'My innocent boy was locked up with killers over rape lie'
12:30pm Wednesday 25th February 2009
Exclusive By Katie Wilson »
The mother of a 14-year-old boy who was falsely accused of rape by a fellow pupil has spoken of her anger after her innocent son was held for five months with “murderers and gang members”.
The trial collapsed after a single day in court as it emerged that the girl, 14, could have lied about being raped to hide the fact she had tried to skip school.
The boy’s mother told the Wandsworth Guardian she was furious that the girl would get off “scot-free” while her son had to spend months on remand in a secure unit, miles from home, while waiting to be tried.
The schoolgirl from Putney claimed she had been raped by two boys, aged 13 and 14, at her home.
She had claimed the boys came to her house on October 16 and threatened to take her hostage, before taking it in turns to rape her.
However, the case collapsed at Inner London Crown Court last week because of conflicting evidence.
None of the teenagers can be identified for legal reasons.
The girl is unlikely to face any criminal charges for wasting police time because officials fear it could prevent other rape victims from coming forward.
The teenage boy’s mother said: “My son was banged up in a secure unit with murderers and gang members miles from home all on this girl’s say so, which turned out to be a load of rubbish.
“The whole story was lies right from the beginning and I can’t believe it went as far as it did.
“Now nothing will even happen to her as the Crown Prosecution Service has said it won’t prosecute her for wasting police time as it might stop real rape victims coming forward.
“I know measures need to be in place for real rape victims, but this shouldn’t have happened to two young boys.
“Now they have the stigma of all their friends knowing what they were accused of.
“No support has been given to them even though the case has been dropped. We’ve had no apology from the police and she gets off scot-free. It’s just wrong.”
The boys, both from Putney, always denied their involvement in the alleged rape and insisted the girl let them in to her house that day as they were all going to “bunk off ” school together.
A police spokeswoman said: “We are not in a position to comment as this may have a negative impact on victims coming forward.”'My innocent boy was locked up with killers over rape lie'

Authorities in Colorado said they have located three teens whose mother allegedly violated a court order in a custody battle when she took them from Florida in 1997.
Teller County, Colo., sheriff's Deputy Mikel Baker said the 15-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were in protective custody after they were found at a Colorado Springs hotel following an investigation into a note left at a Woodland Park bank.
The three children have been on "missing" posters for 12 years. They were identified on the posters as Bjorn Baumgardner, 19; Kaitlyn Baumgardner, now 17; and Brett Baumgardner, now 15.
The three were expected to be reunited with their father, Denny Baumgardner, whose hometown in Florida wasn't available.

The Church of Scotland attacked the Government's new laws on human fertilisation and embryology yesterday, warning that they will “erase” the role of the father.
Senior figures in the Kirk told The Times that they were “stunned” by the legislation, which allows a man or woman with no biological link to an IVF baby to be registered as a parent. They say that the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008, which comes into force next month, allows “the falsification of information” about the child's identity, which is a “denial of a very basic human right”.

A network of 'safe houses' for male victims of domestic violence has been launched, it emerged today.
The Next Steps Housing Association has created 100 places in 35 refuge houses across Northamptonshire for husbands and partners of abusive women.
They were launched by mother-and-daughter property developers Dawn Hardie and Rachel Allen, who wanted to use their houses to help the disadvantaged.
Miss Hardie said while researching domestic violence refuges she discovered there was virtually no system of support for men who had been beaten by their partners.
She said: 'There is still a very strong stigma attached to men who say they have been the victims of domestic violence. Most of our referrals will only have decided to come forward after being taken to hospital.
'Statistically, men are more likely to be killed in domestic violence cases than women, and yet we found there was absolutely nowhere for these men to go to escape. They seem to be forgotten.
'We have already filled four units, and are getting referrals all the time from Women's Aid and the Sunflower Centre. We are offering full support to the victims, whether it be job advice or housing advice, or psychological support.'
Next Steps Housing, a non-profit organisation, has now been running for almost a month and has three full-time employees.
As well as offering places to male victims, the charity will take on women victims who have older male children and want to be re-homed together.
Miss Hardie added: 'At the moment we receive absolutely no Government funding, but that is something we will try to change and we are in the process of applying for various funding streams.
'One of the men we re-homed actually burst into tears when he came to the refuge.'
Labour MP for Northampton North, Sally Keeble, welcomed the news of the refuges, adding: 'It is important that all victims have a level of support and means to escape a violent relationship.'A network of 'safe houses' for male victims of domestic violence has been... more

