The most nauseous photograph to come out of the Iran tragedy was not the bloodied demonstrators in Tehran, but a Reuters picture of former Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, "fighting back tears" in Washington as he declared that Neda Agha Sultan, the young woman shot dead by Ahmadinejad's thugs a week ago, "was now for ever in my pocket". I bet she is, by God! 1) Imagine the draft Gore effort succeeds and his name is ont he CA primary ballot.
2) imagine he does not make a specific request to have his name removed from the ballot.
3) He wins or does very well in CA, along with NY, NJ

And from reading so far it is obvious to me the clear and present danger this planet is now in and how that new level of consciousness he speaks of is where we will find the solutions. He is surely a global leader of vision. And again, he mentions that the paradigm shift will see people laying down in front of bulldozers to stop coal fired plants from being built. He reportedly also stated through his office that he was considering an invitation from the Rainforest Action Network to do just that. This is what he is talking about regarding activism as stated in The Assault on Reason. This is what that shift will have to contain in order to be successful...US. And it is a consciousness that goes beyond the political to the moral and spiritual essence of our very beings which when reached will simply tell us that and other forms of activism to make those changes are the right things to do now. The fact that he would now even consider such an invitation clearly illustrates to me the urgency of the crisis we now face and must address in mitigating the damage we are doing to this planet. Even candidates for office will need that paradigm shift to see beyond their own political biases to do what is morally right. All I know is, that for him to be the leader of this at this time is no coincidence. This is THE issue, and this is the most important position he has ever had in his entire life and is the one I do believe he will be most remembered for. Looks to me like Mr. Gore is much more comfortable as a global ambassador for the planet. And he is making progress as well. 700 cities have stepped up to the plate and Seattle is leading the way as well as NYC, Chicago, and many others, including mine which also signed Mayor Nickels agreement regarding meeting Kyoto standards. This is how you build a movement. It funnels from cities/Mayors, to legislatures, Governors, and then to businesses. And while some may think the Federal govt in the cesspool of DC that has done nothing effective about this for thirty years despite warnings is the be all end all of this, it isn't and won't be until state after state passes laws cutting emissions to the point where the federal government will have no choice but to follow. So if you care about moratoriums on building coal fired power plants unless they have sequestration traps... if you care about truly mitigating the climate crisis, then if you haven't already, write letters to your municipal government, your mayor, your legislature, and your Governor. I am lucky that my Governor signed a bill the day before Live Earth with Al Gore presiding where my state will be cutting emissions by 80% by 2050... and I am proud to have been one of the citizens involved in letter writing to the Governor, petitions to the legislature, and other ways of telling those who lead in my state about what must be done... not what they have a choice in doing, because at this point it is a must that Mayors and governors get on board to see the opportunities involved as well as the urgency in working to mitigate the effects of a crisis now effecting more states.Looks to me like Mr. Gore is much more comfortable as a global ambassador for the... more
