Analog Ghosts: Teenanger are a raucous, rootsy garage rock band from Toronto, Canada who wanted to get their music and that of their friends' bands released, but they didn't have the resources. Then it hit them: what is cheaper and easier than cassette tape? They bought a professional grade cassette recorder on ebay for 50 bucks and formed Telephone Explosion Records in 2007. They began recording and releasing limited run albums on tape that also come with mp3 download codes. T.E.R. and other D.I.Y. labels like them are still using this seemingly defunct medium, not only for its accessibility, but also for a sound quality that lends itself to the distorted aesthetic of punk and noise music.Analog Ghosts: Teenanger are a raucous, rootsy garage rock band from Toronto, Canada... more

The arts are a representation of human emotion in a form that can be seen, touched and heard. When an artists labour produces a masterpiece one can be sure that divinity has touched the artist, if even for a brief moment in time.
Film, a form of art that can be accessed by the general populace; allows for the subtle nuances of cinematography to engage the audience in an exhibition of camera angles, shadow and light; letting each monologue take us into the depths of a character's soul; bridging the gap of language and crossing all borders of race, language and ethnicity; painting life in the hues of hope and joy or exposing the crushing reality we live in, day to day, blind to the truth, or dare I say avoiding it. These great artists have allowed themselves to become inspired, invoking the Muses to guide their hands and eyes, capturing greatness on film.
The Spinning Wheel Film Festival has done a great seva (service) by showcasing films which span all genres, giving the audience a chance to view, ponder and discuss provocative and evocative films made to highlight the Sikh experience. This festival is a platform for Sikh awareness, showcasing talent through both films and exhibitions.
This year the Spinning Wheel Film Festival is proud to showcase A Century of Sikh Photographs (1847-1947), an exhibition that visually narrates the life and times of the Panth from the Sikh Raj to the Sikh Diaspora. The festival will also celebrate South Asian culture through classical and folk musical pieces inspired by the Sikh Gurus and literary works. The Spinning Wheel Film Festival also presents a dialogue piece on preserving Sikh heritage and a discussion panel on documentary films.
