Rupert Murdoch has been talking about charging for content of his newspaper websites & he's now taking this a further step by threatening to take his content from search engines like Google to stop it from being indexed.
In an interview with Sky News in Australia, the News Corporation boss claimed that content aggregators steal content from publishers – describing them as "kleptomaniacs" and "plagiarists".
He hinted that he may also sue the BBC and said "And anyway, if you look at them, most of their stuff is stolen from the newspapers now, and we’ll be suing them for copyright.
“They will have to spend a lot more money on a lot more reporters to cover the world when they can’t steal from newspapers.”
Boingboing suggest this is merely fighting talk & conclude "Good luck with that, Rupert. have a delightful, Howard-Hughesian dotage, acting out a crazed, Moby-Dick dumbshow against the Internet, hoping that the world's politics and economies will reform themselves to suit your fevered imaginings. This is how history will remember you."
Do you think he can take on the might of Google or even successfully sue the BBC?

I am grateful to Mr. Don Harkins the editor of THE IDAHO OBSERVER, (USA) and her associates Ms. Anne Wilder Chamberlain to help me prepare my story.
The following short note comes from them:-
KHALID
When we first began corresponding with Khalid Awan in 2007, we had no idea why he was serving time in U.S federal prison. We soon discovered Awan was one of the first of thousands of Muslims taken prisoner in the post-9/11 U.S "terror War". As the story began unfolding in our letters, we began to realize that this honest, humble and sincere man was not only innocent, but the ongoing injustice being done to him provides critical insight into the mindless, mean-spirited, bureaucratic-yes-men idiocy fueling the illegal U.S. "War on Terror" (and just about everything else that is going wrong in this country). At our insistence, Awan wrote his story and supplied us with whatever documents we requested. And now, after three months of cooperative efforts, the story of Khalid Awan can be told. We have come to know Awan as a peaceful man engaged in peaceful work, who has been wrongfully accused, detained and repeatedly convicted of crimes he did not commit because he was a Muslim with international connections and an office in New York on 9/11. Anyone who might of the Muslim belief, especially a person raised overseas who has difficulty understanding our language and our corrupt judicial system, can be arrested and detained indefinitely in this country, certainly without a trial before a jury of his peers. Khalid is one of these Muslims.
We present this to you in faith that you will realize a deeper understanding of the levels of complicity necessary for the "land of free" to tolerate the phony war on terror year after year and in hope that Awan --- and all the other million or more political prisoners being held by this country---will one day be reunited with their families.
(Thanks from the bottom of my heart to you, Mr. Don Harkin and Ms. Anne W. Chaimberlain for your devoted, caring attention in helping me expose my plight and injustices being suffered by myself and others. Your humanitarian devotion, on-going help and attitude truly an inspiration to me in my life!)
The founders of Google are celebrating the 11th founding year of their search engine.
Fans of the search engine site Google were mighty confused when they were met with spelling containing two L’s. For those that couldn’t figure it out Sunday September 27th is Google’s 11th birthday. The search engine company was founded back in September 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
Google is known for changing its logo on various holidays and providing interesting links that relate to the topic. On their tenth birthday a cupcake replaced one of the “O’s” in Google.
Its been difficult to pin point their exact birth date some days have been noted as September 2nd and 7th but this time they are celebrating at the very end of the month. According to ABC News even they’ve forgotten the details saying “Google opened its doors in September 1998. The exact date when we celebrate our birthday has moved around over the years, depending on when people feel like having cake.”The founders of Google are celebrating the 11th founding year of their search engine.... more

Facebook now has more than 300 million users, making it the world's most popular social networking site.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder, announced the news in a blog post, and confirmed that the company was now cash-flow positive, generating revenue independently of third-party investment and funding.
"Facebook now serves 300 million people across the world. It's a large number, but the way we think about this is that we're just getting started on our goal of connecting everyone," wrote Zuckerberg.
"We're also succeeding at building Facebook in a sustainable way. Earlier this year, we said we expected to be cash flow positive sometime in 2010, and I'm pleased to share that we achieved this milestone last quarter. This is important to us because it sets Facebook up to be a strong, independent service for the long term."Facebook now has more than 300 million users, making it the world's most popular... more

I have a suggestion for other countries that are getting a bit weary of the American military presence on their soil: cash in now, before it's too late. Either up the ante or tell the Americans to go home. I encourage this behavior because I'm convinced that the U.S. Empire of Bases will soon enough bankrupt our country, and so -- on the analogy of a financial bubble or a pyramid scheme -- if you're an investor, it's better to get your money out while you still canAmerica's Praetorian Guard Is Slowly Crumbling
