In his recent three-day “Puppet Master” series, Glenn Beck accused George Soros, prominent Jewish philanthropist and Holocaust survivor, of “helping send the Jews to the death camps” while seeming to draw his material straight from the anti-Semitic forgery, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion."
I am outraged. I would like to add my name to the message below:
Dear Mr. Rupert Murdoch,
I am writing to express my outrage at the recent Fox News special "The Puppet Master." I agree with Abe Foxman's recent characterization of Glenn Beck's attack on George Soros as "not only offensive, but horrific, over-the-top, and out-of-line." On his show on November 9, Mr. Beck stated that "he would be fired" if he "started leveling baseless charges that can't be backed up." Given his false accusation that Mr. Soros "help[ed] send the Jews to the death camps," I hope you will act on Mr. Beck's prediction and end his tenure at Fox News.
Starting on November 9, Fox News Host Glenn Beck evoked anti-Semitic stereotypes to attack prominent Jewish philanthropist and Holocaust survivor George Soros. In his three-day “Puppet Master” series, Mr. Beck accused Soros of “helping send the Jews to the death camps” while seeming to draw his material straight from the anti-Semitic forgery, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Jewish Funds for Justice is fighting back against Beck's outrageous accusations and insinuations with a multifaceted campaign to get Beck's poison off the air.
If you share our outrage, we hope you will join us in taking action. We have set up three things you can do right now.
1. Sign a petition to Rupert Murdoch, calling on him to end Glenn Beck’s tenure at Fox News.
2. Share widely the powerful new video above that shows how Beck’s descriptions of George Soros mirror language from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and his images of Soros as “Puppet Master” seem drawn from images on White Supremacist websites.
3. Sign a petition to ADL National Director Abe Foxman, thanking him for his strong statement
Mr. Beck's behavior last week makes a mockery of Fox News’ repeated assurances to Jewish leaders that there was, in the words of Fox News executive and Glenn Beck producer Joel Cheatwood, a “unanimous understanding and agreement that the ultimate sensitivity must be exercised when referencing the Holocaust and they events leading up to it.” Falsely accusing a Holocaust survivor of “helping send the Jews to the death camps,” and then attacking him using anti-Semitic language and imagery, demonstrates no sensitivity whatsoever.
Our campaign is generating lots of great press coverage and comments from leaders across the political spectrum expressing outrage with Glenn Beck's attacks on George Soros.

Hebrew University has received a surprise donation of more than $100,000 from an unexpected benefactor — a woman who survived the Nazi Holocaust and appeared to be destitute, a university official said Sunday.
Upon her death two years ago, a homeless Holocaust survivor living on the streets of New York City willed the gift to the university. The Jewish woman lived out of a shopping cart in Manhattan and had no known relatives, said Yefet Ozery, Hebrew University's director of development and public relations.
"She lived as a very poor woman. And when she died at the age of 92, it was discovered she had accumulated close to $300,000," Ozery said.
The university first learned about the gift three months ago but did not receive the money until this week. It will be used to fund scholarships for medical research students, according to the woman's wishes, Ozery said, refusing to disclose her name. The story was first reported by The Jerusalem Post daily.
Not much is known about the woman, who had no known connection to the university. She left the other half of her savings to various causes and beneficiaries, though Ozery said it is unknown how she amassed the small fortune.
"No one knows where she got it from. But she probably lived penny to penny. She probably saved it to do good for the world and for the Jewish people," Ozery said.Hebrew University has received a surprise donation of more than $100,000 from an... more

The Palestinian youths from a tough West Bank refugee camp stood facing the elderly Holocaust survivors on Wednesday, appearing somewhat defiant in a teenage sort of way. Then they began to sing.
The choir burst into songs for peace, bringing surprised smiles from the audience. But the event had another twist: Most of the Holocaust survivors did not know the youths were Palestinians from the West Bank, a rare sight in Israel these days. And the youths had no idea they were performing for people who lived through Nazi genocide - or even what the Holocaust was.The Palestinian youths from a tough West Bank refugee camp stood facing the elderly... more

It took Holocaust survivor Bernie Marks 66 years to realize his father's and grandfathers' dreams, but Saturday he honored them - and Jews worldwide - by becoming a bar mitzvah, which means "Son of the Commandment."
Marks spent World War II in a Jewish ghetto in Lodz, Poland and then in Auschwitz - where his mother and brother were killed - and Dachau. Marks and his father worked in several of Dachau's brutal slave labor camps until they were liberated by U.S. troops on Aprill 27, 1945.
Marks said he felt great after Saturday's symbolic Jewish passage into manhood. "I have thought about it and thought about it and sometimes it was not the right time and when it was the right time it was the wrong place," he said. "The high point for me was to be able to chant the Torah and Haftarah (a selection of writings from the Prophets) the way my father Josef and grandfather Jakub Mendel Makowski wanted me to.I was able to live long enough to accomplish my goal. I have a feeling of relief that God has watched over me."
As he chanted, Marks also thought of his father, "who was my guardian angel for 5 1/2 years of hell. He saved my life again and again - in Auschwitz by telling the guards I was five years older than I was and showing them my work permit from the Lodz ghetto; then bringing me a cup of hot water every night when I had Typhoid fever."
Rabbi Mona Alfi, who presided, noted "God did take a little bit longer, but this is your day. This is your story on redemption, your story of hope, your story of rebirth, of coming out of the fires more brave and more ready to embrace life. It is truly never too late to accomplish your dreams and grab on to life!"
After Marks completed his moving ceremony, Dr. Jeff Rabinovitz, president of the B'nai Israel Brotherhood, told him: "You obviously are a man - today you are a mench!"It took Holocaust survivor Bernie Marks 66 years to realize his father's and... more

This inspiring story is about finding laughter in the last place you would think. In 1944, Werner Reich was a teenager in the Nazi death camp known as Auschwitz-Birkenau, when the infamous Josef Mengele, "The Angel of Death," randomly "selected" 96 boys out of 5,000, saving them from the gas chamber. Werner was one of the surviving "Birkenau Boys" spared, it seems, because of a bad joke. Thank you to my friend Mikal Reich for introducing me to his courageous father who will do anything for a laugh. Today, Werner is a magician (a profession he learned in Auschwitz) and speaks to schoolchildren in hopes the Holocaust will never happen again. This inspiring story is about finding laughter in the last place you would think. In 1944, as a teenager in the Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, my friend Werner Reich shared his bunk with a magician named, "Levine". By a remarkable coincidence, when "The Great Nivelli" (Levine spelled backwards), who was known as the "Magician of the Holocaust", died in 1972 in New York. Werner recognized his tattoo as being that of the man who taught him magic. This is a companion piece to our IFP/Current TV winning pod now on air, Telling Jokes In Auschwitz. In 1944, as a teenager in the Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, my friend Werner... more
