"The 10-year-old boy who accidentally started one of the worst California wildfires last month could face stern consequences, should prosecutors decide to bring charges. Though too young to be charged as an adult, the boy could still face millions of dollars in fines, removal from his home and possible detention as a ward of the state. For now the boy's fate and that of his parents, who would be partially liable for any restitution payments he would have to pay rests with Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley. His office told TIME he has not yet decided how to proceed. "The matter is under review," spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons told TIME on Monday. 'No decision has been made.'

When it comes to disasters, no one does it better than California. So writes The Times of London in a poke at the massages, acupuncture, stress counselling, and lattes offered to wildfire refugees in San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium this week.
The article makes an excellent point in contrasting the care offered during natural disasters along southern California's gold coast with one of the poorest parts of the country any "massages" in the New Orleans' Superdome after Hurricane Katrina's devastation were likely taken at gunpoint.

I think that the hot dog industry should capitalize on the wildfires. I mean it is summer there all the time backyard barbeques must get played out after awhile. Heres their opportunity to make barbeques in california popular again, everyone could be cookin dogs, brats, sausages whatever. Get out the kiss the cook apron and throw the slip and slide in the yard. Grab the radio, play some jams and drink some brews. We don't need no water let the mother burn (as long as were cookin dogs). This is the silver lining for it all. Make the best of it.
