Lots of pumpkins are out on the street without a home. And this is the reason we brought this new client to WHACKO-TV: Where's The Pumpkin! We have no idea what they sell, but their tune is catchy and their social commentary embedded in their TV commercial must mean something. If only Wendy's could be this creative. And where is that Amanda Knox show?Lots of pumpkins are out on the street without a home. And this is the reason we... more

Cops are hunting five teenage girls accused of pummeling a Wendy's employee in a Queens attack that was posted on YouTube.
The gang of girls punched, kicked and slapped Michelle Ortiz, 42, in a wild melee in the Hillside Ave. fast-food joint in Queens Village on Jan. 21, cops said.
Ortiz, a single mother of five, suffered a concussion in the 5 p.m. beatdown.
"Animals acted better than they acted that night," Ortiz told the Daily News. "They just kept hitting and hitting and hitting and kicking and punching me in the head. I was defenseless."
In the shocking cell phone video, Ortiz is seen confronting a mob of young people inside the eatery. Then, someone hurls food at her, and seconds later, the girls pounce.
Ortiz said a pair of girls were preparing to fight each other when she stepped in.
"I was trying to make the peace," said Ortiz, who said she is suffering from headaches and nausea that prevent her from returning to work.
Students at nearby Martin Van Buren High School said they recognized some of the assailants as underclassmen.
"They had no right to put their hands on her," said senior David Johnson, 17. "I think they should be punished."

Everybody knows that the internet has a bacon fetish. It's one of the tastiest animal products, but as my friend the nutritionist says: "I love the smell of bacon in the morning. It smells like obesity." Some think this trend is coming to an end, but I'm not so sure. And that is what sparked this work of meme historical fiction.
Now to present you with the second piece of meme historical fiction ever written. This time Josh Heller has teamed up with darling of the genre, Andrew Fitzgerald to co-write this piece:
Bacon had retained it's grip over the internet for years. In the early days it seemed like a new bacon blog popped up every other day. Then on a fateful late summer morning, the New York Times released an article that changed everything. "It’s Hip to Be Round" claimed to show a new trend: male hipsters showing off their pot bellies. The moment this article hit the blogstands, the face of bacon as we know it.
Within hours hipsters around the world were mobilized. From the lofts of Williamsburg to the warehouses of Hackney emanded a change.
Historians time the start of the backlash to the destruction by looting and firebombing of the Brooklyn “offices” of popular “blog” This is why you’re fat. The rage of the thin was not to be contained just to that, the offices of Tumblr itself were next and authorities just barely rescued company founder David Karp from a slow herb-roasting in a health-conscious man-sized George Foreman Grill.
Within days, cooler heads prevailed, with such calming voices as writer Michael Pollan’s eventually drowning out the bloodthirsty (most notably Jonathan Safran Foer who famously called for Americans to “Burn down your McDonalds, Tear apart your Wendys, Rip your Arby's limb from pork-y limb...”). Pollan suggested that of all the high fat items to be singled out, perhaps bacon was the worst offender, and could be replaced. He suggested quinoa, a largely unheard-of grain.
Quinoanaise became a popular product for so-called "quinoatarians"
Within weeks items such as quinoa and eggs, quinoa cheese (veggie) burgers, and even the late night snack quinoa-wrapped hot dogs were available nationwide in great abundance. It was only perhaps six months later that a book deal was announced for popular FriendFeed account This is Why You’re Thin which featured many pieces of what the nutritiono-blogosphere termed “quinoaporn”.
This "quinoatarian" made a "quinbra."Everybody knows that the internet has a bacon fetish. It's one of the tastiest... more

You can watch TV or read a magazine and it wont take you very long to come across a drug advertisement. When you hear about health care reform it is always about treatment. Why do you never hear about prevention? Why? Because there is no money for big corporations with prevention. If I was a CEO I couldn't make money if I told you to eat right and exercise. If I were to do that how could I sell you my treatments? Preventable diseases have now surpassed infectious disease as the top killers on the planet. The big three heart disease, cancer, and diabetes combined kill 2.5 million people every year in America alone. The reason? We are all heavily marketed to believe that modern medicine will give us a pill or treatment instead of taking responsibility for our health. The man in the white coat will make it better. We have been dis-empowered to take control of our health with food and drug company rhetoric. The attitude that "they know whats best for us" has to stop.
Good Nutrition is a giant step towards disease prevention. Most doctors don't get more than a semester of nutrition education. Why is that? The medical industrial complex has a marketing machine in place to sell you their best products, in this case it's surgery and drugs. Our greatest weapon against this rising epidemic is education, and I dont mean public education or government education. I mean you educating yourself about your health.
There are individuals out there with the right information you have to look for it!, it isn't profitable for corporations to provide you with formation that hurts their bottom line! You can watch TV or read a magazine and it wont take you very long to come across a... more

Wendy's burger chain will withdraw from Japan, ending a 29-year presence in an Asian market long dominated by McDonald's Corp.
Zensho Co. Ltd., which runs America's No.3 hamburger chain in Japan, said Friday it will end its contract with Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc. and close the country's 71 Wendy's burger shops by the end of December.
Wendy's opened its first shop in Japan in 1980. The American burger chain was managed by retailer Daiei Inc. until 2002 when Zensho took over the business.
Wendy's in Japan generated 6.2 billion yen ($70 million) in sales in the fiscal year to March 2009.
"We will focus our resources on beef bowl restaurants and others. The closure is part of our business plans," said a Zensho spokesman, who declined to be named, citing department policy.

Doctors removed a 1-inch piece of plastic from his lung, where it had rested since he apparently inhaled it nearly two years ago while sucking down a soft drink at a Wendy's restaurant.
(AP, 2009, September 17, par.1)
Doctors at Duke University Medical Center say the plastic fragment of an eating utensil — with the Wendy's logo still legible on the side — was likely to blame for the coughing, fatigue and pneumonia spells that plagued John Manley for almost two years.

A man, dressed only in his birthday suit, ran through the drive-through of a Canadian Wendy's at the weekend. Taking a leaf (but not fashion tips) out of Hamburglar's book, the man nabbed some food as he squeezed past the server and a hungry female motorist.
Police are now looking for the fast fast food bandit and his accomplices who picked him up in a waiting van. Was their naked lunch worth it? Check the video, it would appear so!A man, dressed only in his birthday suit, ran through the drive-through of a Canadian... more

Eva Longoria decided to give back to the David Thomas Foundation by returning to the same Wendy’s restaurant that she worked at from 1991-1994 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She served Frosties, took orders, and even worked in the drive-thru! I worked at Wendy’s back in 2000. Can’t say I really liked it there but it was a job. Next question…who hasn’t worked there?Eva Longoria decided to give back to the David Thomas Foundation by returning to the... more