There is a gender war now brewing over the reality and consequences of Parental Alienation after divorce.
Rather than taking sides, author Rosalind Sedacca, CCT, is appealing to all divorced mothers and fathers to stop the gender-based blaming, spiting and accusations and focus instead on creating a Child-Centered Divorce.
Sedacca says despite their best efforts, family courts have been failing our children in post-divorce settlements. To compound that, parents are poorly prepared for the challenges of co-parenting or single parenting facing them once the divorce is over.
Recognized as The Voice of Child-Centered Divorce, Sedacca is imploring parents and divorce attorneys to make decisions based on maturity and sanity rather than vindictiveness. She has been fighting to raise parental awareness about the consequences of alienation-based behaviors through her Child-Centered Divorce Network.
“When you mix two egos with dramatically differing perspectives, you’re bound to get an entanglement of emotions compounded by allegations, defensiveness and self-righteousness,” notes Sedacca. “Unfortunately, no one wins when parental alienation runs its course during and after a divorce. And it’s the children in particular who lose in a big way. Many of them are affected for life.”
Sedacca is the author of How Do I Tell the Kids about the Divorce? A Create-a-Storybook Guide to Preparing Your Children -- with Love! The customizable ebook has been acclaimed by psychotherapists, attorneys, mediators, financial planners and other professionals throughout the world for its innovative approach to breaking the news about separation or divorce to children. Her Child-Centered Divorce Network has become a trusted resource for information on creating cooperative, peaceful divorces.
A Certified Corporate Trainer and divorce coach, Sedacca is an Expert Contributor to major divorce organizations and websites world-wide, including: www.divorce360.com, www.divorceinteractive.com, www.parentalwisdom.com, www.childsharing.com, www.mommymentors.com and the National Association of Divorce for Women and Children. She is also the 1st Place winner of the 2008 Victorious Woman of the Year Award, based on the first chapter of her book!
Sedacca addresses many timely topics including:

COLUMBIA, IL (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - More information is coming to light about the party in Columbia, Illinois, where police say a woman delivered a baby in a bathroom then tried to drown the child in a toilet. At the same time, police are raising questions about the state case worker who allowed the woman to keep custody of the very child she was under investigation for trying to kill.
Elyse Mamino's boyfriend is "beyond words", says his attorney, Charles Stegmeyer.
Mamino, 23, is accused of trying to drown their newborn baby girl, Victoria Rae, seconds after delivering her in a bathroom. Police allege she held the child face down in a toilet. Stegmeyer says Mamino's boyfriend and dozens of other people were at the party at either a relative or friend's home in Columbia. Stegmeyer says none of the people at the party had any idea she was pregnant. And once the birth happened, none of them believed the baby was alive.
"There was so much excitement, by that I mean people trying to do whatever they could to help the whole situation, he thought it was the worst scenario. He thought the child was not alive," says Stegmeyer.
Police say Victoria survived not only the attack at her mother's hands, but also a botched investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
"We notified DCFS," says Columbia Police Chief Joe Edwards. "I personally called them that night."
Edwards says his department shared every bit of information it gathered with DCFS investigators from the very beginning, and expressed concern that Mamino was allowed to take her child home from the hospital. The police investigation lasted three months and during that time Mamino kept custody of the very child she was under investigation for trying to kill.
Edwards says they were contacted by the DCFS caseworker and told the state was going to rule the case "unfounded". Police strongly advised against that, and even gave the worker names of people to contact who had critical information about Victoria's safety. Edwards says those people were never contacted. "That information given to the investigator was not followed up on," he says.
Once Columbia Police obtained an arrest warrant, Victoria was removed from Mamino's custody. Columbia Police also alerted Belleville Police to the investigation. A search of Mamino's Belleville apartment turned up the remains of a second infant. The body was badly decomposed.
DCFS spokesman Kendall Marlowe said Illinois law bars him from discussing specifics of the Mamino case, but he confirmed there is a pending investigation into allegations of abuse and neglect based on the report received in November. "We had no contact with this family prior to that date," he says. "DCFS has now taken custody of this child and placed her in the custody of her relatives."
While Stemeyer's client strongly disagrees with police over what Mamino is accused of doing, he shares with them anger at the state. He wants custody of Victoria.
"He's a hardworking fellow and wants his child, his daughter," says Stegmeyer. "He just can't imagine it. His worst nightmare."
Stegmeyer says, if the remains of the second infant are proven to be Mamino's, his client believes he fathered that child as well.
Stegmeyer says they are planning a court fight for custody of Victoria.

