The Intelligent Universe proposes a possibility: that the universe might end in intelligent life. Not life as we know it but life that has acquired the capacity to shape the cosmos as a whole, just as life on Earth has acquired the ability to shape the land, the sea and the atmosphere. As the iconoclastic Princeton physicist Freeman Dyson put it: Mind, through the long course of biological evolution, has established itself as a moving force in our little corner of the universe. Here on this small planet, mind has infiltrated matter and has taken control. It appears to me that the tendency of mind to infiltrate and control matter is a law of nature http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/submit-an-article/42985-it-takes-a-giant-cosmos-to-create-life-and-mindThe Intelligent Universe proposes a possibility: that the universe might end in... more

A highly-respected scientist and astrobiologist with a prestigious record of accomplishment at NASA thinks he may have found evidence for extraterrestrial life. The Journal of Cosmology has taken the extraordinary step of inviting 100 scientists with specific expertise and 5,000 other members of the scientific community to review this paper by Dr. Richard Hoover.
The journal believes, correctly, that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. The paper will be published, along with reaction to it, March 7 through 10.

NASA is holding a press conference on Thursday "to discuss an astrobiology finding." Are they going to announce that they've found evidence of extraterrestrial life?
Blogger Jason Kottke took a look at NASA's press release, which touts "an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life" (astrobiology, besides being a cool word, is "the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe"), and decided to investigate further by looking at the participants' resumes. So who are the participants?
A geobiologist who's written about "geology and life on Mars";
An oceanographer who's done extensive work on arsenic-based photosynthesis;
A biologist examining Titan, the largest moon of Saturn, and its similarities to early Earth;
And an ecologist investigating the "chemistry of environments where life evolves."
Now, yes, obviously, throw in a grizzled marine and you've got the making of an awesome movie about discovering aliens. But that's not (the only reason) why Kottke thinks the announcement will be about life on another world. Here's what he says:
So, if I had to guess at what NASA is going to reveal on Thursday, I'd say that they've discovered arsenic on Titan and maybe even detected chemical evidence of bacteria utilizing it for photosynthesis (by following the elements). Or something like that. (thx, sippey)
Of course, the announcement could be something totally different! Or, it could be that NASA has been contacted by a warlike race of space aliens and a certain-to-fail mission carried out by a ragtag bunch of scientists is our only hope of survival.
The picture, by the way, is the sun reflecting off a lake on Titan, "the only place in our solar system beyond Earth known to have liquid on its surface." HOW COOL IS THAT?!
Space, guys! Space!

The post-Thanksgiving holiday season marks the beginning of a series of important windows of time for extraterrestrial disclosure by the Obama administration. The first time window came and went without any announcement. This has led to some skepticism that disclosure is imminent at all. Multiple independent sources, however, continue to insist that extraterrestrial disclosure is imminent. All that is required is the right opportunity by the Obama administration to disclose the reality of extraterrestrial life to the world. The main political constraint on a disclosure announcement is the November 2010 mid-term Congressional elections. A disclosure announcement would need to come well in advance of this, no later than the middle of 2010, when the partisan political environment becomes very heated as Republicans earnestly seek to regain Congressional seats. An official disclosure announcement would need to be made in a bipartisan manner and environment that does not favor either of the major U.S. political parties. This means that any time from the present up to early 2010 is the optimal period when official extraterrestrial disclosure will occur.

