

The last time so many young players on the Cal football team were getting opportunities to play was probably in coach Jeff Tedford's second season (2003) where he rotated between Aaron Rodgers and Reggie Robertson at the quarterback spot. Even then, it's probable that the 2003 team was still a little older. Their quarterbacks were definitely not Sophomores....The last time so many young players on the Cal football team were getting... more

This year's Bears team has been touting their new toughness since the end of camp a week ago. They've also been sure to point out that the leadership on the team is much better. In 2007, the college football world couldn't stop talking about Cal's DeSean Jackson and his highlight reel returns. Going into the season, he was one of the top Heisman candidates and he led what was one of the best receiving groups in the country, arguably THE best group that the Golden Bears have ever assembled...In 2007, the college football world couldn't stop talking about Cal's DeSean... more

By now I'm sure you've heard the news about Kevin Riley getting the starting nod as the Cal Bears' starting quarterback. Being Cal's starter going into the season hasn't been a guarantee, during the Tedford era, that you'll end the season that way....By now I'm sure you've heard the news about Kevin Riley getting the starting... more

The final scrimmage for Cal's football team is complete, the coaches have no doubt already made their minds up about nearly all 64 slots on the Bears' depth chart, and however it shakes out the Golden Bears will most likely be a young team. It's not unusual for a top-flight program like Cal to carry more freshmen than any other class...The final scrimmage for Cal's football team is complete, the coaches have no... more

Jeff Tedford is beginning to leak some of the players that he has in mind for starting spots when Cal faces Michigan State August 30th. The Bears will have their final intrasquad scrimmage Tuesday and some of the open roster positions may very well be decided by a broken up pass or a critical third down catch....Jeff Tedford is beginning to leak some of the players that he has in mind for starting... more

With less than two weeks before Cal's football season begins, there is still no clear cut starter for the most important position on the team, quarterback. Since Aaron Rodgers moved on to back up legendary quarterback Brett Favre, the Cal program is still looking for a guy to step in and fill the big shoes he left behind...With less than two weeks before Cal's football season begins, there is still no... more

So there was a pretty one sided answer to my post this morning that asked who blew it worse over the weekend the California Golden Bears loosing in the last seconds of the game or the collapse in Boston which tied the ALCS 1-1. Most people said that the Bears blew it harder than the Red Sox. Tonight the Indians won game three and have taken a 2-1 lead in the ALCS. So its time to update your response. California had the number 1 ranking in college football (potentially) but Kevin Riley decided to RUN the ball with time expiring? The Red Sox gave up seven runs in extra innings in Fenway to give the Indians the game. So the question is "Who blew it worse?"
