Dear "THUSHARI J -A MEMBER" , sadly your desire that "SAG should go into production" was exactly what Doug Allen had as a plan when he was hired as our NED. He did an amazing thing over at the NFL Players Union as their NED before coming to SAG; he created Players Inc and as understand it, generated so much money for the union that the players' dues were refunded to them. The NFL Players Union apparently operates now without requiring dues at all from its members.
I am baffled at the dedication the SAG NY Board, most of the regional Board, and the United for Strength people commit to rolling back the Screen Actors Union. I want to know how they are planning to sell the SAG membership on this shitty contract. It is truly the worst contract I have ever seen presented.
Virtually every single provision and protection this union has fought for over the last 75 years os about to be given away in New Media, which is where we will all be working soon. And FOR WHAT? The ONLY thing that carries over to the New Media contract in the AMPTP's proposal is a contribution to Pension & Health.
No basic minimums.
No protections for minors
No protections for infants
No stunt safety
No basic minimums (except what is provided by the minimum labor rates in which the state you're working)
No overtime (see state provisions above)
No meal penalties
No forced call protections
No Force Majeure protections
No specified meal breaks
No clip consent (so the Media Corporations can then use your image and clips of your work for what ever they choose without your consent)
AND PERMISSION TO THE MEDIA CORPORATIONS TO DO NON-UNION WORK.
Tell me, was Doug Allen forced out because he saw how bad this deal was?
Was the negotiating committee disbanded, of which I was a member, because we saw how bad this contract was and wanted to save the membership from a certain financial problems?
Is Alan Rosenberg being prohibited from "speaking for the Guild" because he wants to protect this hard-earned contract for which other members sacrificed?
If you're baffled, too, MAKE SOME NOISE.

I support those who disagree with Mr. Masur.
I support Mr. Rosenberg because we have a right to speak up.
The studios will say what they want because they are also
negotiating with us. If the boards is new, SAG board should get a workshop from AFL-CIO.
I feel that the Current Board is not representing a large number of
actors fairly, nor is the board looking at any restructuring plans.
I believe that the board is looking to just give everything to the studios
and take back the labor movement to the dark ages.
I support fair win win negotiations, but studio is taking unfair advantage
by unfair negotiation tactics, using their power of media only to highlight their view, & use subtle threats and put SAG on a leash, then I begin to support those who are right until a balance is achieved. Mr. Masur, there is no balance now.
If Mr. Rosenberg is denied a voice, why did a majority of us Vote for him?
We like what he has to say. He is fair & gives a great view. We trusth him.
He and his team brings up valid points. He is looking at whole of SAG not just
the upper crust actor/producers. Can you handle that?
Top actor/producers and their agents who make side deals with studios have cannibalized their own union who helped them get the money.
Here are some wild ideas:
You know what I suggest, lets restructure everything. Why not? The industry has changed. Then how can we go on the same system when most of our wage/work needs are not being met? Unions goals' should change as to how it can help the actor--be a true labor union.SAG should go into production. SAG site should have our work. Some like me work hard and get in the union, then end up with nothing to show for it. Corruption & Stagnation has set in SAG, and these politic games are runing SAG.
SAG is for the actor, our working rights. Mr. Masur will you give us more jobs to meet our healthcare & pension needs? Will you give us job security & guarantees? There was never a guarantee, its who you know, its talent. Well most of us do have some talent, then where are the union jobs? Where is the union pay. DVDs are a billion dollar industry Mr. Masur. Where is the SAG actors' cut on that?
Mr. Masur, what are the current boards negotiations plan & strategy?
Will there be transparency? And what are the ethics about a former director negotiating for the management? Why is it that you are saying we should be only nice nice when studios may use hidden tactics? Because if this is a business-an industry(threats that industry will loose millions if actors, strike (we here that often enough) then so should the studios adhere to business practices, laws & regulations.

I hope so for a better future for all us actors who joined a union to do professional work with professional pay.

(after struggling for about three & half years to make it on her own terms to be

I am not sure what Mr Mazur is trying to accomplish, other than turning the public away even more than they already are, due to sick of all the crazy low-blow drama. Infighting.

A large rickety truck driven by a teamster carrying 5 clowns doing toota toota toota honking noise was heading straight towards everyone.The clowns were wearing referee outfits in black & white. The truck came to a screeching halt barely missing Bad Ginger's boots.
This alarmed Bad Ginger who took a step back.
Moongseys unleaned themselves from the fence at this new situation.
The Moongsey who was the head rep for the biggest studio in town glared at low-mid-hi actors & questioned 'who asked to send in the clowns?"
Unnoticed for a while, The Berg drew himself tall dusting some imaginary lint off his denim jacket, 'My dear Moongseys I Did" it was just a simple call to Central, I asked them to find me 5 union performers who had colorful clown outfits,horns & a referee unifom--It was a rush call'
Annoyed by this, Bad Ginger said 'if all yr 92% supporters r picketing where did these moving props come from? wats going on? i throw the surprises around here!!'
The Berg says 'well Bad, 6% high highlander celebs r with u but u forgot a 1% who never gets work, they always ready to be hired. anytime.and Bad theres more of them, 1260 give or take a few. And not everyone of them is -the correct term is background performers-& all of them are not background performers, many background perfs are picketing here today as they get jobs, Bad & Moongseys, but these guys & gals never get a job.'
To everyone's surpise more trucks arrived with colorfully & strangely costumed performers from Hollywood OS & those who self submit, there were some actors of yesteryear who hadnt gotten any work in ages & ages.
The Moongseys who never really paid any attention to them was kinda entertained. "What's yr game Bergy Berg?" Bad Ginger hissed!
'The game Bad is we gonna play little bit of ball" the Berg declared picking up a baseball from the ground & throwing it up couple of times.
The honking stopped. silence all around. No one spoke for a long time. Then one of the clowns jumped down sayin 'I m a hardcore funnyman Dougie Fresh'
