Cancer patient Briana Bilbray—the daughter of Congressman Brian Bilbray—and local medical marijuana cooperatives on Monday filed for an injunction to stop a federal crackdown on marijuana sales.
Attorney Matt Kumin, who filed for the injunction, said the goal is for the U.S. Justice Department and U.S. attorneys "to stop threatening folks who are in compliance with state law."
The filing comes a month after the Justice Department pledged to crack down on California's commercial marijuana cooperatives and dispensaries.
Plantiffs in the case include four medical marijuana cooperatives from across San Diego and 25-year-old Imperial Beach resident Briana Bilbray. Bilbray's brother, Brian Patrick Bilbray, is an Imperial Beach city councilman and her father, Brian Bilbray, is a U.S. Congressman representing California's 50th District and a former mayor of Imperial Beach. The congressman's district includes Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos and 4S Ranch.
Briana Bilbray has Stage 3 melanoma cancer and opposed the city of Imperial Beach's efforts to restrict medical marijuana cooperatives earlier this year.
"Before I had cancer I thought it was people just trying to get it legalized," she said. "That changed pretty much once I realized that it really did work and it was a legitimate way to get nausea to go away."
Ultimately, she would like to see more discussion on the federal side about marijuana's medicinal benefits.
Bilbray said she also chose to "stand up for it" to ensure she and other patients have access.
"My cancer has a 40 percent chance of reoccurrence and I'm really nervous I'm not going to be able to get it [marijuana], cause the nausea's just unbearable," she said.
Speaking before the Imperial Beach City Council in July, Bilbray said she bought $200 worth of nausea-reducing medicine that provided her no assistance. In contrast, she said one dose of medical marijuana relieves her for an entire day.
"You have no idea. It is like the difference between night and day for chemo patients," she said. "Not only are you infringing on my right as a California resident to obtain the medicine I need, but you are punishing me by making it more difficult to get the one thing I really need.

In Wake of US Attorney's Ominous Statements Regarding Alt-Weekly Medical Marijuana Ads, Notorious Publisher Jim Holman Implements "Hemp-Based" Back Pages.
"Let's give them something to investigate."
STARING AT THE SALMON-PINK WALLS OF MY CUBICLE, MARVELING AT THE WONDER OF IT ALL - As the Federal Government continues the Great Medical Marijuana Panty-Bunching of 2011, concerns have arisen at alt-weeklies all over the state about the potential loss of ad revenue brought on by a crackdown on pot dispensaries.
In preparation for such an event, Reader publisher Jim Holman today announced his paper's plan to make the paper's medical marijuana ads "a little more user-friendly, if you know what I mean. Instead of printing the ads on expensive glossy stock, we'll be switching over to a more practical paper made from hemp and, um, other natural products.

In the beginning… God made the seed bearing plant and gave it to man for food, and saw that it was good. Then, man, thinking he knew more than God, was foolish and made it illegal to grow and use hemp and that was not good. If ever there was a plant that could single handedly save our planet, it is the hemp plant. The hemp plant is not bothered by many pests, and is usually grown without the use of herbicides or insecticides that contribute to polluting our environment, products, and workers. There are so many uses for this plant that it could reduce our use of other resources that are not renewable, or like trees, take years to replenish. In the beginning… God made the seed bearing plant and gave it to man for food,... more

The House Judiciary Committee passed a bill yesterday that would make it a federal crime for U.S. residents to discuss or plan activities on foreign soil that, if carried out in the U.S., would violate the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) -- even if the planned activities are legal in the countries where they're carried out. The new law, sponsored by Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) allows prosecutors to bring conspiracy charges against anyone who discusses, plans or advises someone else to engage in any activity that violates the CSA, the massive federal law that prohibits drugs like marijuana and strictly regulates prescription medication.
"Under this bill, if a young couple plans a wedding in Amsterdam, and as part of the wedding, they plan to buy the bridal party some marijuana, they would be subject to prosecution," said Bill Piper, director of national affairs for the Drug Policy Alliance, which advocates for reforming the country's drug laws. "The strange thing is that the purchase of and smoking the marijuana while you're there wouldn't be illegal. But this law would make planning the wedding from the U.S. a federal crime."The House Judiciary Committee passed a bill yesterday that would make it a federal... more

