On 30 October 1961, the largest nuclear weapon ever constructed was set off over Novaya Zemlya Island in the Russian Arctic Sea. The Soviet ‘Tsar Bomba’ had a yield of 50 megatons, or the power of around 3,800 Hiroshima bombs detonated simultaneously. While its official designation was RDS-220 hydrogen bomb, the Tsar Bomba was given its nickname by the West in an analogy with two other huge Russian objects, the Tsar Bell and the Tsar Cannon, the largest of their kind in the world. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/your-details/43079-the-tsar-bomba-king-of-all-bombsOn 30 October 1961, the largest nuclear weapon ever constructed was set off over... more
WHILE many believed it to be an April Fool’s Day joke, Vladimir Putin has confirmed Russia has been testing mind-bending psychotronic guns that can effectively turn people into zombies.
The futuristic weapons – which attack their victims’ central nervous system – are being developed by scientists and could be used against Russia’s enemies and even its own dissidents by the end of the decade.

In case you didn't know, bullets, bombs, and nuclear weapons are old school. War mongers were far more interested in the electromagnetic pulse (EMP) "side-effect" of nuclear blasts than the explosion itself. They sought to harness these energies, in new pain-generating ways, to subjugate and demoralize all opposition. TEHRAN, Iran – Iran has begun uranium enrichment at a new underground site well protected from possible airstrikes, a leading hardline newspaper reported Sunday.
Kayhan daily, which is close to Iran’s ruling clerics, said Tehran has begun injecting uranium gas into sophisticated centrifuges at the Fordo facility near the holy city of Qom.
Iran is under U.N. sanctions for refusing to stop uranium enrichment — which can produce both nuclear fuel and fissile warhead material — and other suspected activities that the international community fears could be used to make atomic arms.
Tehran says it only seeks reactors for energy and research, and refuses to halt its uranium enrichment activities.
“Kayhan received reports yesterday that show Iran has begun uranium enrichment at the Fordo facility amid heightened foreign enemy threats,” the paper said in a front-page report. Kayhan’s manager is a representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
But Iran’s nuclear chief Fereidoun Abbasi said late Saturday that his country will “soon” begin enrichment at Fordo. It was impossible to immediately reconcile the two reports.
Iran has a major uranium enrichment facility in Natanz in central Iran where nearly 8,000 centrifuges are operating. Tehran began enrichment at Natanz in April 2006.
The Fordo centrifuges however are reportedly more efficient, and the site better shielded from aerial attack.
Satellite image of construction site of Iran's new uranium enrichment facility near Qom.
Built next to a military complex, Fordo was long kept secret and was only acknowledged by Iran after it was identified by Western intelligence agencies in September 2009.
Both the U.S. and Israel have not ruled out a military strike should Iran continue with its program.
Tehran however says it needs its enrichment program to produce fuel for future nuclear reactors and medical radioisotopes needed for cancer patients.
The country has been enriching uranium to less than 5 percent for years, but it began to further enrich part of its uranium stockpile to nearly 20 percent as of February 2010, saying it needs the higher grade material to produce fuel for a Tehran reactor that makes medical radioisotopes needed for cancer patients. Weapons-grade uranium is usually about 90 percent enriched.
Iran says the higher enrichment activities — of nearly 20 percent — will be carried out at Fordo. These operations are of particular concern to the West because uranium at 20 percent enrichment can be converted into fissile material for a nuclear warhead much more quickly than that at 3.5 percent.
Buried under 300 feet of rock, the facility is a hardened tunnel and is protected by air defense missile batteries and the Revolutionary Guard, Iran’s most powerful military force. The site is located about 12 miles north of Qom, the religious nerve center of Iran’s ruling system.
“The Fordo facility, like Natanz, has been designed and built underground. The enemy doesn’t have the ability to damage it,” the semiofficial Mehr news agency quoted Abbasi as saying Sunday.

Earlier this month, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released its much-trailed report ‘presenting new evidence’, said the BBC, ‘suggesting that Iran is secretly working to obtain a nuclear weapon.’ Relying on ‘evidence provided by more than 10 member states as well as its own information’, the IAEA said Iran had carried out activities ‘relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device’. Indeed, informed scepticism in the corporate media has been muted or non-existent - the image of Iran as a ‘nuclear threat’ has yet again been imposed on the public mind. Any reasonable news reader and viewer would find it extremely difficult to question the emphatic declarations offered right across the media ‘spectrum’. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/recent-news/43028-the-iaea-iranEarlier this month, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released its... more

