Get ready to rock. And I mean rock AND roll over to Macy’s when they launch Andrew Charles, the rocker inspired men’s fashion collection. You gotta love Macy’s. They are snapping up every bit of celebrity and now sub-culture to keep their name relevant in retail news. I was pulled into a meeting with them over three years ago when they were just beginning to scratch their heads for what to do with themselves. Though I was close to a deal, the September 2008 economy hit and it was put on the back burner. So far back, it disintegrated. But we developed a fierce plan, one which they have not implemented to date. Instead, they seem to be far more interested in mainstream, celebrity-focused capsule collections. The face of this new brand, Andrew Charles, no relation to Elgin Charles, is ex-bad boy, Steven Tyler.
When Louis Vuitton featured Keith Richards in the ad campaign for LV luggage, it was more of an aspirational deal. And it was fitting because Keith does look like leather luggage. (I say that in the most loving, respectful way.) But I am not sure that having Steven Tyler, who looks amazing, be the face of a brand that will cater to young rock ‘n’ roll hopefuls. The idea of going to Herald Square to gear up for a night at Don Hill’s seems like a stretch. Give me Trash & Vaudeville in the East Village any day. At least then you are in the neighborhood that embodies the youthful, rocker spirit. You can get a tattoo, buy some crystal, it makes sense. Once you are up at Macy’s, what then? You step into Victoria’s Secret or H & M? It’s just not the same. Think about it, would Lady Gaga or Madonna have thrived had they run to get their inspiration from New York City’s equivalent of a mall?

Watch host Conor Knighton separate the comedy wheat from the chaff that was this week in media before we mangle another metaphor. Here you'll discover why Kim Kardashian has "died" (it's for a good cause), Wolf Blitzer is no longer the whitest man alive, and what a Victoria's Secret model wants most in the world. Bonus: Conor sings show tunes.
infoMania is a half-hour satirical news show that airs on Current TV. The show puts a comedic spin on the 24-hour chaos and information overload brought about by the constant bombardment of the media. Hosted by Conor Knighton and co-starring Brett Erlich, Erin Gibson, Ben Hoffman, Bryan Safi and Sergio Cilli, the show airs on Thursdays at 11/10c on Current TV.

2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place overnight at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York. It was another huge spectablonski, Lily Donaldson, and Heloise Guerin. Angel veteran Adriana Lima opened the show, while she and Karolina Kurkova both made their return after skipping last year’s show due to pregnancy. Models Lily Aldridge and Anne Vyalitsyna had their rocker boyfriends (Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill and Maroon 5′s Adam Levine) cheering on from the crowds, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also returned to hit the VS runway. Performances were provided by Akon and Katy Perry, who wore her own colourful creations designed by the label’s Todd Thomas. The show is due to air the U.S. on November 30.

Lingerie company Victoria’s Secret unveiled its annual fantasy, jewel-encrusted bra on Wednesday but reduced the price of its holiday catalogue highlight for a second year amid a weak, post-recession economy.
Brazilian model Adriana Lima showed off the Bombshell Fantasy Bra in New York adorned with 3000 white diamonds, light blue sapphires, and oval-shaped topazes with a total of 142 carats – and a price tag of $US2 million.
Lima, a Victoria’s Secret Angel who earns $US7.5 million a year according to a recent Forbes list, said the one-of-a-kind bra designed by Damiani Jewelers is special and not just flashy. Not too bad for the gal poised to possibly take over for Heidi Klum as “Head Angel.”
The lingerie brand has collaborated with Damiani to create their most luxurious and bling-worthy bra yet. “It’s really a work of art,” says 29-year-old Lima, who gave birth to a baby girl she named Valentina in November. “I love diamonds – they’re always a girl’s best friend!”
This isn’t her first time wearing an expensive bra, but the supermodel insists that it really is “comfortable.” As she put it, “It’s very comfortable, very comfortable. Everything is right in place. It’s perfect. I like a push-up bra.”
The $2 million bra, with a blue and white design inspired by celestial and constellation patterns, was on show to launch Victoria’s Secret new holiday collection. The luxury bra has become an annual novelty event to promote the holiday collection.
But the 2010 bra was a snip of the price of last year’s $US3 million fantasy bra, the Harlequin Fantasy, which boasted 2350 white, champagne and cognac-colored diamonds, a heart-shaped 16 carat champagne diamond, and a total carat weight of 150 carats.
Victoria’s Secret 2008 fantasy bra, the Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra, carried a price tag of $US5 million while the 2007 fantasy bra was priced at $US4.5 million, and the 2006 bra at $US6.5 million.
As for any anxieties about getting her post-baby body back in shape for the big November 10 runway show (where Katy Perry and Akon will be performing)? “No, no, no,” insisted Lima. “I’ve been doing this for 10 years. I’ve been working out, and taking care of my nutrition.”
While everyone at the luncheon was very curious as to what models would be “wearing the wings” this year (since angels like Miranda Kerr are pregnant, we’re anticipating some new blood), Victoria’s Secret doesn’t seem especially concerned about replacing recently retired head angel, Heidi Klum. We hear the label anticipates a new chief-of-angels will likely occur more organically.
