Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff sued the makers of Risperdal and
Seroquel yesterday in the Third Judicial District Court of Salt Lake County, Utah.
Shurtleff sued Janssen and AstraZeneca over the “wrongful and illegal marketing,
sale and promotion of the atypical antipsychotics risperidone (known as Risperdal)
and quetiapine (known as Seroquel).”
The lawsuit says that Janssen and AstraZeneca knew or should have known but failed
to warn and misled the FDA and the State of Utah regarding Rispderdal’s and Seroquel’s
association with the development of diabetes, diabetes-related conditions, including weight
gain and other serious,even life thereatening medical conditions.

A dear, kickass friend of mine tried surfing for the first time in Hawaii two years ago. He caught his first wave and never really bailed too hard. Then, a few hours later he was paralyzed from the waist down due to a condition called Surfer's Myelopathy.
Surfer's Myelopathy is a non-traumatic spinal cord injury that affects first-time surfers. Today, the Surfer' Myelopathy Foundation team announced the launch of the Foundation's website.
Check out the website, and although it's a rare condition, if you could find it in your heart to give to the foundation, I'd really appreciate it.A dear, kickass friend of mine tried surfing for the first time in Hawaii two years... more

My Father is a pharmacist. He would be very interested in seeing this. I grew up around a pharmacy, and I have heard the stories surrounding HMO's, Generics, etc... This reminds me of the movie "The Serpent and the Rainbow". Sad but true, how corn is more important than thousands of discoveries lost to slash and burn aggro.My Father is a pharmacist. Marijuana Arrests at Record Level
Figures released by the FBI the week of September 20, 2006 showed marijuana arrests are at an all time high. More than seven-hundred eighty thousand people were arrested in 2005 for marijuana violations. That?s over forty percent of all drug arrests in the United States. Almost nine in ten were arrested for possession. Allen St. Pierre of NORML - The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws said: "Arresting hundreds of thousands of Americans who smoke marijuana responsibly needlessly destroys the lives of otherwise law abiding citizens? It makes no sense to continue to treat nearly half of all Americans as criminals for their use of a substance that poses no greater health risks than alcohol or tobacco.?
And people wonder why we can't afford the art department at their local school. Imagine if we invested all the money we waste on the WAR ON DRUGS in our schools, our hospitals and other essential services.
We don't just fight the WAR ON DRUGS in America, we do it all over the world. CAMP in Jamaica and our soldiers in the jungles of Columbia are just two examples. Hello, tap tap. Is this thing on? Is anyone else getting it? Am I wrong?
I'm reminded of a poem:
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
No more wars period.Marijuana Arrests at Record Level