Seattle (NBC) - We all love our animals and want to keep them happy. Since it's hard for them to roll a joint, a Seattle company is developing a medical marijuana patch for pets. Jim Alekson's Medical Marijuana Delivery Systems LLC has patented a patch called Tetracan that he says could be used on dogs, cats and even horses.
But why would a dog need medical marijuana?
"Because dogs suffer from the same maladies that humans do. It's a question of quality of life," said Alekson.
While the patch does conjure visions of pups frolicking in fields of poppies, Alekson says pets suffer greatly from pain, everything from arthritis to cancer. He points to pharmaceutical painkillers that have proven harmful, sometimes fatal in animals.
Alekson, an owner of three Papillons, says the pot patch is far more mellow.
"I'd much rather they were on something holistic as opposed to something chemical that I know is breaking down some of the organs in their body," he said.

MTCIA Still Working for Clarity Following Ruling
On July 1, 2011, by Kate Cholewa ....
Urgent Update: Get your patients to fill out the form to make you a provider NOW.
Need help understanding process to switch patients from you as “caregiver” to “provider”? MTCIA member Bob Cypers is willing to help: 406- 459-3104
Judge Reynolds’ ruling was a partial victory. The new law slated to go into effect yesterday would have essentially ended access to medical marijuana in Montana. Access has been preserved. However, given that it was a partial injunction, many provisions are still going into effect. For a comparison of what the law would have done without the injunction compared to the situation with the injunction, go here.
In terms of functionality, the biggest issue is that caregivers were eliminated as of midnight. Yes, growers can still have medical marijuana businesses, but they must be registered as “providers” as per the requirements of the new law. So, according to the letter of the law, if you had 15 patients yesterday as a caregiver, you would be operating against the law if you were serving them today. You must undergo the paperwork to become a provider. The patients must name you as such.
This, of course, temporarily breaks down the entire system. Yet, it was clearly the judge’s intention to allow commercial activity.
The judge’s ruling came out at the end of business hours yesterday. Little could be done last night to seek clarifications. No guarantees, but the MTCIA and their attorneys are working to see what might be done about this transition.
And don’t forget, the new law can still be stopped in its entirety through the referendum process.

We wait for Judge Reynolds’ ruling on the new medical marijuana law passed by the legislature that destroys access to cannabis in Montana. The new law’s effective date is midnight tonight, June 30. The ruling will determine whether an injunction will be granted and the law be kept from going into effect until the courts can examine the constitutionality of the new law more thoroughly.
So, what’s it going to be? Hacked up gardens, hidden mothers, and shock? Some mix of enjoined provisions and permitted provisions that will need to be sorted out in short order so to be compliant by midnight? Or, will it be a full injunction and celebration tempered by calculation – what to do next? Will an injunction mean federal guns, Montana’s constitution be damned?
The petition language for the referendum to stop the new law and place it on the 2012 ballot was approved on Tuesday. The next step is training for signature gatherers. The petition should be on the streets probably within a week. At the national level, petitions have been circulating this week directed at U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Holder has said the Obama administration will be clarifying federal policy on states with medical marijuana laws. The petitions encourage policy that has the feds back off and leave states to sort out this issue without their guns and the confusion they cause when they arrest citizens obeying their state laws.
The wager is that Holder’s announcement will come late Friday afternoon. Late Friday afternoon is when the White House makes announcements that they don’t want to get a lot of play during the news cycle. But whether that means good news or bad news for states with medical cannabis laws, don’t know.
But Montana has their own state announcement they’re awaiting.
It was no surprise to see indictments come down this week from the March raids, timed to the judge’s deliberations, just as the raids were timed to occur simultaneously with a vote in Senate Judiciary to table medical marijuana repeal. The efforts of the feds to pressure decision-making by our legislature and judiciary is off-the-charts shocking. They don’t even feel the need to be subtle. They are the source of the fear, scandal, and violence when it comes to medical marijuana in this state, not Montanans, whether one thinks all of them should have a card or not.
But we’ll get our ruling today.
What if the worst possibility came to pass (I don’t think it will) and the judge allowed the new law to go into effect?
What it would mean is a rough couple months, panicked patients, and a lot of people getting real quiet or out of town,
that is,
until we collect the signatures, put a stop to the law, and stare down the ignorant once more.

Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is basically an anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce apprehension, fear, uneasiness or worry by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing the associated anxiety. Unnecessary repetition of activities such as washing, cleaning, and hoarding during the day or being preoccupied with thoughts of coitus, violence, and religious ideologies as well as disgust of specific numbers are the main hints of a person suffering from OCD.
Treatment
OCD is a treatable disease. With adequate therapy and correct counseling by experienced psychiatrist and physicians, the intensity of the disease can be decreased in little time. Effective treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder are now easily available, and fresh researches are yielding new and improved therapies that can help people with OCD and other anxiety disorders lead productive, fulfilling lives.
Some doctors even say that Medical Marijuana (Cannabis) can also help in eliminating the disease. Dr. Breen of Southern California insisted that he has been successful in treating two patients with OCD via medical Marijuana. He shared, “Today I had two patients who have been successfully treating their symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder with medical marijuana. One was a 46-year-old man whose symptoms are primarily having 'to check things all the time.' He explained having to walk back to his car all the time to check his door locks etc. The second was an 18-year-old male who had the compulsion to try and touch the ceiling in a room. In both cases their symptoms were disruptive to their daily lives.
Amazingly both had been using cannabis with god results to control their symptoms."

Because South African authorities do not distinguish between hemp and the euphoric THC-laden "dagga" plant, its benefits as a super-sustainable building material have largely gone untapped. Until now - a tireless hemp advocate, Tony Budden joined forces with Dutch architect Erwin van der Weerd from Perfect Places to build South Africa's first seven-roomed hemp house in Noordhoek. The home is designed to showcase hemp's incredible potential as a building material and convince the government to remove obstacles for widespread commercial development of one of the most resilient, versatile, and fast-growing carbon sinks on earth.

Above, Dr. Burzynski and his cure with antineoplastons: http://burzynskimovie. com/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S81PXHwjMAQ
The first scene is heartbreaking!
(Update)
Science is knowledge that comes from trial and error, knowledge is a tool we can use to build and create solutions.
No matter how knowledgeable we are about something, as long as we keep looking in the wrong direction, our energy and time will be waisted, and a solution won't be found.
For example:
For so many years we thought the main cause of stomach ulcers to be stress and/or spicy food. This, until somebody rediscovered that the main cause was a bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori.
A Greek practitioner was actually the first one in 1958 to treat ulcers with antibiotics and approach this infection differently than anybody else. More than thirty years treating patients with medicines that only took care of symptoms, appalling isn't?
I stumbled upon Dr. Tullio Simoncini's possible cure to cancer, and could not believe how different and original his approach to this disease was and is. He thinks that cancer is a FUNGUS!
Let me make this clear now, I do not know if this cure actually works, if this theory is correct, what fascinates me about it, is his APPROACH just like in the example above regarding stomach ulcers.
I believe that the approach is more important than the thinking itself. It's where we direct our thinking that counts the most. All the thinking that comes after that, is just a consequence of that premise/direction assigned; nobody could explain this better than Aristotele.
It's syllogism or more exactly deductive reasoning.
Also, I would like to mention Einstein:
"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.",
and:
"To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science."
Said this, I, with the help of my team thought of putting together the main alternative theories and cures to cancer. We are presenting the ones that seem to have actually cured many people, that have many witnesses and approval from many experts.
We are presenting these with videos and at times we only explain its concepts.
After you watch and read about these alternative cures, we invite YOU to decode cancer. More precisely, we invite you to be inspired, and whether or not you have scientific knowledge or an educational background, we would like you to focus on common sense and your own creativity to deduct a conclusion.
Take all this information into account and try to find a thread that runs among these theories, some kind of unifying theory, a pattern, the one factor that connects these cures/theories together. Once that is discovered, assuming these cures work, we would steer science to look further into that and research upon it for an ultimate cure/solution to cancer.
We will send the conclusions that make most sense to the Doctors that came up with these theories in the hope to eradicate this terrible disease.
Open your mind, do not judge the correctness of any of these theories but instead its new perspectives. After all, that is how Einstein got to think of the Universe as no one else before.
We all need to focus on this if we want to solve the problems of our world.
This is where all cures and solutions lie.
Watch all other videos at the link, please suggest any other main alternative cures or important pieces of information.
Then, connect the dots and start decoding cancer!

