Microsoft tried to keep the Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 Elite bundle on the low until X10, but that was uncovered a couple of days ago. Now the homies over at Arstechnica confirm that Splinter Cell Conviction is getting the same elite bundle treatment. The Splinter Cell Conviction bundle will release on April 13, 2010 and comes in all black with 2 controllers, a 250 GB hard drive, a headset, and the Splinter Cell game (no design on the console itself).Microsoft tried to keep the Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 Elite bundle on the low until... more

Now that the Xbox 360 Elite has officially dropped in price and killed off the Pro, it was only a matter of time before there'd be a new rumor to pin on Microsoft's console. Amazon Germany, who previously listed the PlayStation 3 Slim a good 20 days before the official debut (it still has the same Amazon Stock Identification Number as it did when leaked), has gone ahead and posted a new Xbox 360 model, ASIN in tow, with a 250GB HDD, two wireless controllers, and Forza Motorsport 3.
Price is listed at 279 euros ($397), a good 30 euros over the current Elite price. No release date, but Forza 3 isn't due out until at least October 23rd so we'd say you got awhile to wait and see if this pans out.
Any chance we can get a built-in WiFi adapter along with that extra storage space?

With how widespread the rumblings were of a price drop, (not to mention multiple sales flyer scans) it came with no surprise today when Microsoft announced that the rumors were indeed true: the Xbox 360 will be getting a price cut in both the States and the UK.

Not that we had any doubt but Microsoft has made it official: Xbox 360 price cuts are coming Friday.
The entry-level Arcade will remain at $200 while the top end Elite will drop to $300 from $400. The mid-range Pro (reduced to $250 from $300) will be phased out just as soon a they can eliminate stock.
As a footnote to the announcement, Microsoft wants to remove all doubt about future project natal compatibility by saying it, "will work with every Xbox 360 sold today and tomorrow."
So what's it going to be kids, PS3 Slim or Xbox 360? Blu-ray or Netflix? Not that we had any doubt but Microsoft has made it official: Xbox 360 price cuts are... more

Can't say we're all that surprised given other sightings, but one anonymous tipster has sent us pics from a local Walmart of the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite in a shiny white package with a back-of-box chart that neglects to mention the Pro models, essentially striking it from the records. It's still scanning at $399 for now, but having seen multiple retailers' print flyers -- including Walmart's own -- quoting $299, the computers very well may be updating just after some official Microsoft announcement, which wouldn't surprise us at all if it happen sometime this week, just ahead of the PS3 Slim launch. Peruse the pics in higher-res format below.
Update: As several readers have pointed out, the back-of-box chart shows the Elite as having standard, presumably non-HD cables only, and there's no mention of bundled HDMI cables anywhere. Also of note is the wording for Xbox Live has changed from "Silver Membership" to "Free." Before you go thinking the premium Gold membership is going away, however, there's a superscript '4,' and if it's like the older box, it leads to a longer explanation on the Xbox Live's tiered plans -- not to mention there's an ad for buying into XBL Gold just under the chart. Can't say we're all that surprised given other sightings, but one anonymous... more

This is an image of the new Xbox 360 Arcade (on the right) and the older and original Xbox 360 Arcade box (on the left, duh). As you can see by the new box it appears to not list the Xbox 360 Pro Version. Blasphemy!
Does this mean that Pro is not going to produced anymore? Is Microsoft slowly trying to phase out the Pro version and force the larger Elite brother onto gamers? This begs the question, will the Xbox Elite become the standard Xbox 360 console and drop in price? This would be a good move on Microsoft’s part, especially with the impending launch of the Ps3 Slim. This is an image of the new Xbox 360 Arcade (on the right) and the older and original... more
