We hear a lot in press regarding cannabis and its effects on the human body.
"In the red corner" we have the hardened cannabis users who won't be told anything different. They've used cannabis for many years, with seemingly little or no ill-effect. They smoke pot, and they like it a lot, and nothing the government is going to say is going to change that.
Meanwhile in "the blue corner", we have the anti-cannabis brigade, with their tales of cannabis woe. Stories as published by the popular press, such as the Daily Mail for instance, who's editor Paul Dacre has made cannabis his own personal mission-in-life.
If this group is to be believed, cannabis is the root cause of a multitude of ailments including international terrorism. Regardless of the fact cannabis is now a prescribed drug in many global regions, politicians (and news editors) in Europe are still loath to even reference the fact this practice takes place. But it does!
They prefer instead, to concentrate on the 'party line', whichever party they are loyal too. And not giving cannabis a shred of credibility for being a truly beneficial plant which has never killed a single person.
We're not hear to sway you one way or another, but here are some interesting facts which you may enjoy reading. Rest assured there are no lies here. No spin doctoring. Just facts, whether you like them or not.

Dr. Phillip Leveque has spent his life as a Combat Infantryman, Physician, Toxicologist and Pharmacologist.
http://pr.cannazine.co.uk : The argument for the use of raw cannabis as a medical drug has been rumbling on for literally decades, but successive governments have stuck by their guns, preferring to arrest and incarcerate legitimate cannabis using patients who may be suffering from a multitude of illnesses. Ailments which doctors in other countries such as Holland, the US, Germany, Belgium and Portugal to name only 5, are only to happy to sign a prescription allowing the patient to use cannabis to relieve their condition and symptoms.
Dr Phillip "Dogface" Leveque
According to a practicing physician based in Oregon in the US, a state which legalised cannabis use for medicinal purposes over 9 years ago, "marijuana is less dangerous and addictive than a latte from Starbucks". Which flies in the face of so called "medical experts" and their opinions here in the UK. So who's right and who's telling lies?

UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown yesterday told millions of families hit by the soaring costs of running a car in the United Kingdom, or running a domestic heating or cooking system in rural regions, that high oil prices were a long-term global issue that could not be tackled by Britain alone, but some disagree.
Chancellor Alistair Darling has once again assured voters he will "take another look" at a proposed 2p fuel price rise which is set to come into being from October 2008, but seriously is 2p enough? Is NOT increasing the price of fuel the bait needed to win back a million (or two) voters? Hardly.
Only a couple of days ago, members of the UK road haulage industry threatened to blockade oil refineries and ports unless the government managed to find a 20p-25p essential user rebate for the transport sector in seven days. An industry which has borne the brunt of the last decade and of Labour rule has decided clearly enough is enough.
Isn't it about time we as a nation looked to break our dependency on the petroleum industry, by investigating the other alternatives? There are a few.

A Film By Christian Laurette - After a serious head injury in 1997, Rick Simpson sought relief from his medical condition through the use of medicinal hemp oil. When Rick discovered that the hemp oil (with its high concentration of T.H.C.) cured cancers and other illnesses, he tried to share it with as many people as he could free of charge - curing and controlling literally hundreds of people's illnesses... but when the story went public, the long arm of the law snatched the medicine - leaving potentially thousands of people without their cancer treatments - and leaving Rick with unconsitutional charges of possessing and trafficking marijuana!
Canada is in the middle of a CANCER EPIDEMIC! Meet the people who were not allowed to testify on Rick's behalf at the Supreme Court of Canada's Infamous Rick Simpson Trial on September 10, 2007... INCLUDING A MAN WHO WAS CURED OF TERMINAL CANCER USING HEMP OIL!

