It's common knowledge that the charge that evolution is a "random" process is wrong, but there is still the question of what role randomness does play in various aspects of evolution. A team looking at this subject studied the evolution of a body feature in over forty species of flatworm and found that even processes that were thought to be random were actually deterministic. Interesting result.
