For Marmite it's a love/hate thing, not quite the same for the far-right British National Party, turns out the makers of Marmite is not happy.
Unilever (the makers of Marmite) are threatening legal action against the BNP for using the jar of yeast extract on their web version of their election broadcast without permission. The party said that it was a spoof, but claimed that they were not responsible for the product placement. Fortunately, the jar was not included in the main broadcast (well, it has to comply with Ofcom guidelines)

For the first time in 85 years, iconic Australian food spread Vegemite is getting a makeover - and just like the original, which was named in a national poll in 1923, the new version will also be named by a public contest.
A creamier variation of the product will go on sale early next month alongside the original, which has been a staple in pantries Down Under since its invention in 1922.
Kraft, makers of Vegemite, decided to create a new spread after conducting a census of 300,000 Australians and New Zealanders to find out how they use Vegemite. The end result is a Vegemite mixed with cream cheese for a smoother, more spreadable consistency.
Simon Talbot, Kraft Australia's head of corporate affairs, said: 'It's a milder version, more suited to dipping celery or carrots, easy to spread. It's a different flavor profile but still distinctly Vegemite.'
Until the new Vegemite is names, jars that go on sale next month will carry the label: 'Name Me'.
It's not the first time Kraft Australia has blended cheese and Vegemite. Noticing that some consumers made sandwiches of Vegemite and a slice of cheese, the company briefly introduced Vegemite singles - a flavored cheese - in 1991.For the first time in 85 years, iconic Australian food spread Vegemite is getting a... more

Pupils in Ceredigion can no longer have Marmite on toast over claims the yeast extract spread contains too much salt.
Ceredigion Council said the popular spread was now off the menu at all 51 school breakfast clubs in the county because of the high level of salt.
Parents at Pontrhydfendigaid primary school expressed surprise at the move.
Makers of the century-old spread Unilever described the council's decision as "disappointing" and said the spread had only low levels of salt.
A spokesman for the Ceredigion village school admitted they would no longer be serving Marmite in the breakfast club after the salt content was highlighted.
"Breakfast clubs are intended to improve the health and concentration of children - to assist in the raising of standards of learning and attainment," said the spokesman.
"But anything served must be healthy and nutritionally balanced.
"Marmite is not included on the list of items as it does include a high level of salt.
"Low sugar marmalade or jam can be spread on toast, but lemon curd is not on the list of provisions."
About a third of the school's 60 pupils attend the breakfast club.
Head teacher Joyce George said she she was aware that Marmite is now off the menu but said she has no input into the meals' contents.
They were organised instead by the county council catering department liaising with the school cook, she said.
A council spokesman said confirmed Marmite is now off the menu at all the county's breakfast clubs. Pupils in Ceredigion can no longer have Marmite on toast over claims the yeast extract... more

Proof that it's not ALL about user-generated content, rich media and facebook applications. This is simple old school advertising. And it's completely charming. Well done DDB.
