Gene McCarthy proved that ordinary Americans could de-rail a war, President Johnson's Vietnam war policies.
In announcing that he would challenge President Johnson for renomination in 1968, Sen. McCarthy said, "I am concerned that this Administration seems to have set no limit to the price it is willing to pay for a military victory." McCarthy continued, "I am not for peace at any price...but for an honorable, rational and political solution" to this war.

Last night, Republican presidential candidates Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney sparred over the issue of immigration.
Romney was all, "Giuliani kept New York's status as a sanctuary city while he was mayor." (What!)
Then Giuliani was like, "Romney employs illegal immigrants at his home, running a 'sanctuary mansion.'" (Oh no he didn't!)
Then Giuliani like accused Romney of being "holier than thou." (Oh Heck no!)

Has anyone noticed that there is another movement in this country that is trying to keep Mr. Al Gore out of politics at any cost? This concept is mentioned time and again in articles lately that say that many in government fear Al Gores return to politics because they know that if in fact he does except the peoples challenge to run for president, then he would be unstoppable against any other candidate. Hillarys people shake when they hear talk of Gore running and the top Republican candidates dont even wish to speak of it. Is this a threat because he would reshape the government in ways that would change our country in fundamental ways? I know that both big business and those who run the government at present dont want to see a man of such high moral standards run for this office because they know that the laws that have been so unscrupulously passed to give them unprecedented powers would quickly be revoked. What I dont understand are the individuals who write glowing statements of Al Gores integrity, but say that he would lose all this integrity just by trying to right the wrongs that men of money and power have committed. These men of power have beat down the world with their wars and starved humanity of the very basics in life, and now that Al has shown the world this ultimate betrayal they tremble at the thought of his acquisition of the most powerful position in the world today, that of President of the United States. We should remember the last Presidential Race and the oh-so-underhanded ways that people, pretending to be individuals, lied about the Democratic candidate then, trying to convince this country that Kerrys service was disingenuous. I think what is going on is very similar, but since the people of the world cannot be convinced that Gore is disingenuous they say hes doing much better things for this world as a citizen who speaks from the side lines to the governments and corporations. They essentially are twisting common sense, saying that if Gore is effective as an individual that he somehow will be less effective by taking on the role of President. When in fact, if Mr. Gore listened to the call of the people, he could do all the things he has wanted to do throughout his life. We all recognize that any great task will take more than one man to accomplish, but if one man doesnt start this movement, and the world follow him then we are doomed to extinction. Great change has always started with one man brave enough to stand up and say something is very wrong then it spreads through the consciousness of the rest of humanity. Al Gore is the one man who has opened up the consciousness of the many and now he should lead the way to greater accomplishments. He has trained many others to do the work that he does now. He now needs to lead the world to a better way of life and doing business. I have many ideas as to how to help accomplish this and hopefully my next article will be able to cover that. First I thought I should speak to those who were confused or concerned by these nay-sayers who have tried to cloud the issues by pretending to be a friend of Al Gore. When in reality,.0 these people are overcome by the shear numbers of us that want to see this government and our world changed that they have reverted to underhanded tactics. They stroke him with one sentence and then dismiss his morality with the next. If any of you out there understand and have also seen this then please comment on it here, and please let others know that there really is another movement out there that is trying hard to keep Al under wraps so that they can continue their rein of terror and degradation upon this world. Peace and Power to the People! RUN AL RUN!!Has anyone noticed that there is another movement in this country that is trying to... more

Global warming should be the top priority issue of the 2008 Presidential campaign, so that there will be a mandate for major policy changes in the next Congress. The candidates announced so far are not taking global warming seriously. I have concluded that Al Gore must run for President, with global warming solutions as his top priority, so that he can lead the USA to make the necessary changes.Global warming should be the top priority issue of the 2008 Presidential campaign, so... more

Hillary is *not* inevitable if Al steps into the race. A new CBS Poll shows that there is no significant difference in support for Gore versus Clinton among Democratic primary voters (even though CBS has given their poll results a different spin).
Keep in mind that in the CBS Poll, 456 interviews were conducted with Democratic primary voters. The margin of error for this subgroup is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
"When former Vice President Al Gore, who has not entered the race, is added as a choice for the Democratic nomination, he emerges as a serious contender. Gore garners support of 32 percent of Democratic primary voters, while Clinton gets 37 percent, Obama 16 percent, and Edwards 7 percent."!
Given that the MOE is 5% and Gore and Clinton differ by only 5%, then this poll does not demonstrate a statistically significant difference in support for Gore v. Clinton.
IMO, if he declared his candidacy, his numbers would rise drawing voters from Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. Why? If he declares now or early next year, then his views on all issues - climate crisis, war, health care, etcetera - would get exposure and he would attract more voters. Right now most people aren't aware of his views. Also, if he declared his candidacy and announced up front that Obama or Edwards would be his VP - his ratings would rise dramatically.
Meanwhile over at DraftGore.com the number of signatures is nearing 220,000

And over at Democracy for America Gore has captured over 27% of the votes as a write-in candidate - go vote for Al !
