Not only will High Fructose Corn Syrup make you fat while destroying your liver, it is also really bad for the environment. The genetically modified corn used to produce HFCS requires more pesticides and chemical fertilizers than natural corn. It is also not a crop that is rotated, which severely depletes top soil quality.
Once you've decided to eliminate HFCS from your diet, label reading becomes essential. HFCS creeps into food you would not expect to see it, like ketchup and yogurt. Start writing manufacturers, such as Heinz, and tell them you no longer purchase their products because they contain high-fructose corn syrup.
Remember, the revolutionary war started with a boycott of tea. Not only will High Fructose Corn Syrup make you fat while destroying your liver, it is... more

Despite a corn biodiversity unparalleled in the world, Mexico bowed down to companies like Monsanto, allowing genetically modified corn to be grown. The risks are plentiful for a diverse systems such as Mexico's. Naturally occurring corn can be "genetically polluted" by the new genetically modified strains permanently destroying the original.
Furthermore, "Transgenic crops are not safe, and we will lose our sovereignty, because the GM seeds belong to just a few transnational corporations," Miguel Colunga, leader of the Democratic Campesino Front of Chihuahua, a state in northern Mexico said.
IPS reports, "Using seeds patented by companies like Monsanto forces farmers to buy seed every planting season, paying the corporations each time, and puts an end to thousands of years of the traditional practice of saving the best seeds from the harvest to use for the next sowing. "
Mexicans and environmentalists have been fighting Monsanto and other U.S. based companies for three years.
Not only is the environment in danger, but humans who consume the transgenic food put themselves at risk, "transgenic MON-863 maize, belonging to Monsanto, which was authorized for human consumption in Mexico, harmed rats in experiments, according to a confidential report by the company itself which was made public in 2005 by a court order."Despite a corn biodiversity unparalleled in the world, Mexico bowed down to companies... more

Cry no more! Science is here to help!
Scientists in New Zealand and Japan have created a "tear-free" onion using biotechnology to switch off the gene behind the enzyme that makes us cry.
My guess is that now the onion will probably end up causing loose stool or some other exciting and embarrassing side effect. Cry no more! Science is here to help!

The EU is concerned about letting in GMO, biofuels, and other environmental disasters into their borders. The US is upset and blames the EU of using the environment for protectionism. The French President would like to put a trade levy against nations outside the the Kyoto Protocol.

Seventh Generations business motto just about says it all:
"In Every Deliberation We Must Consider
The Impact of Our Decisions On The
Next Seven Generations."
From the Great Law of the Iroquois Confederacy
Look for products that have a high recycled content, including high post-consumer content. Post-consumer fibers are recovered from paper that was previously used by consumers and would otherwise have been dumped into a landfill or an incinerator.
I think that everything they make is also of the highest quality.
Seventh Generation diapers are nice if you need to use a disposable diaper, however, they do contain gel. I would recommend there cleaning products as well, They're great for sensitive people.Seventh Generations business motto just about says it all:

But next spring, for the first time, Mr. Green intends to plant beets genetically engineered to withstand Monsantos powerful Roundup herbicide. The Roundup will destroy the weeds but leave his crop unscathed, potentially saving him thousands of dollars in tractor fuel and labor.
For Mr. Green and many other beet farmers, it is technology too long delayed. And the engineered beets could pave the way for the eventual planting of other biotech crops like wheat, rice and potatoes, which were also stalled on the launching pad.

Now that biologists in Oregon have reported using cloning to produce a monkey embryo and extract stem cells, it looks more plausible than before that a human embryo will be cloned and that, some day, a cloned human will be born. But not necessarily on this side of the Pacific.
American and European researchers have made most of the progress so far in biotechnology. Yet they still face one very large obstacle God, as defined by some Western religions. Now that biologists in Oregon have reported using cloning to produce a monkey embryo... more

European Union environmental officials have determined that two kinds of genetically modified corn could harm butterflies, affect food chains and disturb life in rivers and streams, and they have proposed a ban on the sale of the seeds, which are made by DuPont Pioneer, Dow Agrosciences and Syngenta.
Banning the applications for corn crops also would mark a bold new step for European environmental authorities, who are already aggressively pursuing regulations on emissions from cars and aircraft, setting it at odds with the United States and angering industries.
These products have been grown in the U.S. and other countries for years, said Stephen Norton, a spokesman for the United States trade representative. We are not aware of any other case when a product has been rejected after having been reviewed and determined safe by European food safety authorities, he said.

Go EU, here in the US we're idiots right now. We basically can't be trusted at this point in time. On anything, anywhere. Sad to say it's true. Please ignore our politicians and corporations telling of the safety of GMOs.
It doesn't have to be this way folks. Vote.
I gave Dennis Kucinich $100 tooday (Nov. 23 2007), even though I had to charge it. I think he is our best hope. https://services.myngp.com/ngponlineservices/contribution.aspx?X=aDlDFFT9TMES%2bYWkFTgFU7%2b1iNzpkFnd
I'm going to donate $100 to John Edwards too, he is a solid choice.

Won't you consider doing the same?

Warning: Public health officials have determined that not breast-feeding may be hazardous to your baby's health.
"Just like it's risky to smoke during pregnancy, it's risky not to breast-feed after," said Suzanne Haynes, senior scientific adviser to the Office on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services. "The whole notion of talking about risk is new in this field, but it's the only field of public health, except perhaps physical activity, where there is never talk about the risk."

About 70% of the food we eat contains genetically modified ingredients and is not labeled. The biotechnology industry is spending $50 million a year to convince us that this technology is our only hope for feeding the world and saving the environment. Family farmers are disappearing at an astonishing rate as people continue to go hungry both here and abroad.
Using hilarious and disturbing archival footage and featuring interviews with farmers, scientists, government officials and activists, FED UP! presents an entertaining, informative and compelling overview of our food production system from the Green Revolution to the Biotech Revolution and what we can do about it.
