This week, the top military contractor companies announced their first-quarter profits for 2012. Their profits continue to grow while they push Washington, D.C. to protect their budgets at the expense of the rest of us, and while they break the law for financial gain. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and FDR wouldn't tolerate this kind of outrage. They knew that patriots don't behave this way, but profiteers do.

Checking out the US media recently I have noticed a dramatic downturn in anti-Iran rhetoric. Now that the Israeli leaders got what they wanted from the Obama administration, in terms of more weapons and money and a relief from forced negotiation with Palestinians, the scare tactic about nuclear Iran has died off. Israel was a clear winner and achieved what it wanted without firing a shot. By now more people should come to the point of understanding that all of this brouhaha was about “Mullah’s Blanket”.
I traveled to Iran two years ago and I found the media to be a joke at best. That is expected. But ,when I compare the accuracy of the media Iran with its counterpart in the US, I do not see much difference. That is NOT expected. At the risk of being an apologist for Ahmadinejad I take issue with the “free press” in my adopted country.
Why is there such a hype about Iran’s nuclear program?
Even if Iran WAS after the bomb, would any one blame the fear among the leadership of Iran about being surrounded by the most powerful military in history which could attack it, like Iraq in 2003, at any time without excuse? It would be unwise and politically irresponsible for the leaders of Iran not to, at least, think about having a bomb as only a deterrent to foreign invasion.
We have US secretary of defense Leon Panetta recently saying that Iran is NOT pursuing a nuclear program. Several years ago during George W Bush’s administration all US intelligence services came out with a report with the same conclusion.
If it IS true that Iran is not after a bomb then we must agree that these ever increasing international sanctions against this country, which severely punish the people of Iran, are a violation of international laws.

The recent debt limit congressional circus must be a new Twilight Zone episode written by a computerized program straight out of central casting. Rod Serling must be turning in his grave. A twenty-first century rewrite of his exceptional Seven Days in May screenplay is certainly in order, this time with a different ending. If there are any confused or co-opted worshipers of the federal government left, what more proof do you need that the bipartisan political criminal class is determined to destroy this nation? Not convinced that this assessment is correct; then you need remediable instruction in arithmetic. What is happening as the US is taken over by fascist forces? If past is prologue:
1. Many police will go along with it
2. People who are otherwise useless will be recruited to enforce "the law" (example TSA)
3. The well-to-do will be more likely to go along with it
4. People who actually work for a living will make up the bulk of the resistance
5. Ultimately, distinctions between "right" and "left" won't matter. Sane and patriotic people will resist regardless of the details of the political background
6. Most people will do nothing and just keep their heads down and try to survive
7. All kinds of government atrocities will take place in broad daylight and most people will just look the other way
8. There will be some heroic people