Obama does not endorse legalization, but he does pledge to leave states to decide their own policy on medical marijuana and to not federally prosecute doctors and patients. Many states currently allow medicinal marijuana, but often those who have certified proscriptions or permits for growing, are still arrested by federal agents. It seems more important to focus our resources on real issues rather than on stopping old ladies who find solace for their glaucoma in THC.Obama does not endorse legalization, but he does pledge to leave states to decide... more

William F. Buckley, Jr., deployed his astute mind to raise classical conservatism to the center of American political discourse. In 1955, he founded the influential conservative magazine, The National Review, and later hosted Firing Line, one of the country's longest-running television programs.
He rose to prominence during a period in American history when there was a whole generation of talented writers who were fascinated by political themes, authors such as Norman Mailer, Truman Capote, Gore Vidal, William Styron and James Baldwin. Like them, he attracted controversy like a magnet.
People came to view his life and escapades as a kind of art form, from his racing through New York City streets on a motorcycle, to his then startling opinions like favoring the decriminalization of marijuana. In 1965, Mr. Buckley made an exceedingly unrealistic run for mayor of New York. When asked what he would do if he won, he answered, “Demand a recount.” He was often described as the liberals’ favorite conservative.

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE â The effort to reduce marijuana penalties in New Hampshire took a step forward in the legislature today, as a subcommittee of the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee approved HB 1623 in a 3-1 vote.
Sponsored by Reps. Jeffrey Fontas (D-Nashua), Andrew Edwards (D-Nashua) and Charles Weed (D-Keene), HB 1623 would reduce the penalty for possessing small amounts of marijuana from a class A misdemeanor to a violation punishable by a maximum fine of $200.
"Today's vote reflects a growing consensus among legislators that New Hampshire's penalties for simple marijuana possession are unnecessarily harsh," explained Matt Simon, executive director of the New Hampshire Coalition for Common Sense Marijuana Policy. "These representatives have taken an honest look at the facts, and they've agreed to support punishments which come closer to fitting the offense."
After over an hour of discussion, which included supporters and opponents of the bill, legislators chose to amend the amount covered by the legislation from 1.25 ounces to .25 ounces. The subcommittee also corrected the drafting error that would have removed penalties for selling marijuana in small amounts. This error had been identified at the bill's Jan. 22 hearing by Karin Eckel of the Attorney General's office. It has been clear throughout the process that the sponsors did not intend to remove penalties for selling marijuana.
Fontas, who serves on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, was accepting of the result.
"Compromise is the instrument of politics," he said following the subcommittee work session. "Ultimately the process worked, and the conversation continues."
Rep. John Tholl (R-Whitefield), a police chief in the town of Dalton, chaired the subcommittee and voted in favor. Reps. David Welch (R-Kingston) and Ellen Neilsen (D-Claremont) also voted in favor, with Rep. Delmar Burridge (D-Keene) opposed.
In voicing his vote of opposition, Burridge said "I'm Nancy Reagan: 'Just Say No.'" House Subcommittee Passes Marijuana Reform Bill

If you live under a rock, with no T.V., computer or radio, then you probably don't know our nations stance on marijuana reform. It's become such a joke. State against Federal. In Southern California, it's practically legal. It's as easy to get a medical marijuana card, as it is to get a library card. Maybe a little easier even! Then in states like TX, you can be thrown in jail for a long time for having just a dirty pipe. How has it come to this? When the majority of American citizens don't have a problem with this plant, yes it is just a plant, why does our goverenment still feel like it needs to prosicute to the fullest extent? Money?
Americans are afraid of big brother. We don't want to be on the FBI's watch list for speaking out. We don't want to join NORML, for fear of looking like a "hippie". What's next, and what will it take? I think that's what everyone is waiting for. You can't just defend marijuana for "medical" purposes. That's all anyone talks about. In 25 years of this counter culture lifestyle, I have seen smokers of all kinds. Businessmen, Doctors, Lawyers, Police, Trash men, mothers, fathers, grandparents, social workers, teachers, musicians, actors, nurses, activists, and the list goes on. But only a handfull of medical users. Doesn't that speak very loud? We need to quit hiding behind excuses for why marijuana should be legal for medical purposes. Speak out.
