The Markets Speak

As the stock market reels and shudders and Wall Street tumbles to and fro, one man has maintained—as the New York Times puts it—“a cool head and sound judgment”: Barack Obama. Also cool and sound is Mr. Obama’s lead in the polls, most of which show the Senator with a significant advantage over his rival John McCain.
Given the headlines, it would appear as if most Americans—including Republicans—see an Obama Presidency as all but inevitable.
This foreseen inevitability extends to the markets as well.
Nevertheless, the markets continue to suffer and Wall Street continues to vertiginously plummet to unprecedented depths. With the near-guaranteed election of such a “cool and sound” leader, why won’t the markets just cheer up?
Perhaps it could be that the markets really don’t want an Obama Presidency.
That is the conclusion of Charles Gasparin’s piece published last week in the New York Post. As he states:
“The country is headed for recession; the only question is: Just how low can the markets and economy go?
"It could be a lot lower - it all depends on the policies of the next president.
And, as it looks increasingly likely that Obama will be that man, the markets are casting a vote of ‘no confidence.’”
Citing Obama’s “blind loyalty to policies that bring together the worst elements of Herbert Hoover and Jimmy Carter”, Gasparin argues that the markets are preparing for an administration with a proven track record of hostility towards traditional laissez-faire capitalist enterprise. Obama’s staggering tax hikes and massive spending increases do not bode well for an already suffering marketplace.
As Gasparin continues:
“I look at Obama's record differently. From his days as a community activist, to his years in the Illinois Senate and now his brief time in the US Senate, he has shown little inclination to deviate from his party's tax-and-spend orthodoxy.”
Mr. Gasparin communicates a strong point and one that ALG New Bureau has steadfastly trumpeted. The more government keeps its hands off the economy, the more the economy is free to proliferate. If the market has too many government hurdles to overcome, it is likely to stumble, as it is now on account of government over-intervention.
Based on Obama’s soaring poll numbers, it seems Americans have bought the false narrative that Republican-sponsored deregulation and this “hands off” attitude caused the financial meltdown. The truth is more complicated, as ALG News has reported, and in truth it is because of government’s loose dollar and easy credit policies that the nation finds itself in its current malaise.