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) will introduce legislation on Thursday to end the federal ban on marijuana and let the states decide whether to legalize it.
“The legislation would limit the federal government’s role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, allowing people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal,” according to the Marijuana Policy Project, which advocates for pot legalization. “The legislation is the first bill ever introduced in Congress to end federal marijuana prohibition.”
More than a dozen states allow the sale of medical marijuana, but the practice is not legal under federal law, leading to confusion and clashes between local and federal authorities.
In March, for example, DEA agents raided two medical marijuana dispensaries in West Hollywood, California, and 26 dispensaries in 13 cities across Montana.
This despite the Obama administration's announcement two years ago that it would not arrest or prosecute medical marijuana users or suppliers who are not violating local laws -- a reversal of the Bush administration's policy that federal drug laws should be enforced even in states that had legalized medical marijuana. Attorney General Eric Holder has said he will clarify the Justice Department's position.
The bill by Frank and Paul comes 40 years after President Richard Nixon first declared a war on drugs. Last week, to commemorate the anniversary, a group of former law enforcement officials unveiled a new report detailing the failures of the government's long battle against illegal drugs and denounces the Obama administration's current drug policies.
"Since President Nixon declared 'war on drugs' four decades ago, this failed policy has led to millions of arrests, a trillion dollars spent and countless lives lost, yet drugs today are more available than ever," said Norm Stamper, former chief of police in Seattle and a speaker for legalization-advocacy group Law Enforcement Against Prohibition.
"President Obama's drug officials keep saying they've ended the 'drug war,'" the LEAP member said. "But our report shows that's just not true."Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) will introduce legislation on... more

Elijah Wood plays a medical cannabis patient with a bawdy, pot-smoking dog named 'Wilfred.'
By David Downs
As the medical pot debate rages across the nation, it's no surprise that this week marks the debut of another national, weed-laced TV sitcom. But what may be surprising is how, unlike Weeds, this one appears to be both funny and accurate, and capable of furthering the nation's discussion of the topic.
The Lord of the Rings' blockbuster celeb Elijah Wood stars in the new medical marijuana-friendly Wilfred, premiering on the cable network FX on Thursday, June 23 at 10 p.m. According to Cheryl Shuman, the medical cannabis consultant to the show, Wilfred marks a new milestone in the rebranding of the movement. "The big thing Wilfred does is establish credibility," Shuman said, "and show how far we've come that a studio's willing to pay to make sure that depictions of medical marijuana are authentic."
In Wilfred, written and produced by Family Guy's David Zuckerman, Elijah Wood plays Ryan, a suicidal young man and medical pot patient whose life is saved by a surprise friendship with a talking dog. To everyone else, Wilfred, played by Jason Gann, looks like a lapdog, but to Wood, Wilfred is a six-foot-tall, 200-pound dude in a dog costume who smokes weed recreationally.

