Every once in awhile an article is written that begs this question… Hey, do you trust the medical community?
Well, I don’t! There's a constant boast coming out of this community, that only "they" (believers that a medical degree, means GOD, alumni) can make you live longer, as though all those millions of years of evolution that had gradually eliminated (take or leave a million years or so) the weak so they no longer reproduce, allowing the strong to multiply (until an ice age or global warming event made extinct the healthy strong ones, who could not adapt, through no fault of their own) were all for naught. “They” convince us that if we don’t DOCTOR and swallow Big Pharma's pills, we will die much sooner than we would like to. Most of the time early death comes by outside (our body) influences; such as polluted air, contaminated water and food, and MARKETERS who advertise and brainwash us to buy products that they are quite aware will eventually make us very sick and, in the course of time, bump us off. (Oh and let us not forget Guns legally carried around by any nut with a chip on his shoulder) In our culture of greed, if there’s a buck to be made, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
And that’s the truth (as I see it)… pfffft! thinkingblue

Kratom has been around for centuries. It helps countless people everyday who deal with chronic pain, anxiety, ADD, and high blood pressure. Right now there is a media witch hunt against Kratom , in which the media spreads blatant lies about its effects and lumps it in with synthetic compounds like Spice and Bath Salts. Kratom is an ancient plant related to the coffee plant, 100% natural. If you dig into the truth I am sure Big Pharma is at the bottom of this media slander campaign, because Big Pharma stands to lose lots of money to this tree. There is little research done on Kratom, but there are thousands of individuals who vouch for it's health benefits and believe it has helped to provide quality of life when dealing with debilitating ailments.
It would be such a loss for the public to miss out on the beneficial aspects of this plant. Research needs to be done. To paint Kratom as a villain without taking the benefits into account is completely irresponsible. In my opinion Kratom should be in a similar category to kava kava..and coffee... responsible use has great benefits.
I wanted to post a link to where the other side of the kratom discussion exists. It is a worldwide community of responsible kratom users. In order to get a well balanced picture you have to listen to all sides of the discussion and not rely on inaccurate false news reports:
It is my hope that someone with the skill set could do a story on the broad spectrum of people who benefit from Kratom. There are too many sensationalized news reports filled with lies out there. I used to believe that the media had some sort of balance, but not any more. But that's why Current TV is such a blessing .. Its one of the last bastions of large scale true television reporting.

This video conflates various clips of Alex Jones infamous appearance on the Pier Morgan show on gun control, January 8, 2013 as recapped by Howard Stern with an edit of Alex Jones from his May 19, 2008 broadcast. Jones explains how Howard Stern tried to get him to come on the Howard Stern Show, but Jones refused.
This was around the same time or shortly before Jones' radio program was picked up by XM and then shortly before the merger of XM and Sirius satellite Radio. This is curious because Stern appears to or pretends to not be aware of Jones in 2013. (NaturalNews) What was the most deadly element involved in the mass murder of 12 people and the wounding of 58 others at the packed Aurora, Colo., theater premier of the newest "Batman" movie last summer?
Was it the AR-15-type weapon used by James Holmes? The shotgun he had with him? The handgun he used?
As it turns out it was probably a psychotropic medication he was most likely taking, a point raised by Natural News' Jon Rappoport in August, just weeks after the massacre.
Holmes had been treated by a psychiatrist
The Denver Post reported Jan. 7 that, according to newly released court papers, police removed a number of prescription medication bottles - four, to be exact - from Holmes' apartment shortly after clearing it of explosives in the days following the July 20 shootings. They also seized immunization records.
"The disclosures come in a back-and-forth between prosecutors and defense attorneys over whether those items should be subject to doctor-patient confidentiality. The judge ultimately ruled in October that prosecutors could keep the items," the paper said, adding that the names of the medications had been redacted from court documents.
This shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anyone who's been following the correlation between these dangerous psychotropic drugs and mass murder. After all, earlier reports confirmed that Holmes was indeed being seen by a psychiatrist [http://www.nytimes.com], so there's a better-than-average chance he, too, was on one of these dangerous medications.
The same is true in the most recent shooting tragedy. We know that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, had psychological problems. We know, from what Louise Tambascio, a family friend of the shooter and his mother, told the CBS News program, "60 Minutes," that Lanza "was on medication and everything....I knew he was on medication, but that's all I know."
But what was he taking? What was Holmes taking? That we don't know - yet.
Like us David Kupelian, the managing editor for WorldNetDaily, is asking the right questions.
"It has been more than three weeks since the shooting. We know all about the guns he used, but what 'medication' may he have used?" he wrote shortly after the Lanza murders. "So, what is the truth? Where is the journalistic curiosity? Where is the follow-up? Where is the police report, the medical examiner's report, the interviews with his doctor and others?" writes David Kupelian at WorldNetDaily [http://www.wnd.com]
And yet the national debate, if you can call it that, is focused strictly on the gun control and the Second Amendment, as evidenced by Vice President Joe Biden's declaration that President Obama plans to use executive power to implement new gun control regulations via the federal agencies that fall under the Executive Branch, and New York Gov. Mario Cuomo's promise to enact in his state the country's toughest gun control laws.
As usual, though, the corporate media has failed in its role as watchdog and truth-seeker. It has been left to alternative news outlets like ours and a few others to ask those probing, important questions: What kind of drugs were Holmes and Lanza taking? Who prescribed them? And these questions: What are some of the side effects of those medications? Can such medications cause patients to become violent?
The medications-equals-violence link is well-established
Here's why it is vitally important for Americans to know what kind of medications Lanza and Holmes were taking - because of earlier, high-profile cases involving guns and psychotropic medications:
-- Columbine killer Eric Harris was taking Luvox which, like similar drugs Prozac and Zoloft are widely prescribed antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Luvox manufacturer Solvay Pharmaceuticals admitted that every 1 in 25 patients taking the drug developed mania, a dangerous condition leaving the patient violence-prone.
-- Patrick Purdy went on a shooting rampage in a schoolyard in Stockton, Calif., in 1989, an incident that triggered the initial push to ban "assault weapons." Purdy, who killed five and wounded 30, had been taking the antidepressant Amitriptyline and the anti-psychotic drug Thorzine.
-- Fifteen-year-old Kip Kinkel killed his parents in 1998 then went to his school, Thurston High in Springfield, Ore., the next day and fired on his classmates, killing two and wounding 22 more. He was on Prozac and Ritalin.
There are many, many more examples, but you get the point: There exists a distinct link between psychotropic drugs and violence, yet virtually no one in the public policy realm or the media (both of which depend on Big Pharma for donations or advertising dollars) wants to talk about it.

What’s more trendy than Ritalin, Celebrex, and Zoloft? In our Big Pharma culture where pharmaceutical drugs are not just the norm but fully embraced as badges to display to the public, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have teamed up with one designer to create a‘designer’ bag laced with major Big Pharma prescription pills. And for a mere $55,000, the Olsen twins designer bag can be your own.
Like many, you’re probably wondering ‘who would ever buy such a thing?’ As amazing as it may be, the Olsen twins former bag design (sold under ‘The Row’ brand) completely sold out when priced at $39,000. The new bag sports black leather covered with prescription pills like Viagra and various others.
More important than the outrageous prices, however, is what the new bag design reveals about our culture. Pharmaceutical drugs have now entered the realm of fashion, with anti-depressant drugs becoming trendy and unique as a result of Big Pharma marketing and the mainstream media.
Thanks to savvy press relations activity, pharmaceutical drugs like Prozac now represent much more than the side-effect riddled (such as the link between Prozac and suicide, the very thing it seeks to prevent) formulations that they actually are. Instead of glorifying exercise, nutritional changes, and mental health changes, outlets like television and the mainstream media have framed certain pharmaceuticals as trendy and cool. This is exacerbated by the fact that a large number of young individuals ( half of all US citizens) are now dosed up with these pills, and actually not being on Prozac while attending school may be strange.