"…..Without further details, most people would likely assume that a man was responsible for trapping this woman in such a demeaning situation." Of course many would think just that! It's time WE say enough to the anti-male TV commercials and shows! It's time WE say enough to anti-male law such as VAWA which inspires false domestic abuse allegations! It's time WE say enough to incredible money making business disguised as a support for abused women assuming every man is the abuser. The true abuse victims women AND man are not helped! Yet VAWA promotes false abuse accusations for monetary benefits, to gain custody of children in divorce cases, to gain legal residence and many more reasons for personal gain.
Children and innocent victims pay the price with their life, freedom, happiness.
And, one other note, We must stand up and say enough to double standards. We are influenced and trained to believe that women are repressed, but the truth is men are not treated equally. Just imagine how much media attention this case would bring for a story of a man who was convicted for only 18 months for slavering women. Instead we are not outraged that the WOMAN enslaving other women "was convicted and sentenced for only 18 months".
I am a female and I am outraged! What about you?"…..Without further details, most people would likely assume that a man... more

An independent audit of the Department of Human Services says Oklahoma children are removed from their homes almost twice as much as the national average.
It adds that the number of children in the custody of state child welfare workers places a strain on the state system as well as children and their families.
The $400,000 audit by Hornby Zeller Associates was released Wednesday by House Speaker Chris Benge and other lawmakers.
The audit makes 25 recommendations to improve the system. Among them are making sure that children are removed from their homes only if there is an imminent safety threat and that the agency is involved with local law enforcement officials in all removals of children.

VENUS — Neighbors of a woman accused of trying to drown her 2 1/2 -year-old son say they had reported her to Child Protective Services at least twice before her arrest over the weekend.
Gayla Suzette DeForest had a mental disability and did not appear able to properly care for her son, said Brenda Bratcher, a former neighbor, who said she notified CPS.
The child was often hungry and, when the boy was 18 months old, DeForest asked Bratcher whether it was normal for him to eat his own feces, Bratcher said. His diaper was also often full.
"She didn’t seem to recognize that she was supposed to change him," Bratcher said.
Johnson County sheriff’s officials have said the child was "voluntarily placed with an approved person by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services." Because the child was not in the agency’s custody, CPS spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales said she could not comment on the case or confirm any past contact between the agency and his family.
DeForest, 41, was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of attempted capital murder. DeForest told investigators that she had twice tried to kill her son by holding his head under water in the bathtub after he had "messed his diapers" and smeared feces on the wall, authorities said.
She also said she beat him with a large plastic kitchen spoon, authorities said. She then called the baby sitter and told her what happened, and that if she didn’t come get the boy she might try to kill him again.
The baby sitter went and got the boy, then called authorities.VENUS — Neighbors of a woman accused of trying to drown her 2 1/2... more

For the third time in 22 years, Washington state is leading the nation in family law reform. This time, the report is called the Residential Time Summary Report prepared by the state Office of the Administrator for the Courts. This is a first-in-the-nation compilation of post-divorce breakdown of parenting time for children, mothers and fathers. The numbers are collected case-by-case and county-by-county.
Amazingly, 46 percent of children of divorce, statewide, are ordered to spend a minimum of 35 percent parenting time with their biological fathers. Parenting time is broken down by large percentages, and meaningful shared parenting starts in the range of 30-35 percent. This is about 300 percent better results than anyone could have expected from the time the Parenting Act was first approved. If there ever was any doubt, Washington state is now an official shared-parenting state for families impacted by parental separation.
In 1987, Washington required divorcing parents to detail parenting schedules in Parenting Plan documents that are filed with the court. Over 30 states have adopted this family law reform. Again, in 1991, Washington Department of Social and Health Services first developed and used the Paternity Affidavit for unwed, never-married, fathers. Staffers were pleasantly shocked and surprised with how forthcoming fathers were to provide financial information used to help create child-support ordersFor the third time in 22 years, Washington state is leading the nation in family law... more

Two years ago, Arizona Child Protective Services took Carol Dunlavy's 2-year-old daughter. It was alleged that Dunlavy was purposely making the child sick because Dunlavy suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Like most parents caught up in the system, Dunlavy said she was innocent.
She was right.
Now, 16 months after she said goodbye to her daughter, Sarah (not her real name), Dunlavy finally has validation in the form of an investigation from the Arizona Ombudsman-Citizens' Aide that says what Dunlavy has said all along: that she doesn't have Munchausen syndrome by proxy, that CPS failed to follow its own procedures for removing her child, and that she and Sarah would never have been separated if the agency had actually done its job.
The report is bittersweet for Dunlavy. She's lost almost two years to the case — and the report has resulted, so far, in little more than the re-training of a couple of CPS employees.