Today's Democrats are nothing like Presidents Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy, who with courage and decisive action kept on top of their jobs and aggressively confronted one national defense crisis after another.
Jimmy Carter, elected during the Cold War with the Soviet Union, and (1) believing Americans had an inordinate fear of communism, (2) lifted U.S. citizens' travel bans to Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam and Cambodia and (3) pardoned draft evaders.
President Carter (4) also stopped B-1 bomber production, (5) gave away our strategically located Panama Canal and (6) made human rights the central focus of his foreign policy.
That led Carter, a Democrat, (7) to make a monumental miscalculation and withdraw U.S. support for our long-standing Mideast military ally, the Shah of Iran. (8) Carter simply didn't like the Shah's alleged mistreatment of imprisoned Soviet spies.
The Soviets, (9) with close military ties to Iraq, a 1,500-mile border with Iran and eyes on Afghanistan, aggressively tried to encircle, infiltrate, subvert and overthrow Iran's government for its oil deposits and warm-water ports several times after Russian troops attempted to stay there at the end of WWII. These were all communist threats to Iran that Carter never understood.
Carter (10) thought Ayatollah Khomeini, a Muslim exile in Paris, would make a fairer Iranian leader than the Shah because he was a religious man. (11) With U.S. support withdrawn, the Shah was overthrown, and (12) the ayatollah returned and promptly proclaimed Iran an Islamic nation. (13) Executions followed. Palestinian hit men were hired to secretly eliminate the opposition so the religious mullahs couldn't be blamed.
Iran's ayatollah (14) then introduces the idea of suicide bombers to the Palestine Liberation Organization and paid $35,000 to PLO families whose young people were brainwashed to attack and kill as many Israeli citizens as possible by blowing themselves up. This inhumane menace has grown unchallenged.
The ayatollah (15) next created and financed with Iran's oil wealth Hezbollah, a terrorist organization that later bombed our barracks in Beirut, killing 241 Marines and sailors. With Iran's encouragement this summer, (16) Hezbollah attacked Israel and started a war that damaged Lebanon and (17) diverted the world's attention from Iran's nuclear bomb program.
In November 1979, Iranians, including (18) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, their current puppet president who was elected in an unfree, rigged election in which opponents were intimidated into not running, (19) stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and held 52 U.S. personnel hostage for 444 days.
Carter, after nearly six months, (20) belatedly attempted a poorly executed rescue with only six Navy helicopters (three were lost or disabled in sandstorms) and Air Force planes with Delta Force commandos. The mission was aborted, but foul-ups on the ground resulted in a loss of eight aircraft, five airman and three Marines. The bungled plan was never put down on paper for the Joint Chiefs to evaluate. Just a thought.......Tell me what you think ....
BUT,
After seeing all the blogging BS and lies floating around, it makes me wonder why an immigrant (a legal one) who decides to become a citizen of the USA has to take a test;
BUT,
To vote, which is our right as a citizen, one doesn't have to take a test to see if he has the smarts to vote or even understand the issues??
I have talked to people and researched all over (internet, books, newspapers, etc) and I have heard and read so many ignorant reasons for voting for their particular candidate ... Even to the point of voting for a candidate because of their sex, the color of their skin, based on rumors that someone tells them, or they like the candidates spouse, pet, or just plain old, "I don't know, everyone I know is?", or I didnt like the last administration so I think we need a different party ... Not understanding that the other party is a lot like the person of the party they dont like (sorry if that is confusing for some of you); or they dont understand that the majority party of congress also has a lot to do wth decisions of the administration even if the congress is an opposite party. WTF!!!!
If you cant understand what a candidate stands for; their issues and policies; what their party stands for; or if you dont have a good reason and just go on your lame excuses or fears, maybe you shouldn't vote. I doubt that many people on this site are on here for much more than jumping on a bandwagon and spewing BS; but there are a few who seem to really now what's up.
Do many of you understand that there are people who are planted in here from each party instigating bloggers to get hateful, call names, and just confuse the uninformed to vote by enticing them with lies and not fact?
Well, again, voting should be taken seriously and all the candidates and all the issues and policies and solutions should be intensely studied by each individual without prejudgement, and predisposal to one party or another, with an open-mind. If you cant do that, then maybe you shouldnt vote. It feels so much like the blind leading the blind in this election especially, to the point that I have heard liberals called conservative and vice versa!!! Go figure! That tells me that so many have no clue and are NOT voting on actuality.
It doesnt help that we do NOT have a balanced and unbiased media! They trick us into making us think like they do. If you study the media, it for the most part, grossly leans to the left, although there are few out there who lean right too. But the majority of media is very left wing. We just need to have the smarts to figure out the actual truth, since the media for the most part wont report just fact. We all need to take it upon ourselves to learn about all the issues!!!
SO WHAT IS YOUR INPUT ON THIS? SERIOUSLY, AND IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IMMATURE, UNFORMED COMMENTS ... DONT BOTHER TO INPUT ANYTHING. TAKE VOTING SERIOUSLY....ALL OF OUR LIVES ARE IN EACH VOTER'S HANDS.

Why so many lies in this campaign?? Having to lie, in my opinion, truly shows one's insecurity. Flip flopping is another sign of insecurity. This interview is refreshing and to me, gives me a sense of calm and security.
Are so many of us really buying into the lies being put out almost constantly in commercials? To me, a candidate who has to constantly run smear commercials, constantly blasting the other candidate really makes me wonder how many lies and dirty politics would be used in the White House while running (or should I add an "i" and say ruining?) America. All I want to hear is what will be done to run my country and experience in doing that, the issues and what will be done about them. This video is very straightforward in doing just that. I'm tired of the whining and name calling I am hearing in this campaign, and on this site too. And also, I DON'T WANT TO SHARE THE WEALTH WHEN I HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO GET WHERE I AM AND SOMEONE WHO IS LAZY WILL BE SUPPORTED BY ME!!!! So, I started looking into Obama's life.
Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at
Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. 'Barry' (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.
During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family. My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It's not cheap to say the least! Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a
Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.
By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association'. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which is Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he was running for office in Chicago. In 2003,
Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price).
With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's
new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign, a pugnacious, ideological crusade against big government and interventionist leanings in the Republican party, will officially end Thursday at a rally outside the Texas GOP's convention, ABC News has learned.
Paul told supporters back in March, in a video posted on his Web site, that he was "winding down" his campaign and planning a new phase to what he and fans call their "revolution."