On our web magazine Bright an interview with Iain Overton, Head of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. By Riccardo M. Ghia and Anuradha Mojumdar.
U.S–led coalition forces have been accused of using chemical weapons against civilians in Iraq. Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena alleged that the U.S. had used white phosphorus and napalm in Fallujah during Operation Phantom Fury.
Iain Overton, editor of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism told Bright that insurgents might have used chemical weapons as well. Overton and his team played a key role in the publication of 400,000 classified documents on the Iraq War disclosed by the whistle-blower organisation Wikileaks.
There have been allegations of the use of chemical weapons by the US military in Iraq. Have you found anything connected to it?
We didn’t find anything specific related to the use of white phosphorus. We have certainly found references to the use of chemical weapons, being used by Al Qaeda in Iraq, being shipped over from Iran. We also found some evidence of chemical weapons being shipped over from Syria. There were references about chemical weapons both from Iran and Syria. All of this is alleged, of course.
So both sides – US-led forces and insurgents – might have used chemical weapons.
It’s unlikely that you would have found reports of chemical weapons used by the coalition in these documents, given that they are US military reports, rather than insurgents’ reports. Generally, you don’t find many comments about the sorts of weapons the US military were using.
It has been alleged that the US employed “mini-nukes”, new devastating weapons, according to very recent investigation, since the spike in cancers around Falluja.
We found no evidence of nuclear explosions.
What about the use of impoverished uranium?
I don’t know. We were looking through a huge mass of data and I cannot answer at the moment.
What kind of impact would you think these documents will have on the public opinion? Iraq is not in the spotlight anymore.
I think people are interested in this story. There has been huge media coverage. This massive leak is a very important revelation. That’s the biggest media enterprise ever. I don’t know other cases where so many media organisations were involved in an investigation. This is incredible. Le Monde, Der Spiegel, New York Times, The Guardian, Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Jazeera English. It has been a challenge to make them collaborate, because everyone wanted the exclusive. But we kept a severe [news] embargo and the story had a massive impact.
Do you think it might change the balance of political power in the US or in the UK?
Probably not, because journalism changes the balance of power very rarely in one direction at any moment. But politicians will be more aware in the future that you cannot go to war and keep what you do secret.
What role did the Bureau of Investigative Journalism played in the disclosure of the 400,000 documents? What’s the nature of the collaboration with Wikileaks?
We are a non-profit organisation. We were set up with foundation funding. We were there to plug the gap in investigative journalism. Investigative journalism is really suffering at the moment in conventional media. There’s just no money in it. We are philanthropists who want to plug the gap. Wikileaks was interested in collaborating with us also because we are an organisation that produces broadcasts.
Who are the donors?
The main donors are David and Elaine Potter. [David Potter is the founder and chairman of the microcomputer systems company. Elaine Potter is an author and former Sunday Times Journalist. They are trustees of the David and Elaine Potter Foundation, a charitable foundation].
How many people work at the Bureau of Investigative Journalism?
We have over 20 people working on this project. The average age of these people is late 20s - early 30s. It’s a very young staff. I’m 37. What we are trying to do is creating journalism for the future. Helping people getting their feet on the ladder of journalism and building them up. That’s important.
How did the collaboration with Wikileaks start?
Wikileaks were in London when they leak the Afghan logs. We were present and we met them. They told us about the Iraq logs and Julian [Assange] was of the opinion that he needed to get broadcast exposure. So we agreed that we would be the soul-makers of the broadcast, make the film of the investigation. We were commissioned by Channel 4 and the Aljazeera network. We also did all the research and the investigation in the documents. On our web magazine Bright an interview with Iain Overton, Head of the Bureau of... more

the following video shows you how to achieve this, be careful if you decide to try it out!
Bob Barker was recently hospitalized after collapsing on a gun range. The former "Price is Right" game show host is apparently doing fine now after a brief stay at the hospital.
Mar. 10, 2010 - Los Angeles, California, USA - Mar 10, 2010 - Los Angeles, California, USA - TV personality BOB BARKER arrives at the dedication ceremony for PETA's Los Angeles headquarters. Barker donated the funds to renovate the building which PETA will be naming in his honor.
According to USA Today, Barker, age 86, was shooting on the gun range when he fainted on Thursday. Barker was taken over to a hospital and was there for a short while. Once he was feeling better that same night, he was released to go home to rest.
Bob Barker has said that dehydration was the culprit in his collapse. Initially his publicist told TMZ that Barker is taking a blood thinner and that may have caused him to faint.
It's hard to say what's more shocking here, the fact Bob Barker collapsed or that he was shooting guns on a gun range in Los Angeles. The last he's been seen in a TV role was hosting an episode of WWE's "Monday Night Raw," but he didn't step into the ring to wrestle. Glad to hear he's doing well, but maybe he needs to take it easy and stop aiming for those action movie roles!