Through social circles and society at large, using and abusing these pills has become trendy. Telling everyone about how you have clinical depression and popping Prozac makes some feel special, and it has become a mainstream activity.
Now, it is being embedded on one of the most sought after fashion items of the season. The bag glamorizes rampant drug use, more specially the use of Big Pharma’s legal drugs — legal drugs that have killed more then heroin and cocaine combined.
As the fashion site ‘TooFab’ mentions, the same pharmaceutical drugs also killed longtime friend of the Olsen twins Heath Ledger. Overdosing on legal painkillers, sleeping pills and anti-anxiety pharmaceuticals, this bag now manifests the very same drugs that killed Ledger, Michael Jackson, and helped fuel the rage of many shooters.
The sick (literally) intrusion of Big Pharma into popular culture is a blatant case of corporate influence over trends and should be vehemently opposed. Taking toxic medications with over 500 side effects in many cases should not be glorified among young teen girls and others....

At this very moment, your body is under direct assault. At the cellular level, your biology is being attacked in such a manner that it is actually altering your very genetic coding. Your DNA is under consistent bombardment through not only the food you are eating, but by environmental factors that are literally ripping apart your DNA. Fragmenting your genetic blueprint, the ‘fingerprint’ of your humanity.
It’s all been admitted in peer-reviewed research that is continually ignored by the mainstream medical establishment. In fact, major government groups backed by financial corporate interests are actually streamlining the very biology-crushing technology that is to blame for an explosive rate of disease across the nation. Despite being linked to sterility, infant mortality, organ damage, depletion of micro-organisms within the biosphere (essential for the cultivation of food on our planet), mutant insects and ‘super’ weeds, the USDA has actually decided to fast-track biotechnology giant Monsanto’s approval process.
Upwards of 90 plus percent of many different crops are already genetically modified and placed on your dinner plates — a number that is not satisfactory for Monsanto, who now seeks to dominate 100% of the entire agricultural industry with its genetic manipulation.
Chemicals like BPA line the plastics used by millions worldwide, and despite being linked in hundreds of studies to cancer (particularly breast cancer), the FDA has repeatedly sided with the multi-billion dollar BPA industry, who will generate over 8 billion dollars by creating more than 4.7 million metric tons of death-linked BPA this year. This is a chemical that has peer-reviewed research has tied to diabetes, heart disease, cancer, behavioral disorders, and many other conditions.
The healthcare juggernaut that is the mainstream medical establishment also continues to pump out pharmaceutical drugs that are now known to kill more people per year than traffic-related fatalities. In 2009, it was conservatively estimated that pharmaceutical drugs trumped traffic fatalities with around 37,485 deaths nationwide. The overall death toll regarding known pharmaceutical drug deaths and medical mistakes alone, only around 10% of which are believed to accurately be reported, comes in at 783,936 per year.
On average, a pharmaceutical drug contains 70 side effects. Many contain around 525. These side effects may include death, or in the case of drugs like Prozac, suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Of course the link between Prozac and suicide was covered up for decades by the drug maker Eli Lilly & Co. In 2005 it was revealed by a Hardvard-based whistle blower who released the information to the public, proving to the world that Eli Lilly lied for over 15 years and covered up studies linking Prozac use to suicide. In his own words, he said the public was being treated like ‘guinea pigs’.
The same events can be interchanged with virtually any drug company, many of which are now being forced to pay millions for false advertising and the resulting deaths that came from the use of their products.
In the realm of chemotherapy, it is now being admitted that the procedure actually kills patients more quickly and destroys the body itself.
I am not here to scare you into isolation. I am not here to sell you a solution in a bottle. This is what we are facing.