Ouch! That shoe hurts when it’s crammed onto the other foot.
It seems that men aren’t the only ones complaining about their lives as non-custodial parents; women are too. And guess what? Their complaints about the family court system are largely the same as men’s.
It’s true that non-custodial mothers have one additional complaint that their male counterparts don’t. Public perceptions of mothers without custody are predictably negative. Since women are assumed by popular culture to be natural parents who place the highest value on childrearing, mothers without custody can feel stigmatized.
But when it comes to visitation and child support, non-custodial mothers are singing close harmony with dads. According to this site, it seems the concept that it’s the noncustodial parent who takes the bigger hit financially is true after all and not something MRAs made up. And this site calls custodial parents “narcissistic” and says that children have a right to both parents. Both parents? It’s good to hear women singing that tune.
And now that I’ve mentioned child support among the litany of their complaints, take a look at this Census Bureau report of 2005 statistics. Apparently paying to support their children is something non-custodial mothers aren’t very good at. They do a poorer job of it than do NC fathers, even though their child support burden is less onerous than men’s.Ouch! That shoe hurts when it’s crammed onto the other foot.

You can imagine how pleased I was when I read Parental Influence Can't Be Overlooked in the Tennessean.Com, my only wish is that parents everywhere would contribute like this to their local papers. If you can't write to your local paper for some reason, at least click the above link and add your comments to the story.
"I have seen firsthand that parent alienation syndrome is very real and have known many adult friends and family members who look back and see that they were brainwashed to hate their other parent for no good cause. They realize now that they were merely pawns in their primary parent’s vindictive game to hurt their non-custodial parent."You can imagine how pleased I was when I read Parental Influence Can't Be... more

In 1690's New England was gripped by the Witch Hunt Hysteria which destroyed the lives of countless innocent people and their families solely by the false testimony of their accusers and the misconduct of their prosecutors.
Today, over 300 years later, a new insidious Rape Hysteria grips a small community in Maine's Bar Harbor region, and again, countless lives are being ruined solely by false testimony of their accusers and the misconduct of their prosecutors.
Numerous men have been arrested and jailed in Ellsworth Maine, often solely because of someone's accusations. Some of the accused men spend many months in jail until they are finally tried on the flimsiest or even fabricated evidence. Virtually every man who is accused gets arrested, charged, and has his life publicly ruined.
The accusers are sometimes young, mentally or emotionally impaired, girlfriends, occasional sex partners, and even wives in bitter custody battles with their husbands.
In a small county of only 50,000 people, as many as 4 men per month have been indicted on multiple counts of Rape, each carrying up to 30 years in prison.
The driving force of this Rape Hysteria is Assistant District Attorney Mary N. Kellett of Brooklin, Maine.
Vladek Filler is a decent, loving, and dedicated father, brother, and son, who decided to leave his 16 year relationship with his wife Ligia Filler (aka Ligia Barrientos), and save their children from her mentally unstable and abusive behavior. Up to the time Mr. Filler decided to leave, his wife repeatedly praised him for being "the most loving and caring man and father that she has ever seen in her entire life," and that he was “the only man for her”.
Vladek Filler tried to leave this relationship in an honorable and civilized manner, but his wife considered it betrayal, and accused him of abandoning her like all others did. Hysterically she declared that the loss of this relationship meant that she "lost in her life". Almost instantly, as she did with all her other relationships, she considered Mr. Filler as her enemy, and made outrageous and filthy allegations against him in an effort to seize custody of their children and punish him for trying to leave her. To achieve this, her allegations had to be outrageous since Mr. Filler was a loving husband of many years whose children loved him and wished to be with him.
Outrageous accusations are all it took to instantly sweep Mr. Filler in to the Rape Hysteria of Ellsworth Maine. In 1690's New England was gripped by the Witch Hunt Hysteria which destroyed the... more

Yes you did, Paternity leave for men is a growing trend in some countries........
Pretoria - South Africa must review its legislation around paternity leave, Minister in the Presidency Manto Tshabalala-Msimang said on Monday.
"It is totally insufficient," said the minister about the three-days paternity leave currently granted to new fathers.
"You know what usually happens, you have legislation, you implement it... then you discover gaps, then you want to review, then amend," the minister told journalists in Pretoria.
She said that while South Africa had "a forward looking" Labour Relations Act, paternity and maternity leave must be reviewed. This was because women did not necessarily enjoy fully paid maternity leave while men only received three days paternity leave.
Tshabala-Msimang said the country was seeing "more and more men attending births of their babies".
"We must encourage family friendly policies... which will encourage a paradigm shift in that employees of both sexes are given the same opportunities to organise their family and work responsibilities," she said. (MORE IN LINK)Did I read this right!??