6/21/2011 by Jahan Marcu - Since 2001, Dr. Kirsten Muller-Vahl and colleagues have published research articles demonstrating the safety of Delta9-THC in patients with Tourette’s Syndrome. This is a disease characterized by involuntary movement and vocalizations (a.k.a. tics). In 2003, the authors showed that, “Delta9-THC causes neither acute nor long-term cognitive deficits” in patients suffering from Tourette’s.
Recently this group of clinical researchers published a Letter to the Editor of Psychiatry Research outlining their findings in a Tourette’s patient given 15mg of delta9-THC per day. The authors measured the patient’s driving ability with a computerized test and compared it to the patients performance with and without delta9-THC. The author’s state, “In comparison with the drug-free phase (of the treatment), there was a clear improvement in concentration and visual perception during THC therapy.”
The patient, a 42 year old truck driver referred to as Mr.H, first displayed symptoms of this disease at age 6. When he appeared at the clinic for this study he was suffering from multiple tics of the head, arm and leg: Not good symptoms to have for a truck driver. Furthermore, Mr.H’s medical history showed that all available drug treatments were ineffective including dopamine blocking agents, alpha-2 drugs, clonazepam, and terabenazine. Within 2 weeks of delta9-THC treatment Mr.H’s symptoms were reduced by 75%.

At a press conference at the National Press Club on Friday, representatives of Institute of the Black World, as well as Rev. Jesse Jackson, Ethan Nadelmann of the Drug Policy Alliance, and others met to look at the impact that our nation’s failed war on drugs has had on minorities. One of the ideas mentioned most frequently to eliminate some of the negative effects of the drug war was to remove criminal penalties for possession of small amounts of marijuana.
While this is not a very radical statement, and does not address the problems associated with maintaining criminalization of the marijuana market, it is definitely a step in the right direction. It was little surprising coming from Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan), who said he had never made such a statement before:

“It has something to do with something called marijuana. I believe it is a narcotic of some kind.”
So said congressman Rayburn to congressman Snell’s question: “What is this bill about?”
That was way back in the summer of 1937, when congress was being asked to essentially outlaw a drug they knew nothing about, marijuana. But realistically, marijuana had little to do with it. The real issue was non-drug industrial hemp.
Industrialists were like scarab beetles, rolling around this giant ball of profit protection, and they ran right over the domestic hemp industry. Hemp presented way too much competition, too much threat to entrenched and entrenching profits. Took a pretty big ball of dung, but the scarabs rolled it expertly, professionals. Except for several years of heavy production during WWII, under the feds’ “Hemp for Victory” campaign—which told the truth about hemp and helped us win the war...not a single acre of hemp has been legally grown in America since 1937. Seventy-four years and counting. That was one enormous ball of dung. The entire hemp-prohibition infamy could be called a dung deal, especially as related to the common good.

In her Laguna Canyon studio, Laguna Beach artist and designer Michelle Hutchinson proudly holds up a bikini she has created from hemp-based fabric. She excitedly explains why hemp material is so much better to use for a bikini than other fabrics.
"Because hemp is anti-microbial, it doesn't allow for bacterial growth," says Hutchinson. "It doesn't get 'funky' after a day at the beach. It's porous, so it dries more quickly on a clothes line or in a drier. This uses less energy. Every time you wash hemp, it gets softer. Feel how soft this is!"
Chris Boucher, Laguna Beach resident and owner of Hempsteads International, is on hand delivering fabric to Hutchinson in her studio. He supplies Hutchinson with material for her creations.
His company's products include T-shirts, fabrics, clothing, hemp protein, seeds, oil and body care items. He imports fair trade hemp fabrics from China, as well as products and clothing made from organically grown plants.
"This means," says Boucher, "that the plants are grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides, and that the fabric producers and clothing manufacturers receive a fair price."
Boucher got his start in the surf and beach clothing industry 15 years ago in Costa Mesa. Hutchinson has made clothing for festivals, including the Sawdust Festival, for the same amount of time. Both of them saw the beach apparel industry "vanish" from Southern California.
"Seventy per cent of the apparel industry," says Hutchinson, "has been outsourced to China."