It is up to YOU to sound the alarm and restore order to the medical paradigm. We now have the opportunity to either sit idly by and allow ourselves to succumb to the healthcare juggernaut that lives within the United States or take back our health. The information surrounding the healing power of natural herbs and whole food items is bountiful, with studies finding that turmeric and ginger alone shrink tumors by anywhere from 50-81% in a number of weeks. Alternative cancer treatment centers are being targeted by the United States government and natural healers are being imprisoned for selling organic herbs from their own farms.
The time is now to reclaim our health freedom, and it requires YOUR involvement.

Francois T pointed to a post at the blog Health Care Renewal that summarizes an important insider report at the British Medical Journal on how much so-called medical research is of dubious validity, and performed to give talking points for marketing rather than to improve the lives of patients.
The reports on the corruption is big Pharma “research” are so rife that this account hardly qualifies as news. For fun, I dug up the notes from a 2004 study in which I interviewed some experts on drug company marketing. The reason? Even then, it was seen as the most effective, and a big financial services client was keen to see what techniques they could adopt from it. Even then, it was clear “research” was seen as key to effective selling. Per one interviewee, on sales reps:
Creativity is NOT what you want for this job. You do not want someone who is creative in their dealings with doctors. Everything they say is according to very strict guidelines…The words they can share with the doctor are all carefully crafted and screened by the FDA. They can’t deviate from the script. If they deviate, they get in trouble, they get the company in trouble along with them. All the scandals in the industry were the salesforce management and the company, not the sales reps.
One reason Pfizer is effective is new product introductions. There is so much revenue and expectation behind it that they get the sales force keyed up about it. They know from the FDA when a product is going to be coming to market. They have the launches in nice places. They fly all the salesforce in, 500 people to a launch in Florida. They bring in entertainment, motivational speakers. Senior management flies down. There is a rigorous presentation fo the program and the product, information on the product, its advantages and disadvantages relative to the competitors.
They also have three times a year meetings to update the sales management on all the currently marketed products. They are called POA, plan of action meetings. It is whatever that will be new from a marketing standpoint over the next six months Each brand marketing group has to come up with new material to keep the sales force interested, like new data from recent studies. If they don’t have something new, the salesforce loses its edge. It also includes promotional pieces, like notepads, pens, It may seem silly, but the doctors love this stuff. And if a doctor says, bring me 5 more of those pens, my friends like them, it does maek a difference. You don’t like to think that stuff like that influences what a doctor prescribes, but it does.
And keep in mind, the costs of manipulated research findings are real. Cathy O’Neil, aka mathbabe, wrote up one of the most deadly cases, Vioxx. The summary of her detailed post:(more at link)Posted: 04 Jul 2012 11:01 PM PDT Francois T pointed to a post at the blog Health... more

The article specifically states that "Propranolol had no effect on a different measure of "explicit" racial prejudice, religious and sexual prejudice, or prejudice against drug addicts" but the headline alleges that the drug "combats racism."
Volunteers given the beta-blocker, used to treat chest pains and lower heart rates, scored lower on a standard psychological test of "implicit" racist attitudes.
Experimental psychologist Dr Sylvia Terbeck, from Oxford University, who led the study published in the journal Psychopharmacology, said: "Our results offer new evidence about the processes in the brain that shape implicit racial bias.
"Implicit racial bias can occur even in people with a sincere belief in equality. Given the key role that such implicit attitudes appear to play in discrimination against other ethnic groups, and the widespread use of propranolol for medical purposes, our findings are also of considerable ethical interest."
Two groups of 18 participants took part in the study. Each volunteer was asked to undertake a "racial Implicit Association Test" (IAT) one to two hours after taking propranolol or the placebo.
The test involved categorising positive and negative words, and pictures of black and white individuals, on a computer screen.
More than a third of the volunteers had a "negative" IAT score, meaning they were biased towards being non-racist at a subconscious level. This was not seen in any member of the placebo group.
Propranolol had no effect on a different measure of "explicit" racial prejudice, religious and sexual prejudice, or prejudice against drug addicts.
