Word of advice for all you NBA stars... read your contracts and don't get on the moped when it says not to in your contract. The Warriors should punish this kid to the point where he won't do it again. Word of advice for all you NBA stars... read your contracts and don't get on the... more

Much controversy has risen over the past few months starting with Nelson’s benching of now former Warrior, Baron Davis in the fourth quarter of a game the Warriors needed to win. Since then, the Baron watch was in full swing and just when every Warrior fan began to feel confident that he’d return, B-Diddy pulled one of his quick fakes and bolted to L.A. to be around his Hollywood friends and work on his burgeoning movie career. Despite all of the calls for his head, Chris Mullin may have pulled off one of the best off seasons in Warriors history...Much controversy has risen over the past few months starting with Nelson’s... more

I'm not a Celtics fan, but watching a guy like KG reach his ultimate goal, and seeing how much it means to him, is truly inspiring.

The Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers to capture a record 17th NBA Championship. The win marks their first title since "The Big Three" Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish won it back in 1986. This time "The Big Three" for Boston came in the form of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Finals MVP Paul Pierce who teamed up to dismantle the Lakers team in the best of seven series that many people picked them to lose. The Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers to capture a record 17th NBA... more

Surprising only in that there were so few arrested after such a big win. Guess Boston fans really don't have much heart after all. I mean come on, 22, thats nothing. In a statement to the press Boston's Mayor called these Celtics fans "punks" and hopes that they will face tough punishments. As my friend Vince Vaughn said once, "Class, class, class". Right Gino!Surprising only in that there were so few arrested after such a big win. Guess Boston... more

Kobe Bryant scored 34 points and Los Angeles held off a furious rally by the Utah Jazz for a 108-105 victory Friday night, putting the Lakers in the Western Conference finals for the first time in four years.
The Jazz trailed by 19 at halftime and 16 at the end of the third quarter, but hit a flurry of 3-pointers to get within two points in the final minute. The Jazz had a chance to tie it at the end, but Mehmet Okur and Deron Williams missed 3-pointers in the closing seconds and Utah's season was over.
It was the only win by the visiting team in the series and kept the Lakers from having to host a Game 7 on Monday, instead giving Bryant a chance to rest his ailing back. The Lakers made 11 of 13 foul shots in the fourth quarter while barely holding off Utah's rally.
Bryant also had eight points and six assists. Pau Gasol added 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Lakers, who get to sit back and wait for the winner of the San Antonio-New Orleans series, which will be decided with a Game 7 on Monday. Kobe Bryant couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate his first MVP award.
He had 34 points, eight rebounds and six assists Wednesday night, and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Utah Jazz 120-110 to take a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals and remain the NBA's only unbeaten team in the postseason.
Bryant received his Most Valuable Player trophy from NBA commissioner David Stern in a brief ceremony before the game.
"I'm at a loss for words, I don't know what to say," Bryant said as the Staples Center crowd of 18,997 roared its approval and chanted M-V-P. "I love you guys so much. We're going to play until June. Let's get this party started."
The 29-year-old Bryant was a runaway winner, receiving 82 first-place votes and 1,100 points to far outdistance New Orleans' Chris Paul in the voting of 126 media members. The results were announced Tuesday.Kobe Bryant couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate his first MVP... more

Great article from today's LA Times about one of the greatest NBA players of all-time that has very little to do with his Hall of Fame career, and everything to do with his depth and character.
The leading scorer in the history of the National Basketball Assn. has become a leading historian and author. His sixth book, "On the Shoulders of Giants," is his most recent journey into the past of black America. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar now pursues his heritage with the same fervor he once pursued scoring records.
"I played basketball for 40 years of my life," he says, "but it never defined me."
Already, "On the Shoulders of Giants" has gone a long way toward doing that.
It is a book about the Harlem Rens, a black basketball team of the 1930s that Abdul-Jabbar uses to open a window to black America of the day.Great article from today's LA Times about one of the greatest NBA players of... more

All you Laker haters, enjoy this while you can. I'm just relieved its only 8 weeks as opposed to a torn ACL and a year of rehab. Whew!
Lakers center Andrew Bynum, a major factor in the team's surprising start, will miss at least eight weeks with a knee injury, the team announced today.
With the Lakers in Seattle for tonight's game, Bynum stayed behind to undergo an MRI, which showed he had suffered a subluxation of his left kneecap.
Lakers physician Steve Lombardo said Bynum would not need surgery and would begin rehabilitation immediately. All you Laker haters, enjoy this while you can. I'm just relieved its only 8... more

Who can tell me something about the Hornets that makes them a legit top ten team. Can anyone name three players on the team? I think the Celtics should be placed as number three behind PHO and Spurs. Lakers are well placed at their #7 spot and I expect they will rise in the next few weeks if their bench continues to contribute in big ways.

The sigh from one Chicago player's agent was rich with relief Thursday afternoon to hear Bulls general manager John Paxson declare that it is back to basketball for his club.
The Bulls are out of the running for Kobe Bryant. For now, anyway.
"I've never seen reports for any player like there's been for this thing, and I think it was important for John to do that," the agent said. "You can talk until you're blue in the face and say this isn't a distraction, but it's become one for both teams. The players hear everything, and they read everything. That's just the world we live in."
The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls have been negotiating for weeks, but have been unable to agree on a package that would work for the teams and Bryant, who has a no-trade clause and thus can veto any deal. Few Bulls have been spared speculation, and an opening-night loss to New Jersey on Wednesday seems to have convinced Paxson that he needed to end negotiations. The sigh from one Chicago player's agent was rich with relief Thursday afternoon... more
