"Fashion wisdom has it that in bad economies, clothes tend toward the staid, and in boom times "the fantasy is to look downbeat and poor," said Wolfe, citing the grunge-loving '90s as an example. "And now that a tough economy is the reality, we want to look fun." Suddenly, we're living the old adage of hemlines rising and lipstick colors getting brighter when the economy tanks.""Fashion wisdom has it that in bad economies, clothes tend toward the staid, and in... more

Release your inner-child with Stella McCartney's new ad campaign for Autumn/Winter '09-'10. McCartney has been known to be very pro-animal rights with her use of animal-friendly materials, so her ads capture the innocence of children and youth as well as animals, by using Disney's Bambi cartoons in the shoot. Shot by Ryan McGinley, the photo shoot took place in the woods of Worcherstershire to give a realistic scene mixed with the illustrated images.Release your inner-child with Stella McCartney's new ad campaign for Autumn/Winter... more

Even though they've been dating only for one year, the ex-Beatles and his actual girlfriend Nancy Shevell could get married any time now soon, as Nancy had recently separated from her husband over 20 years.
And things turn out even better as Paul's friends and family seemed to adore her, especially daughter Stella McCartney, who had openly shown her total disagreement for her father's marriage with Heather Mills.
Nancy, who knew Sir Paul for more then 30 years came from a wealthy East Coast background, but also became wealthy on her own clearing any doubt that she is after McCartney's money.

Working out is not glamorous. You pull weird faces, you sweat, you breathe heavily, your face turns red. And most of the time you're doing it all in a grubby pair of trackies and a baggy t-shirt. So Stella McCartney made a line of work out clothes for Adidas that will give you least a few cute points back. The only thing I'd say isn't perfect about these is that they're clearly made for the gym bunny with the gym buddy body. And for a lot of ladies, the reason we go to the gym is because we don't have that bod yet. So maybe the baggy trackies aren't such a bad thing after all? What's your take?Working out is not glamorous. You pull weird faces, you sweat, you breathe heavily,... more

UK fashionistas were out in full force last night to celebrate the British Style Awards in London. Thandie Newton, who loves a good fashion party, was there, along with an unusually sophisticated looking Kelly Osbourne and Lily Allen, in a dress by her date Giles Deacon. It was a big night for pregnant Stella McCartney, who won Designer of the Year, while Agyness Deyn was crowned Model of the Year. Savannah Miller represented Twenty8Twelve, while Sienna vacations with Rhys in Mexico City. UK fashionistas were out in full force last night to celebrate the British Style... more

Stella McCartney is bringing a "green" collection exclusively to Barneys New York.
The specialty retailer asked the designer, who has famously renounced meat and leather, to create the line. Barneys in February began an initiative to introduce eco-friendly and ethically produced products into its stores with the launch of the Loomstate for Barneys collection in 12 Co-op units.
WWD reports on Barneys continued eco-obsession, and their new exclusive collection by Stella McCartney.
But maybe more interesting than the story's newsy bits - Phillip Lim will also make organic dresses, Barneys will soon stock bamboo skateboards - is the assessment about Stella's line, from fashion director Julie Gilhart:
"It does not read organic in any way, shape or form."
If Stella's new line looks like her normal clothing, that's good news for shoppers, but some new issues do arise:
Are organic garments as durable as synthetically made ones, or will they self destruct - much like some of Stella's very expensive handbags?
And is eco-fashion really going to fix anything? Or is it too late (and too naive) to think that saving the world can happen with some earnestly sewn jeans?Stella McCartney is bringing a "green" collection exclusively to Barneys New York.... more