These were tested using a "feeling thermometer" psychological tool used for assessing explicit prejudice. Volunteers were asked to rate how "warm" they felt towards different groups on a 10-point scale analogous to a thermometer.
The scientists wrote: "The main finding of our study is that propranolol significantly reduced implicit but not explicit racial bias."LOL. at junk science and deceptive journalism. The article specifically states that... more
Former fellow of George Soros’ Open Society and current Stanford University scholar Evgeny Morozov has called on Google and other search engines to become thought crime enforcers, by providing warnings about websites that contain “conspiracy theories” such as the belief, held by a majority of Americans, that global warming is not primarily man-made.
Morozov, whose biography confirms him as a well-connected insider, decries in a Slate piece how the Internet is a useful tool for “People who deny global warming” as well as “the anti-vaccination movement,” calling on Google to provide a “socially responsible curated treatment” that would marginalize such beliefs by amending search results.
His solution is to, “Nudge search engines to take more responsibility for their index and exercise a heavier curatorial control in presenting search results for issues like “global warming” or “vaccination.” Google already has a list of search queries that send most traffic to sites that trade in pseudoscience and conspiracy theories; why not treat them differently than normal queries? Thus, whenever users are presented with search results that are likely to send them to sites run by pseudoscientists or conspiracy theorists, Google may simply display a huge red banner asking users to exercise caution and check a previously generated list of authoritative resources before making up their minds.”
Morozov describes the potential that such a move will be judged as Google “shilling for Big Pharma or for Al Gore” as “a risk worth taking”.
This represents a similar argument to Cass Sunstein’s “cognitive infiltration,” an effort by Obama’s information czar to slap government warnings on controversial websites (including those claiming that exposure to sunlight is healthy). In a widely derided white paper, Sunstein called for political blogs to be forced to include pop ups that show “a quick argument for a competing view”. He also demanded that taxes be levied on dissenting opinions and even suggested that outright bans on certain thoughts should be enforced.
Giving companies like Google, which has grown to virtually become the gatekeeper of the entire Internet itself and is already engaging in SOPA-like acts of censorship, the power to denote which political and scientific positions are acceptable and which are fringe “conspiracy theories” is an insult to free thinking and smacks of Chinese-style thought control.
Morozov’s argument is also completely undermined by the fact that the two so-called fringe “conspiracy theories” he forwards as being in need of Google’s thought crime control, skepticism about global warming and the dangers of vaccines, are views held by millions of Americans and are not “fringe” at all.
According to the most recent polls, less than half of Americans now believe that global warming is caused by human activity, a number that has been slipping for the past several years.

The United States has a passion for pills, being the world's biggest users of psychotropic drugs, consuming 60 per cent of them. And pharmaceutical firms are keen to keep cashing in on the multibillion-dollar market, even if it costs people's health.
America is regarded as a country with a prodigious appetite for consumption. Today, a widespread fondness for pharmaceuticals has turned the US into a nation of pill-poppers.
With over $14 billion in annual sales, antipsychotics remain the top-selling therapeutic class of prescription drugs in the US.
Dr. Harriet Fraad believes Big Pharma has manufactured a climate of insanity by manipulating and even creating illness for capital gain.
“One of the things that drives Big Pharma is to find a diagnosis that is very vague, so that everybody can fall into that,” she told RT. “Everybody is sad sometimes. There are good reasons. The point is to market pharmaceuticals. And the advertising strategy is to have vague diagnosis and then find wiggle room so that they apply to everyone.”
The US is the only Western country that allows direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs. For example, an ad for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder warns that untreated patients will likely end up divorced. Another commercial promises to make you happier, but side-effects may include dry mouth, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, diarrhea, nausea and sleepiness.”
Critics also say Big Pharma uses its financial muscle to ply doctors with gifts, cash kick-backs and research funding in exchange for endorsing or prescribing the latest and most lucrative drugs.
