CNN contributor Dana Loesch: Women ‘get raped’ for supporting the left

CNN contributor and blogger Dana Loesch said Monday at the Tea Party Tax Day rally in Chicago that women “get raped” for supporting liberals and progressives like the “Occupy Wall Street” movement.

“What did women receive for supporting the left?” she asked the crowd. “You’ve seen it here with your Occupy movement, haven’t you? They get raped.”

“This man on my shirt had a message that I think needs to be reiterated since it keeps happening,” Loesch said, wearing a shirt picturing the late Andrew Breitbart. “Stop raping people! Behave yourselves!”

At the Conservative Political Action Conference in February, Breitbart angrily confronted a group of “Occupy” protesters. He called them “freaks and animals,” and told them to “stop raping people.”

His tirade made reference to reports of crime and sexual assaults at some “Occupy” camps.

The various demonstrations across the country took place in public parks, and most of them offered free food and shelter. This attracted a number of people who were not strictly a part of the movement, including criminals and other troublemakers. In many cases, protesters were victims of sexual assault, not the assailants.

When asked about the “Occupy Wall Street” protests after her speech by independent YouTube reporter John Sheehan, Loesch said she was “fascinated” by the movement, but did not understand its purpose. After being questioned about crime at the “Occupy” protests, she said that all she knew was that the movement was about “vandalism and rape.”

“What are you about if not those things?” she said. “What are you here for? What are you involved in the Occupy movement for?”

RNC chair: GOP ‘war on women’ fictional like ‘war on caterpillars’

The chairman of the Republican National Committee is denying that his party is waging a war on women, saying it’s as fictional as the “war on caterpillars.”

In a interview that will air on Saturday, Bloomberg TV’s Al Hunt asked RNC Chairman Reince Priebus how big of a problem it was for Republicans that recent polls showed President Barack Obama with a 2-1 lead among female voters in battleground states.

“If Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars and every mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that the Republicans have a war on caterpillars then we would have problems with caterpillars,” Priebus explained. “The fact of the matter is that it’s a fiction.”

“This started as a war against the Vatican that this president pursued,” the RNC chairman said, referring to the Obama administration’s mandate that health care insurance provided by religious institutions cover contraception for women. “He still hasn’t answered Archbishop Dolan’s issues with Obama-world and Obamacare.”

“How do we combat it? We make the case to women and everyone in this country — no matter what you background — that, number one, this president hasn’t fulfilled his promises. Number two, we can do better in this country in regards to jobs and the economy.”

Probable Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney earlier this week declared that he would “take our message to the women of America” to make up lost ground.

“We have work, we have work to do, to make sure we take our message to the women of America, so they understand how we’re going to get good jobs and we’re going to have a bright economic future for them and for their kids,” the candidate told supporters in Middleton, Wisconsin. “And make sure that these distortions that the Democrats throw in are clarified and the truth is heard.”

Romney To Women Voters: 'Vote For The Other Guy' If You Want Greater Access To Birth Control

Mitt Romney found himself in hot water over his opposition to expanding women’s access to contraception, less than a week after suggesting that he would “get rid of” Planned Parenthood, among other programs, to reduce the deficit. During a town hall in Illinois Monday evening, the former Massachusetts governor told a voter to “vote for the other guy” if she wanted access to “free birth control” and said that the federal government should not subsidize women’s health care through Planned Parenthood:

Q: I’m just wondering where you would suggest that the millions of women who receive their health services, such as mammograms, and HPV vaccines go?

ROMNEY: Well, they could go wherever they’d like to go — this is a free society. But here is what I say, which is the federal government should not tax these people to pay for Planned Parenthood. There are a lot of things that we have in our society that we may like, that we might not like, but that government should not be paying for.

Despite expanding health care to women as governor of Massachusetts — and even attending a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in 1994 as a Senate candidate — Romney has come out against helping women find affordable reproductive health services since announcing his presidential candidacy.

Beyond simply threatening Planned Parenthood, which provides necessary health care for millions of women, Romney has also called for cutting funds for Title X — the only federal program devoted to family planning — from the federal budget. He endorsed the so-called Blunt amendment to allow any employer to drop health insurance coverage for contraception and other health services on moral grounds, and spoke out against requiring employers and insurers to provide birth control coverage in their health care plans at no additional cost. Given that track record, many women and health advocates may indeed be inclined to “vote for the other guy.”