Danish National TV DR2 Udland -- inteview with Washington D.C. Lobbyist Stephen Bassett, founder of Paradigm Research Group, on the topic of International and National Disclosure of the ET presence & the 'Truth Embargo' in the USA, he briefly speaks about What it is, Why it's important, How it can help and What it could mean or lead to.
Please understand that while this topic is subject to much debate, there is a great importance within this movement, known as Disclosure - truly an umbrella term with many movements taking part in disclosure from governments and public leaders.
-------
Disclosure of the Truth from a world power such as the USA (ideally) or even France, China, Japan, etc. would provoke unprecedented positive change, and innovations in all aspects of our daily life, within the whole scope of Earth society.
To list some avenues a complete proper Disclosure would construct/contribute: Clean, Free Energy, proper care for our Ecosystems, Water purification, abundant and free effective Healthcare, cures and proper care for many diseases/ailments, advanced technology affecting all venues of business, living, and development, but also all aspects of Spirituality, understanding the Meta-Universe and Being, leading purposeful abundant lives together as a cooperative and compassionate planetary society..
Hold on.. What is this 'Truth' referring to?
Firstly, the formal acknowledgement of the extraterrestrial presence by governments of our world. There is no ambition in the Disclosure movement to expose this information in order to protect ourselves from a presence. We need not to fear this subject, and it's important for people to know the truth so that the people can know that these presences do not pose a threat on our well being. Thus we can move forward with addressing the reality that we are not alone.
As people of Earth, it is our right to know the Truth about the presences of intelligent life in our solar system, especially advanced and spiritually evolved people not from our planet. Who are these presences? How can we 'Rise to the occasion' to reach a formal introduction, or as simple as a formal acknowledgement from world leaders? How are they related to us; Are there really other humans out there? If so, then how does this impact our understanding of who we are, our origins, and how/why we are on Earth.
There is so much to discuss on the subject of Disclosure, one could consider it to be among the biggest challenges for the world's governments to address - one can see how such a deep and controversial subject could be pushed to the side for so long.
It is time for Humanity to re-kindle the Family we are, to show that we are mature and responsible individuals, and communities, making up a world of diverse and cooperative cultures.
We shouldn't wait for our world leaders to decide when humanity is ready for the veils to be lifted; so that 100% of what is going on in our world, and what has been going on - but has been kept hidden through efforts of certain powers - may be freely available and publicised by all medias.
While complete transparent Disclosure is inevitable, "When?" is a matter of time and the people's voice, of all nations.
This is a Global Movement, it is also more than a global matter, as the scope of Disclosure does go beyond our planet Earth, and even our solar system. So far, only the tip of the iceberg has been revealed on the matter of 'transparent Truth' from our governments, & there is much much more to come.
It's time for us to show our care, and to show our loyalty to one another as WE are, ultimately, One Earth under the Heavens.
Thank You.

All have been identified in the upper stratosphere, 10 kilometers (6 miles) and 50 kilometers (31 miles) above the surface of the planet and They have high tolerance to UV light .
Recent studies of the upper layers of the atmosphere have revealed three new species of bacteria that cannot be found on the surface of the planet. The organisms seem to have a very high degree of tolerance to UV light, which makes sense considering that the ozone layer is much thinner at impressive heights, or even completely missing. The find has been made by Indian researchers, who have used a high-altitude balloon outfitted with a number of scientific instruments for the new measurements.
The organisms were then transported to the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, and to the National Center for Cell Science (NCCS), so as to verify them in two different labs. Both facilities used similar analysis protocols, so as to ensure that the results would be homogeneous. Some 12 bacterial types and 6 fungal colonies were discovered, out of which most had, to an accuracy of 98 percent, a genome sequence similar to that of bacteria and fungi that can be found on Earth too.
Three of these colonies, PVAS-1, B3 W22 and B8 W22, were completely new, and the research team started analyzing them immediately. It concluded that these organisms did not originate from our planet, as evidenced by the fact that they exhibited much higher UV radiation resistance than their closest genetic “neighbors.” The scientists didn't say that the bacteria were extra-terrestrial in origin, but shared that this discovery proved the usefulness of researches dealing with finding the origins of life.All have been identified in the upper stratosphere, 10 kilometers (6 miles) and 50... more

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, famous for its manned missions to the moon, announced the creation of the Carl Sagan Postdoctoral Fellowships in Exoplanet Exploration on Wednesday.
The fellowship is named after the late astronomer who popularized science through his books and television appearances.
The fellows will search for life on planets outside our solar system, the so-called exoplanets, more than 300 of which have been discovered since 1994.
Many of the planets discovered orbiting distant stars are gaseous and icy giants believed unsuitable to support life. The challenge is to find Earth-like planets orbiting Sun-like stars.
That search will be aided by NASA's Kepler mission, due for launch next year, that will survey 100,000 stars looking for smaller planets.
In addition, the agency wants to attract young scientists who share Sagan's wonderment about the cosmos who will dedicate themselves to answering the question, "Are we alone?" through improved telescope technology or other means.
"Many feel it's only a matter of time before we find Earth-like planets in Earth-like orbit around solar-like stars and that such planets might be capable of sustaining life," Jon Morse, director of NASA's astrophysics division, told a news conference.
The Sagan fellowships -- $60,000 annual stipends awarded to four or five fellows per year -- are the third named after famed scientists. Others are named after Albert Einstein and Edwin Hubble.
When Sagan died in 1996 at age 62, only 11 exoplanets had been discovered.
"We're learning an enormous amount," said Charles Beichman, director of NASA's Exoplanet Science Institute. "We know the rate of star formation. Ten years ago, we didn't know about the fraction of stars with planets. Now we know ... 10 percent have Jupiters and in a few years we'll know about Earths.
"How many of those worlds have life? That's a slightly longer-term question, but is absolutely something that 21st century science can accomplish," he said.The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, famous for its manned missions to... more