Harriet Fraad says there is a whole network of doctors hustling these drugs.
“If a patient comes in with a knee injury and says, ‘I’m so sad.’ Oh, are you depressed? Hey write a prescription! They’re given out like M&Ms.”
Last year, prescription drug abuse became the number one cause of accidental death, with more than 30,000 Americans overdosing.
For instance, Seroquel, medication for bi-polar disorder, generated $4.4 billion in sales last year.Listing all its side-effects requires 49 seconds of air-time.
The number of children consuming antipsychotic medication has doubled in the past decade. Millions of American adolescents are taking drugs like Adderall, doled out by doctors to treat hyperactivity.
Author of Surviving America’s Depression Epidemic, psychologist Bruce Levine, told RT that, “All these drugs are very similar to illicit or illegal drugs, except they’re more dangerous. Marijuana is a little safer. But kids have no choice.”
Pfizer, America’s most profitable multinational pharmaceutical company makes anti-depressants not only for people, but also for animals. In 2009, the pharmaceutical giant paid $2.3 billion to settle civil and criminal allegations over illegally marketing one of its drugs. It was the largest healthcare fraud settlement and criminal fine in US history. That being said, the fine amounted to less than three weeks of Pfizer’s drug sales.
“The money is so huge that the fines are immaterial. They’re not thinking about the social effects of what they’re doing. They’re thinking about the profits they accrue,” says psychotherapist Harriet Fraad.
The pharmaceutical industry remains the most profitable business in the US. More success and financial gain for the companies will always remain possible as long as more Americans are encouraged to take drugs. The United States has a passion for pills, being the world's biggest users of... more
Fifteen states plus the District of Columbia have laws permitting medical marijuana, but the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has raided medical marijuana suppliers and even arrested patients, because on a federal level, possessing or distributing marijuana is still considered a criminal offense
In 2009, the U.S. Justice Department told federal prosecutors to lay off Americans producing and using medical marijuana in accordance with state laws, but this year in a blatant about-face, the Obama administration declared that only seriously ill patients and caregivers would be spared from arrest
Recently, a series of attacks against the medical marijuana industry have occurred, including threats against banks and landlords that do business with those in the industry. Also, the IRS has denied medical cannabis facilities in California the right to file standard expense deductions. These strong-arm tactics put the medical marijuana industry in jeopardy, and may force those who depend on it for medical purposes to resort to the black market
Research shows medical marijuana holds promise in the treatment of over 100 health conditions, including cancer, autoimmune diseases, pain, glaucoma, asthma, psychiatric conditions and high blood pressure.
Fifty percent of Americans now support the legalization of marijuana

Vaccinating just half the population against human papilloma virus (HPV) only solves half the problem.
Now that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that girls and young women be vaccinated against the disease that can lead to cervical cancer, the treatment's effectiveness with regard to the male population is beginning to come into the limelight. In fact, the CDC is now considering recommending the shot for boys as well, according to Health Day.
From Health Day:
A debate that's been simmering over whether males also should be vaccinated for human papillomavirus, or HPV, could come to a head in October at a meeting of a key advisory committee of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said CDC spokesman Tom Skinner.
Previous studies have shown that the HPV vaccine could even have a more powerful effect than simply immunizing males against the disease and protecting women. According to Science Daily, one study showed that giving the vaccine to men could prevent as many as 90 percent of genital warts cases.
A study published in March also said that almost half of the male population of the US could be infected with HPV.
The issue of immunizing girls to the virus has returned to the limelight recently amidst the GOP Presidential debates. Notably, Texas Governor Rick Perry's 2007 mandate to require young girls to be vaccinated against the disease has drawn criticism from fellow conservatives.
According to Everyday Health, the measure was overridden in 2008.
While the safety of the HPV vaccine is generally established and still remains recommended by the government health agency, it has been shown in some studies to be associated with anaphylaxis, blood clots and fainting, and linked with some deaths.
